We won the previous four games. We're not suddenly shit. What's the matter with some of our fans? Knuckle dragging wrist slashers! When Cameron went off it changed the dynamic of the game. I think we mirrored swansea from monday yesterday. It just wasn't happening. As a previous poster has said if we'd been beaten by the swans and we'd beaten Watford no-one would've batted an eyelid. I've also noticed our support during matches has been very complacent for a while. What happened to the twelfth man?

I think the way we set up makes us a better away side than a home side.
We are better on the counter than when we have more possession and the onus is on us to press.
I think we're still only a player or two away from being a top half side.

No team in the Premier League dominates the whole 90mins. Especially midtable teams where its very close and even. Even Chelsea/ManUtd/Mancity at home dont dominate for the WHOLE game, youll always get 10min phases where the other team get into it. Theres about 6/7 teams in world football who dominate from 0-90. Bayern at home, Barca at home, Madrid at home, Shakthar at home, Olympiakos at home, Zagreb at home, PSG at home, Porto at home. Wise words from the youth of stoke

Hughes out Rodgers in!!

We have built a team that plays on the break which works well away and when teams come at us at home eg Bournemouth and Leicester. Under Hughes we have never been good at unpicking teams who shut up shop. Yesterday was partly about 2 defensive howlers but also exposed the lack of mobility in our 2 central midfielders. Their move for the first goal started because they had time to roll the ball into the strikers and in the second their midfield broke much faster than ours. They had Capoue and Ben Watson in there and we couldn't get past them. This is not a N'Zonzi lament as we have been like this for some time. We need a midfielder who can break through, get the ball forward fast and then get beyond the front 4 to help the strikers in the box.

At home everything just seems so sterile, lately. We've been outsung at home far too often. Need to get that bearpit like intensity back and soon. Come on 12th man start flexing them lungs and vocal chords.

Conclusion after 10 games: Ryan Shawcross is one of the best defenders in the league. Without him we are so vulnerable, leaderless and rudderless. The greatest worry for me is our inability to create a decent chance

We have made chances and we've consistently almost made chances, it's just that final pass that we can't seem to manage, i 100% believe that it will come though, we just need a plan b when teams come to defend narrowly and hit on the break

Too many players want too many touches of the ball. Resident golden bullocks Bojan is one of the worst offenders. Our build up play is slow and ponderous. What's needed is crisp and sharp passing. Steven Ireland is excellent at popping the ball off quickly but has hardly had a look in. Today's performance was as bad as anything served up by Pulis. Hughes doesn't seem to be learning that you need a plan B. Hope you enjoyed the game today mate! No I didn't march. Tippy tappy at its absolute worst.

Sold, arguably, our best 3 players and bought in mediocrity pre-season. We have enough in our ranks, I hope, to reach 40pts.
But I think Hughes, as stated in a post a few months ago, has ever so slightly lost the plot this season. I have no idea where he is going within the current setup, cant fathom out why he let Huth go and why he has not bought in any central defenders & defensive central midfielders.
Massive question mark hangs over his head as to whether he is capable of building his own squad/team.
They stated on Match of the day last night that Stoke is no longer a hard place to go on a cold Tuesday night and that our central defenders were roughed up by the Watford forwards.
Definitely the end of an era in terms of the ethos of our side. I am worried when the likes of Walters, Whelan, Shawcross finally leave our club and they are replaced with Hughes like players, that we will turn into the ultimate soft touch and even maybe the new QPR.
Hughes buys players on ability wheras his predecessor bought players mainly on their character. Character is something lacking in the team at the moment and the majority of Hughes purchases.
His best quality is that he is not stubborn and hopefully can learn by previous and current mistakes.

I don't get to attend many games because of where I live but I am going to Newcastle and can't wait.
I think we have a better chance of getting a result there provided we don't make defensive mistakes. All we have to do is set up like we have done so far and if shaq and arnie have a good day we will take a result home with us.
We do need to sort out the home form though, I think we would have been ok with either diouf or walters up top yesterday though.

I haven't enjoyed a single home game this season. Leicester felt like a loss and we didn't deserve the win against Bournemouth. That said at times (usually for the first 20 minutes) we have played some really attractive stuff. My view is that we are a couple of pieces away from a very decent side. Woolly - still a long way to go until he is a decent Prem defender. Oh yes, and as slow as my Mum over 20 metres; Glen Johnson - a liability. Can't beat a man and will always cut inside before giving the ball away; Shaqiri - oddly needs to stop trying too hard and overplaying the ball. He doesn't need to beat 3 people every time he has the ball. A well weighted quick pass would do now and again. Fix that and all will be good. And that probably explains why I never had a career in football management I guess. I know nothing. Still that's how it looks to me.

The home crowd is definitely a lot quieter these days and I do think it has an some effect on player's overall performances on home turf. End of the day, you've gotta give 'em something to shout about.

Benji is the best piss taker this board has ever seen and is likely to see. I blocked his posts about a month ago when it became really tiresome. How do I go about doing this pal? He boils my piss on a daily basis with his negative bile. I imagine him sitting at home jizzing himself at every Stoke defeat so he can come on here and spout his fucking arse gravy out to any cunt who'll listen. He must be a very lonely man indeed.

Sorted.

We really are the most enigmatic team in the league - from game to game, heck from half to half, we can go from a team which is solid at the back, composed in possession, dangerous in attack and full of invention and creativity, to a team which has the Keystone Cops in defence, midfielders with no drive or energy and lazy, static forwards! How can this be?

We're not far from being a really good side but it just needs the right personnel to play together and then a central midfielder to be bought in to tie that all up.

We really aren't going to get much better in that position. I have seen Shaqiri create so many chances as well, particularly Swansea when he was awesome. He doesn't take people on enough!

Going the same as last season, losing to lower teams with lesser overall ability. A bit like we were against the good footballing sides like West Brom, which we always beat by a more direct approach. Bi-pass midfield if you haven't got the quality. Some of the Stoke Midfield & defenders think they are better than they are and at times need to Hoof it out of danger and at least gives Diof & the like a 50/50 chance in opponents half. Sometimes we over pass get no-where, get in trouble and get caught, That has not changed from last season, especially at home when Hughes does not seem to know how best to set his team up and the team don't seem to know when to short pass long pass or just hoof.(let alone Shoot!)
A time for Manager, Management team and players for inner reflection if they are to start winning games at home because its not so much a Fortress as a Fort - Stress for home fans
