I don't care what UKIP's position is. Haven't bothered researching it. If it coincides with my views fine. If it doesn't fine. I have not said there is "no such thing as a refugee". Not even close. In fact, quite the opposite. I've said they were refugees, but when they decide to move for economic reasons, they are economic reasons. Funnily you start by saying "without malice" and then you just make things up. You've done that numerous times on these threads. Make things up or just deliberately misinterpret what's been said. I'm glad you've still not understood the difference between a "refugee" and an "economic migrant". Refugees do not move for economic reasons. Economic migrants move for economic reasons. Your view does "coincide" (completely unintentionally no doubt) with UKIP's. It's each to their own. It looks like I've unintentionally "outed" you without consent. There is no malice. It was a ridiculously funny thing to say that's all. It can be frustrating to some when people go around "making things up" with factual evidence from the UN and stuff. No malice? So why deliberately misinterpret and make things up then? Repeatedly.

The thing is though, when I voted at the last General Election I didn't see Angela Merkels name on the ballot paper. I must have missed it. What Party was she in? Angela's photo is now being held up by all those hundreds of thousands (soon to be) entering Germany as though she is some kind of Saint. And then she will be telling all EU countries how many migrants they will be taking in and that includes the UK. And the British Government will go along with it. The media in the UK is already starting to fill with stories of people and councils desperate to take all these people in..and what we can all do to help. A complete sea change in the last 48 hours. And all down to The Germans. Will pay more attention to the ballot paper at the next election. Well yeh but, I can't wait to stand at St Pancras station throwing cuddly teddies to these refugees ......no I don't have white hair and smoke a cigar I just believe the population of Syria and.the whole of Africa should come to the UK to live

What better way to move those additional 50 million around? (Not all in First Class though :-( ) And we would have to lay on additional buffet carriages.

I just read and subsequently laughed at what you wrote. Each to their own really. Laughing at sense and rational logic? So, I repeat, why do you deliberately misinterpret what's be written (as you obviously have something upstairs) and continually make things up then? Why would you do this unless you're deranged or through malice? BTW, what time is it Thailand? Did you enjoy your brief visit to the 1863 site?

Damn Germans being all humane and that! Maybe. Could it not be the plummeting German birth rate and looming pensions timebomb that is prompting this welcoming of mainly young men? It is certainly a turnaround from a decade ago when they wouldn't allow Eastern European Economic migrants (when the uncaring British did allow about 800,000 in) despite their actions of the 20th century leading to them becoming economic migrants. A rather strange turn of events in such a short space of time. Merkel decides what Germany wants to do (ignoring European agreements) and then orders Hungary, Greece, Italy.....to follow suit. Perhaps things haven't completely changed.

Bigger picture. West Germany was one of the countries which received the highest number of immigrants in the world. In 1950 some 8 million of the 50 million inhabitants of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) were postwar refugees and expellees (Vertriebene). Since then, West Germany's population increased by 16 million (to 66 million in 1994). Some 80 percent of this increase can be explained by net migration. Since the end of World War II, more than 20 million people immigrated in to the western part of Germany: expellees, ethnic Germans from Central and Eastern Europe (Aussiedler), Germans from the GDR (Übersiedler), labour migrants (so-called guest workers), asylum seekers, and refugees. This figure only includes people who have stayed in the Federal Republic of Germany for extended periods of time. Since 1950 the population of Germany as a whole (East and West) has increased by 13.1 million, bringing the total population to 82 million in 1996. Two-thirds of this increase was due to the positive net migration balance of more than 8.6 million between 1950 and 1996, not including migration between East and West Germany. The longer this crisis goes on the worse it gets. Cameron and his jerks are deliberately mixing-up no less than four different issues and making political capital out of what is human misery. There are essentially four issues here and each has a different solution: 1) Syrian refugees. For fucks sake let the ones already on the road in, talk to Turkey about an ordered process for others including the minorities in Syria and Northern Iraq who almost certainly will never be able to return - then do something to stop the war. Talk to Assad, talk to Putin, deal with ISIS but stop pissing about. 2) Illegal Economic migrants crossing from Libya. Stop the boats setting sail from port. If there is any local government work with it. If not take action. Offer aid tied to anti-corruption measures in Africa. Europe cannot take all comers but just fishing bodies out of the sea is not a policy. 3) Migration from outside the EU. Stop pretending there is nothing you can do control it. There is but for the life of me I cannot understand why it is still in chaos and so many people "go missing". 4) Migration within the EU. Stop pissing all our allies off by accepting the unintelligible and idiotic UKIP premise of pretending free movement of EU citizens is negotiable - it isn't. It also has nothing to do with 1 to 3 above. Angela Merkel has taken a brave and humanitarian stance which has left the rest of Europe embarrassed. Perhaps she remembers the refugee crisis in Germany in 1945. It is about time this country remembered its own past as a haven for refugees and Cameron grows a set and stops letting UKIP set the agenda.

German politicians are selling the once great proud nation of Germany down the river and as the German leftys rub their hands together and pat each other on the back with smug satisfaction at the current situation the ordinary German folk will be left to deal with the nightmare . The people of Europe should unite and make a stand against the politians , the Guardian readers and other sadistic leftys . One good thing that will come from this is that UKIP will get more votes . Thumbs up

I don't understand why people are banding around the terms "refugee" and "economic migrant" as though they're mutually exclusive. People can have more than one motivation for any action; they very well might be fleeing a warzone but that doesn't mean that they're not also looking for the best deal they can get.
We're seeing this in the fact that they're traversing four or five completely peaceful countries to reach the affluence of Germany. It doesn't make Syria any less of a nightmarish shithole in parts, but let's not pretend that's all they're after. You can even see this on film where they're angrily throwing food and water onto the ground and saying they don't want that, they want Germany.
I'm speaking as an advocate of a generally relaxed global border policy as well.
