Don't you think a manager who's turned things from the kind of shite we witnessed on Saturday into two top ten Premier League finished deserves a bit more faith shown in him? One thing's for certain, Mark Hughes' team showed a lot more backbone at the weekend than some Stoke fans are showing right now. Ever heard of beginner's luck? It helps too when all your best players were brought to the club by your 'failed' predecessor! Best player at Stoke currently is Whelan and he cost £500,000 in a last minute transfer deadline deal that MH and 'the pizza boys' can only dream about and certainly never emulate! Is he fuck the best player! Not now or ever.

Yet again this board descends into a Pulis or Hughes farce. It is possible to rate them both you know, they've both done excellent jobs here. I'd like nothing more than to leave TP in the past, but you can point the finger at Mr Alcock for that. A ridiculous opinion that can't go unchallenged.

This whole board the last few days has been a bit of a joke tbh. 4 games into the season, and people already talking about relegation and questioning the manager that for the last 2 seasons has lead us to 2 top half finishes, talk about fickle. And also today people talking about no ambition from the club regarding the lack of transfers today, are u having a laugh, have u seen the players we tried to get and actually did get, some people on here I feel have an agenda and will not be happy until they have their Lord Tony back so they can watch anti football again and will never be happy with anything the club do. Actually I'm quite embarrassed to be accocated with a lot of these so called fans, Any other fan from another club that look on here must be pissing thier self's lately. Grow up wipe ur sore fannys and sort ur sad heads out, if we are in the bottom three by December then u may have a bit of ground for u endless doomungering. 2nd lowest net spenders and yet another window where we have opted for free / cheap says you are wrong re ambition I actually think that Mark Hughes is a miracle worker and should be lauded for what he has achieved. He is clearly working with a budget that ultimately led to Pulis throwing his toys out of the pram and getting the chop.

Best manager we've had in a long time and people still question him. This! The man is building a dynasty here. Let him get on with it!

How has MH got N'Zonzi to play better than Pulis? Haven't you noticed the Fonz has forked off? If you're that visually impaired, a visit to Specsavers would be pointless? You are taking the piss aren't you? Actually, no! Strangely enough, you do have to be in the team to be playing better than under the previous manager?

I think not personally and without wanting sound like I thought he was shit before I have always rated him and stuck up for him on previous posts gone by when he's been slagged off and been tagged to be sold with other shit players on the books at the time. Hughes may not of signed him but he certainly brings out the best in him which yes does make him a absolute steel at £500,000.

I don't think he's quite lost the plot.
But he has been the biggest problem so far this season.
The suspensions should help him out.

And another. Begginers luck for 2 seasons? A player in good current form is hardly our best player. O.K.. Name a better, more consistent, more valuable team player than Whelan. All the others have at best been inconsistent with the exception of Jack! And who brought Jack to Stoke? It wasn't MH! What a valve.

Is blackpoolred the proud owner of even 1 brain cell? I do infact have 2 brain cells and every now and then they do connect - not too often at my age though. But thankyou for your well thought out and constructive input You're most welcome. Don't you think the thread title and the subsequent post are a tad dramatic? An over-reaction if you like? At some point we are going to have a "poor season". It might be this season, next season or the one after but when it happens, people need to stay calm, suck it up and trust our manager and owner to do the right things. They haven't let us down yet. It is also worth noting that "poor" is in the context of the standards our current manager has set for us over the last 2 seasons and the obvious ambitions he has as a manager. I've seen 45 points mentioned as an example of a poor season yet am amazed that is the barometer for the current manager who has spent practically nothing yet wasn't for the previous manager who spent nigh on 100m. We'll be absolutely fine. I'm disappointed we haven't got the other winger I believe we need but I don't share the panic and concern about the likes of MVG and affellay. Both are clearly very good players who will get better the more games they play. I'm no fan of wolschied, buts lets be honest, when called upon he's rarely let us down even if he hasn't always looked convincing in the process.

Maybe if Pulis had been able to get Glenn Whelan, Steven N'zonzi, Jon Walters, Peter Crouch, Charlie Adam and even Geoff Cameron performing to the level Mark Hughes has had them performing he wouldn't have lost his job? He hasn't exactly had the funds to replace them has he, though the fact of the matter is that Hughes trusts professional footballers to go and do the job for him, regardless of whether he's bought them or not. You'll be telling us next that Mick Mills and Alan Ball are better managers than Lou Macari because Lou couldn't find better full backs than Butler and Sandford. 100% agree with you Dave and have just quoted similar regarding Whelan. I would of liked a centre half but I do trust Hughes.

Every thread Dave there's always a different moron to point the finger at. Hughes has done a fantastic job here and deserves our backing and I'm probably as pro TP as you're going to find on this board at the moment. Both sides of this pathetic argument need to get a grip.

I don't know what we're all expecting us to achieve. I honestly don't think we could ever finish higher than 7th/8th without ploughing silly money into it. He's doing an excellent job and to judge him after 4 games and a slow start is ludicrous. Judge him in May

Could you all give it a break with this pulis / Hughes crap ?
Pulis is history the past is gone the present is all that matters
When all is said and done a huge part of the season is going to hinge on how well (and how soon) van ginkel is going to perform
I'm convinced that Afellay out for 3 matches will be a god send as van ginkel was being hindered by his continuous marauding infield, taking up his space
If van ginkel beefs up a bit and ups the tempo a notch or two, and provided the rest of the first teamers avoid injury the we should be ok
Certainly the choice XI look like a very strong side
The obvious pick XI for me is
But land
Johnson Cameron Muniesa Pieters
Whelan Van ginkel
Shaq Bojan Arnie
Diouf
(Based on the consideration that Ryan is out injured )

It was never going to be a continuous upwards curve of progression.Maybe this season will see a blip, hard to say at this stage. I do think the squad looks unbalanced but if we can get the front 4 of Arnie,Bojan,Diouf and Shaq firing on all cylinders we should have enought fire power not to have to worry too much about a slightly suspect defence

The only worry i have with Hughes is how long before he leaves, hopefully a long long time when we've left the old hoofball rugby reputation in the past
I can't help but feel that if Hughes were to leave now or anytime soon for whatever reason that Bojan, Shaqiri, Arnie, Ireland and a few others wouldn't be too far behind, they've all stated him as the main reason for coming here
Coates wanted change and he got it, Hughes is driving us forward and long may it continue, he has 100% earned the right to expect us to trust him

Hughes is relishing the challenge he signed up to. The spending parameters will be clear. He's creating a team in his image: tough, compact, mobile and incisive.
The opportunity to lay to rest any whiff of QPR.
The slow starts and lack of discernible set piece strategy continue to irk but they're quibbles rather than a call for his yed.
We look in better shape than last year, with Johnson adding a goal threat from defence and the addition of Shaqiri. Early sogns are that the magic dust Mark and co. sprinkle has landed on Whelan, Cameron, Muniesa and Peiters so far and he may have found the motivational measure of Arnie. Diouf looks dangerous.
More positives than negatives, he'll find a solution to the N'Zonzi gap. I'm glad he hasn't gone for an identikit replacement. It'll be different.
Looking forward to the journey with Sparky and his mates again this season. I'll need the straightjacket not him.

Look at the amount of money Van Gaal has spent and has he really got value for money and is their team that much better than before?!

You would think after two seasons of getting record positions in the league we would have realised that we as fans know jack shit when it comes to the internal affairs of the club. Hughes knows what his players are capable of and that is all. We just need to get behind him and his decisions, because the reality is we are only four games in (after getting a point out of two of the "big boys", a point away at a pretty handy side, and a freak loss that wouldn't have happened without the inevitable "Oliver Show"). Our new boys haven't had time to unload their bags let alone gel in a new team/league, and we're still without two of our main attacking/defensive players.
Can we at least wait until we're a considerate way into the season before we start pissing the bed? It's getting pathetic.
