That's what the reality is. I'd like to agree but you can't be unfit after 10 minutes. He kinda looked Luke he just wanted to get through the match unscathed. I'll grant him that though. Bojan threw himself into a 50/50 challenge within 5 minutes of the start - I was watching through clenched fists. Even at %60 fit he was a class above veryone on the pitch, players like him make it look effortless. It was a very encouraging 80 odd minutes.

Come one mumf...woolly a 3.??? Not a lot wrong tonight I thought with a couple of very important interceptions Piss poor passing, not too clever for the goal along with Wilson and Bardsley and his God awful attitude shone through too. Right you are bayern.... I would argue the toss but seeing though its only you.....

I've never seen us pass the ball out for a throw in as much as tonight. Him and Wils are too far apart for the goal. And his attitude absolutely fucking stinks. He blames every fucker else for everything, he needs to grow a set and take some responsibility.

Given 7 Did well Bardsley 5 Not good enough Woolly 6 OK Wilson 7 Steady Eric 7 Decent game Sidwell 4 Very poor this is the sort of game being a PL he should be running Walters 7 Worked hard as always well taken goal too Bojan 7 looked class but faded 2nd half Arnie 5 Heavily involved but didn't look like he was bothered Ireland 8 Thought he was our best player Crouch 5 Poor for Crouchy looked unfit
Subs Geoff 7 I like the guy think he should be ahead of Sidwell in the pecking order at the very least Diouf 6 Did OK Joselu 5 Poor needs a goal

I agree , he looked like he was looking for the ball a great deal coming deep keeping it simple , it looked like an exercise to get fit and he looked class with it !

Indeed. He also got robbed by Benson in the second half, that wasn't too clever either.

If Ireland doesn't start on Saturday something is seriously wrong.
I've defended Sidwell and Bardsley on here before but after that I don't know if I want to so much as look at them ever again.

Can't believe people are giving Wooly low marks. Was solid - did he do anything wrong - apart from people having it for him?
Given 7 Bards 5 (loses a mark for the goal) Wooly 6 Wilson 6 Pieters 5 Sidwell 6 Ireland 7 Arnie 5 Walters 6 Crouch 5 Bojan 5

Piss poor passing, not too clever for the goal along with Wilson and Bardsley and his God awful attitude shone through too. The goal was Bardsleys fault and his alone. Wooly didn't do too badly tonight, one of the better players along with Wilson. It was actually Geoff's for getting robbed in the middle of the park. And then Bardsley as he switched off. And then them pair for having a gap bigger than the one between Katie Price's legs between them. Dreadful goal with lots of basic silly errors from the usual suspects.

Wooly didn't do too badly tonight, one of the better players along with Wilson. The goal was quite clearly Walters' fault, the left back sauntered forward unchecked, received the ball unchecked and then picked his pass unchecked.

Got lucky with his pen as well,

I thought Ireland was head and shoulders our best player - but even he only gets a 7. No-one else was raising their hand to play with him though. Credit to Geoff for actually looking bothered when he came on and showing everyone else up.
Everyone else was 5 max, but the biggest disappointment to me was Arnie, followed by Joselu.
Just a depressing night with even our Catalan chum looking yards off it (as you'd obviously expect to be fair)

Bardsley was abominable, the worst player on the pitch. Worse than crouch? Yeah forgot about Pete's "contribution". Watching him, he looks a spent force. Quite why we offered him a two year deal in January is beyond me.

Given - 5, not much to do and managed to dive out of the way of every penalty
Bardsley - 6, better from Bards Wolly - 6, comfortable from him today, no mistakes but he just doesn't look like a pro footballer Wilson - 6 Again comfortable with no errors Pieters - 4, what's happened to Pieters, loses possession cheaply, loses his man - big worry for me Walters - 5, Sky clearly think if you score you win MOM, his goal was one of the few things he did right today, lost the Luton left back for the equaliser and several more times without consequences Sidwell - 5, a truly limited footballer Ireland - 7, cultured and intelligent footballer who rarely loses possession Bojan - 8, different world to everyone around him Arni - 4, truly shocking from Arnie, awful Crouch 4, As per Arnie 5? The double save second half alone warrants a 8, Given showed his class tonight!

When I see ppl giving Ireland a rating similar to the rest of our starting 11 for that it makes me think
1) they don't know anything about football
2) they jus didn't watch the game
He worked his ass off and was clearly miles ahead of the rest tonight

It was a real effort to sit through this match and watch the team's performance tonight. Of course most people's expectancies were high, especially with Bojan on the pitch. There were some players who were very poor and made little contribution. Having said all that I am appalled by what I read on here. Some people's perceptions of performance were mostly written too soon after the game without much thought. Shay Given had very little to do but kept goal very well and made some good saves that spared our blushes. He at least warranted a seven off everyone. Walters scored an excellent goal but apart from that was not too good. Did not warrant man of the match. I really think that Crouch can score some valuable goals but his contribution to our new style is very limited. For me his performance was perhaps the worst, 3. Bojan kept the ball circulating and showed some great touches without being overtly brilliant and should get at least a six. Stephen Ireland covered a lot of ground and supplied the pass that Walters scored from. His link play with Bojan was good. Man of the match for me! 7 Cameron played a great cameo in midfield and would have complemented Bojan and Ireland if allowed to start. I don't particularly admire Sidwell but people are being far too harsh on him. He made many tackles and tried to do the simple things, six for him. Wollshied looks to be putting on more body weight and his movement may be horrible to watch but in general did well and I noticed he was brave enough to score a penalty when he must have been under tremendous pressure. That took courage and he warranted a six just for that. I was disappointed with Joselu and Diouf but forgave them because they came to the fore when scoring their penalties. Wilson seemed to lead the defence well without making too many mistakes 6 When a team is not playing well but get positive results it is good. We will play far better! I do not know if we can be worse! We are in the next round without too many injuries. Move on!

It doesn't need much more than that though does it? They were all wank (they all were, it was the worst I've seen us perform since Swindon in the same competition in TP's sacking season wasn't it?), move on. Nothing more really needs to be said. Forget it ever happened.
