Who was that shithouse who snubbed us and chose Bristol City before Megson was appointed? Don't think it got to the empty chair stage, he just told us to fuck off! Anyway, Burley's cowardice led just one day later to the beginning of the period all Stoke fans know affectionately as the glory years. Surely all Stoke fans can get behind that? I thought that episode led to the totally shameful binary season and the disgraceful shenanigans that surrounded it? Thankfully it led to the sack which was well received by most at the time as I recall. It's still amazes me that some Stoke fans forgave that. Blown out of the water! Honour to be on the same pitch as Rotherham Lowest budget in the league Repeat to fade.

Peter Osgood Sat behind him in the butler street stand think we beat sourhampton 4-1 . Hudson played and osgood saw his mate and potential employer on fire he had a sheepskin coat on why the butler street God only knows If he had signed no doubt we would have won the league that year is a widely held view and been former champions now . As it was he went on to sign for Southampton and snubbed us When I saw this I thought of Ozzy, Hudson said publicly that Osgood fucked up when he did not sign for us. Not sure but I also remember reading somewhere that Osgood said similar in his later years.

It must have been a lookalike, because Osgood played for Southampton that day. How can you be sure it wasn't Osgood's lookalike that played for Southampton? It was the Osgood interest that led to Richie kneeling down to head the ball in. Osgood had gone into the press saying Richie was past it and could only score headers.

Osgood was in the Place the Saturday night before he "should have" signed (With Hudson and another Chelsea player ) telling everybody how Stoke were going to win the league with him in the team. You are overdue on your lottery y-o-y (smiley)

What nonsense was it again? I'm trying to figure out what desperation is driving you to attribute such none sense to me? I know exactly why Rob Hulse didn't sign. I discussed it with his agent at the time directly. Burley got cold feet as far as I know as it was a club divided. I've never claimed anything else. I have to admit I regret responding with a reminder about the binary season to be honest. It's clear there is no single subject that you are not prepared to turn into a homage to Pulis and I've made the mistake of encouraging you. I'll not get suckered in any further on this one and leave you to foam and make things up.

I think he actually said "I wouldn't want to go to Stoke" or words to that effect. He's a semi footballer now so I hope he's happy. Sent from my GT-I8190N using proboards Well actually.... Still don't get what he said he wrong tbh! He didn't want to join us, so what?

His actual words were "right club, wrong time".

I mentioned Burley and only Burley as a classic of the snubbed genre. The fanatics took it up a notch.

Numerous centre halves in the late eighties when Mick Mills was struggling to replace Steve Bould. Kevin Moran, & Phil Babb were the targets......we got Mark Higgins. I recently asked Kevin Moran if he had actually snubbed us and he laughed and said "Stoke were offering me peanuts"........ Went to Spain in the end didn't he??
