He just needs time to adapt to the league and style of play. Just as Shaqiri is starting to show and how Bojan needed that time. I think he's shown some quality and looks like a good prospect. I have hopes for him, unfortunately crouch's time has come and we need someone of his ilk in the squad and Josie can be that man imo. I think your on the right lines here, he's basically a half way house of Walters and crouch, which is good as crouch's time here is drawing to a close, he just seems too weak and too slow now.

All about opinions of course but I thought he was an upgrade on Jon Walters and maybe that's why the club are a bit reluctant to offer Jon what he wants? Like you say it's about opinions but until he scores I really can't see how he is an upgrade on Walters who does score! The contract issue is about age not ability, MH as said as much many times.

True but we have players who can have a good game and score, nothing against the lad he played well but I don't get the "start him at the weekend brigade" if SJW or Mame are available they start, end of for me, Do you think Aguero's shit because he just scores goals in 2015?

He is a selfish talented twat who will take a man on and take a shot at any given opportunity, anyway we digress like I say Joselu played well tonight but we have 2 better players in front of him if available.

Jury was out on him on what little we have seen of him so far, but I thought he played very well tonight ,held the ball up well and was always putting their defenders under pressure.

Good on the ball, but needs to up his workrate off the ball. That will come with match fitness with playing a few matches in a row, which he hasnt had yet

He was fantastic! Did everything he could for the team. He just needs a goal and his confidence will soar. Great first full game.

Gives us a great third option up top, and in games where we need to pack the defence and stay deep, as we did last night, having that option is a real blessing.
He held the ball up well, bought players in, and tracked back to allow our little magician some more space through the middle.
A complete 'away match lone striker' performance, well done kid!

Happy with Joselu tbh. Thought he did his fair share of harassing defenders, winning back possession, decent interplay. I think he'll get a bit sharper and confident as he gets more game time but overall I think he grew into the game after the first nervy 20 minutes.
As a team we should really have been 1 or 2 goals more up by half time. Seems no one really had their scoring boots on yesterday.

I must have watched a different game- his movement was poor and he sat in midfield more often than not allowing Bojan to go top, although I'm not sure if that was deliberate. When he wasn't up top he was offside. He should have scored but didn't even attempt a header within the first ten minutes. That said his overhead shows he doesn't lack confidence but probably just needs time, which I think Hughes does really well, so as strange as it may seem with what I've said I've got high hopes for him and consider him more of a potential fox in the box than the all action displays Diouf or Walters could provide. "He should have scored but didn't attempt a header" So every ball we put into our opponents box SHOULD be a goal then?

He's an upgrade because he's younger. He's played, what? 180 minutes of football? He'll score goals when we create chances for him. You only have to look at the goals he's scored in previous seasons, he needs supplying. He's not the type to create himself.

Was really pleased with his contribution last night after (like everyone else) not having anything of note to go on since he arrived.
He held the ball up well and chased every ball.
Good effort from the lad.

Never seen a player hold the ball up so well playing up top on his own for Stoke in a long while, possibly just as effective as Crouch can be for that role and offers a lot more than just that, he's taking time to adapt to how the game is played in the Premier League.
Top work from him last night.

I think with a bit more match sharpness he may have gone up for that header that came through to him past Williams which people are mentioning. Overall hold up play and effort was top notch and his overhead kick was excellent improvisation (not exactly sure what Shaqiri's ball was meant to be or what he was supposed to do with it?) wasn't far off at all. Very pleasing performance.

Everybody's discipline was spot on as well, thats one of the main reasons then couldn't create many chances not just the fact they were awful going forward! Once Shaqiri nicks a goal it'll do his confidence the world of good too. Brillaint work rate if anything last night.

If we ever find ourselves in some sort of bizzaro matrix where Hughes decides to change the system and play two upfront, the pairing of Joselu and Diouf would be pretty decent I think.

He was my MOTM. Did so much off the ball that you wouldn't have seen on the TV and won so many balls in the air. His touch was a bit iffy first 20 mins and he had a half chance in that period that if he had had later on he would have taken it. So impressed with him and he's got some real fight in him.
His best moment came in the second half, his spat with Rangel who he went up for a header with and caught an elbow which went largely unnoticed. He was fuming and was shouting and pointing for Rangel basically saying 'I'm coming for you.' About five minutes later he dispossessed Rangel expertly and I think it led to a chance. Rangel gave chance but Joselu was away and he was visibly pissed the big man had his revenge fairly and squarely - the best way!

He is a selfish talented twat who will take a man on and take a shot at any given opportunity, anyway we digress like I say Joselu played well tonight but we have 2 better players in front of him if available. possibly one of the stupidest posts i've EVER read on the oatcake! yes, he'll take players on and shoot when he can but since when has "He offers way more than that" or "Strikers don't have to just score goals" equate to back tracking and goal line clearances???? surely not another incident on the oatcake of someone reducing remarks to black and white (and them being the sole arbiter of what those black and white categories are) simply to desperately try to gain points?????? forwards need to work hard at creating space for others, creating chances for others (Aguero's created as many chances this season for others in his team as goals he's scored) and support attacking play, holding the ball up, making runs off the ball etc. etc. that's what they're there for, that's their job! to say if a forward isn't scoring at 1 end or making goal line clearances at the other then he just isn't contributing is one of the most schoolboy errors to make when it comes to how the game is played! Joselu held the ball up well, lead the line well and gave us a good outfield ball when under pressure and to help build a quick counter attack. anyone who missed all the work he did off the ball last night needs to go back to football school IMO

If you are playing 4-2-3-1 that's four attackers in any language and means the 3 and the 1 have to press and press for the full ninety minutes and defend from the front or you are going to get hammered at the back . I thought Joselu looked well up for putting a shift in last night and did really well.
