A youtube vid of his Hannover season seems to have gone up since we've signed him... His movement is very good; maybe too good to leave him on the bench.

I see what your saying and only one game gone of course, I'm sure we will see him used more away from home perhaps? 5 million ££ I'm pretty confident he won't be warming the bench all season. For me since he signed he's a bit of an unknown and I trust Hughes on this one. Again going back to the 5million fee what exciting times we are in being able to leave him on the bench , imagine that 7 years ago? Mind blowing for this potter. Just curious really , wondering if Hughes sees him as a diouf upgrade . Like you I know nothing about him . How does he differ from diouf 'How does he differ from Diouf'. Poetry QED. It's all nuts, I'm still letting the idea of signing Johnson, Joselu and Afellay sink in and marinade in me brain... then the Swiss cheeese happens. Emmental.

Why won't Diouf start against Spurs? Joselu for the last twenty minutes if appropriate. {Unless Crouch is hungry for his hundredth off the bench against an old Club.}

I think we'll feed him in to the team pretty gradually. I think like Bojan last season, he will need some time to get the pace/strength of the league and we probably won't see the best of him until around Christmas.
I might be totally wrong though! smiley thing

He's going to score a hat-trick at Kenilworth Road.
His signing is an astute one. It puts Diouf under real pressure to perform early on in the season. Looking forward to him getting some minutes on the pitch, although I think Diouf will start the next two matches (barring a nightmare performance at WHL/injury/suspension).

What you can guarantee is when he starts a Premier League game, some clown will start a thread slagging him off and then live to regret it later in the season. Or continually slag him off for several seasons, whilst been made to look a a massive fool

A youtube vid of his Hannover season seems to have gone up since we've signed him... What i like about this video is how comfortable he is with both feet, the first 3 or 4 goals i thought lovely left peg, then he steps up and takes the penalty with his right which must be his favoured foot. Some of the link up play looks excellent, really look forward to seeing this lad play. So much to be excited about this season. Stoke

Hughes has played it spot on. Diouf didn't deserve to be dropped and he is rightly giving him the opportunity to carry on or play himself out of the side.
We and he would moan if he was cut straight out of the side for a new signing.

He is supposed to be a specialist header of the ball isn't he? Rarely loses a headed challenge - is that right? He was very good at defending corners against Cologne, won most balls that were swung into the box

I see what you say but different manager now , and I know Hughes put palacios on the bench but that was only when short on numbers with Hughes soon dissing him out. Shame really because when he was at Wigan & Spurs he looked a decent player it just never happened for him or us at stoke.

As I mentioned two weeks ago, ho-zay-Lou, with emphasis on the zay, was how Martin Tyler pronounced it, throughout the Everton (Singapore) match and that's good enough for me.

I really liked the look of his movements on Saturday. I think he'll link up better than Diouf because of his touch and control. Whereas Diouf will be suited to away games when we play on the break.

Joselu: "It's flattering to be compared to Van Persie" ...I listened to that Charlie Adam interview. Headline should read "It's flattering to be compared to Van Persie and Steven Fletcher".

It's been a bit of an odd time for him, really. He's not had much of a chance at all. He looks promising enough as another option up front, though, so I'm quietly hopeful of him putting in a decent performance tomorrow.

I just hope we can get enough pace around him. Losing Mame and not having a real pacy winger isn't good.

What does that make our Wolly then ? No, I just think in the instance Joselu will have a chance of playing well against. Firstly due to the fact that Mertesacker is coming back from injury & may not be 100%. Secondly because Joselu is quick as well as strong, good at holding the ball up & this might cause Mertesacker issues. Not sure of your angle here with regards to Wooly.

He needs game time. Coming on for 15 mins is ok but it puts pressure on as during that time you may only get one chance and if you miss its hard to get your confidence up as at Norwich. Diouf misses plenty but backs himself and is confident enough to keep trying and eventually get there as at Spurs. I'd start thd big guy at the Arse.
