"So Peter, what are your transfer plans?"
"I'm leaving it up to the denizens of the Oatcake, as I didn't realise just how many master tacticians we have living in the area"

According to Coates "Stoke and Barcelona are a perfect fit."

Coatsey intimated that all the transfer business has now been done.
In this case can we please stop harping on about that reluctant Ukrainian and that up himself Swiss lad.

No he didn't at all, he just said glad we could get it done early, he didn't say we've finished. I think we'll see a pretty busy deadline day with ins and outs

If not then I would genuinely question the ambition of this football club beyond survival which may even be at risk without a fit Ryan Shawcross

Zero patience from some fans quick enough to presume doom and gloom before we have even kicked a fucking ball.

We're in danger of becoming the sort of hysterical, unsatisfied tosspot fans we used to disdain when we were outside of the Premiershit. Zero patience from some fans quick enough to presume doom and gloom before we have even kicked a fucking ball. Let me be clear, I don't think we will struggle. However, if any of our peers lost their starting Goalkeeper (sold), Centre Half (injured) and Centre Midfielder (sold) we would be pissing ourselves laughing and suggesting they would be in for a difficult time. The season ahead will have it's ups and downs, but we've coped before and we will cope again.

The problem is with the internet its so easy to put one's immediate thoughts into words. In the old days we'd have written a long letter and had to wait till we got a stamp or the next post. In that time we'd have worked out how crappy those thoughts were and ripped the letter up!

And that he's really pleased with it From a business perspective he should be. Positive in the bank balance, two sales of prominent players, one of which could of gone for free in the summer and an accumulated war chest to replenish the squad in the New Year. Also and despite losing out on Kono, Shaq and perhaps Yamo, the club has raised its profile abroad and made a huge statement about it's desire to progress and attract players like this in future. It could have been much, much worse.

It's one thing having a desire to attract those players but if we finish 17th next season I don't think there'll be much chance of landing any of these players you speak of.

I honestly dont know what this is supposed to mean. So you cannot care that much about your club that you wish for great things ? Ive supported Stoke since I was 3 (45 years ago) and being going home and away since then on a regular basis including the holocaust season and all of our 'League 1 (was 3rd division) exploits I want us to prosper and not put at risk all that has taken so much to acheive and I think we are taking huge risks in a season so critical to that success continuing. Im actually suprised that so many people are happy with the level of ambition and investment shown in this window given that we finished the season so well and with people talkking up how a couple of top quality players really would push us into the 'next level' Far from 'unsatisfied' and 'hysterical' I am pretty level headed and realistic (I dont want to be grouped with the Benjys of this world). Sadly it seems that these days if you have any sort of view that doesnt concur with some then the insults fly about and you are a 'tosspot', 'knicker wetter' 'ungrateful' etc etc

Mixed signals.
