Well that would completely go against what is CE was saying yesterday on local radio What was said on local radio? we are still looking at deals (marquee signing) but we are now competing with the big boys ....a little bit of backtracking from earlier in the pre-season

If not then I would genuinely question the ambition of this football club beyond survival which may even be at risk without a fit Ryan Shawcross We're in danger of becoming the sort of hysterical, unsatisfied tosspot fans we used to disdain when we were outside of the Premiershit. This

So you want great things and next level but you don't want the footballing world to recognise it or else we'll become everyone's second favourite team (heaven forbid)? Mixed signals. The point re: '2nd favourite teams' is pretty clear - When we become that it will mean that we are esay meat, easy to beat (Blackpool were 'everyones second favourite team') That's a particularly flakey and flawed point. Swansea and Southampton anyone? H

We're in danger of becoming a total football side without the right standard of players, clubs will enjoy playing against us as they will see points to be had. I'd settle for 14th now if we have closed business. Cheap and cheerful will get us so far before the tide turns.
Lack of ambition will see our better players wanting to move when a decent offer comes in. again, this summer was a great chance to show everybody in football that SCFC mean business, following a very good league last season it was the perfect time to raise the bar, we havn't and if the window shut tomorrow i'm confident we won't make top 12

From a business perspective he should be. Positive in the bank balance, two sales of prominent players, one of which could of gone for free in the summer and an accumulated war chest to replenish the squad in the New Year. Also and despite losing out on Kono, Shaq and perhaps Yamo, the club has raised its profile abroad and made a huge statement about it's desire to progress and attract players like this in future. It could have been much, much worse. I agree with what you're saying but performance goes hand in hand with that surely. We still need to have a decent season and finish top half. It's one thing having a desire to attract those players but if we finish 17th next season I don't think there'll be much chance of landing any of these players you speak of. Agreed with that sentiment chap but remember the chairman is ambitious and not milking the club coffers like others clubs have endured ie Portsmouth About another month to go in the window

No he didn't at all, he just said glad we could get it done early, he didn't say we've finished. I think we'll see a pretty busy deadline day with ins and outs Well that would completely go against what is CE was saying yesterday on local radio Didn't realise Clint Eastwood was a Potter

I'd say that up to the martinez era Everton were most people's second team.

Obviously that's bullocks, but he said it.

How have we shown a lack of ambition? Not being able to get deals over the line doesn't show a lack of ambition? How can it? The fact we've been linked with big names SHOWS ambition. But as has been said, when going after said players, actually getting them here is an entirely different story; and not through lack of trying or 'ambition'. The club probably more than agree with your sentiment of raising the bar and showing everyone we mean business, heck, I'm pretty sure the club are sure of this and the supposed record breaking bids for Kono and Shaqiri, and Yarmolenko (which may yet happen) is testament to the way they are looking to kick on to that next level... Ambition and achievement are 2x totally different beasts and people are confusing the two. We may still break our transfer record and end up with quality signings before the window shuts. If we don't then I agree, it hasn't been a hugely successful window and somewhat slightly underwhelming. But people need to realise how much of some of these transfer dealings are out of the clubs hands... We are obviously not failing to sell the club or showing a lack of ambition. The youngsters we have signed is evidence enough of that for me. You don't get young lads leaving the youth setups of Madrid and Barca and walking into any old cowboy setup without the club an it's vision being sold. Ambition, is exactly what could be hurting us, not lack of it... As for clubs enjoying playing against us? We can still field: Butland Wilson Cameron Muniesa Pieters Whelan Sidwell Walters Adam Arnie Diouf Hardly a team that's a pushover, and a team that's still capable of getting results...
