Well if it is a "woooooosh" then the poster is just a fucktard with no real input or any constructive input Or pointing out the bipolar nature of some of the cretins on this board.

Moncengladbach 1 - Newcastle - 0 Leeds 2 - Everton 0 Stuttgart 4 - Man City 2 New York Red Bulls 4 - Chelsea 2 Those results show that preseason is essentially just fitness training It is, which is where the bigger concerns come in.... Shawcross and Glen Johnson. Both should be starting vs Liverpool. Will they? Should they? I'd play Shawcross but maybe ease Johnson in slowly and play Gcam vs Liverpool

I thought I'd take a couple of hours before commenting on that "performance." Plus points: Afellay looked good on the ball after he moved inside - a Bojan-lite. Tex is not as bad as we thought, but nowhere near good enough. Rip VG is good going forward, though not as assured in possession in defensive situations as SNZ. Wingy is getting his match fitness, sharpness and confidence back, and a goal will do him a world of good. Butland looked solid and could do nothing about the goals. Negatives: Johnson bottled that tackle at the end and generally looked slow and unfit - nowhere hear ready to start next week. Muniesa had a right 'mare - let's hope he puts that behind him as we know he is quality. Erik also looked less than sharp - at least it's another game in his legs. Joselu looks tidy on the ball but not a real goal threat (albeit with poor service) - Modeste looked far better money spent. When we play with no pace out wide (what was Ireland doing out there?!?!?!?) we look very one dimensional and bereft of goals. Ireland - I need say no more. Some perspective - that 11 will never play a league game together, but some played themselves out of contention for next Sunday with abject showings (even out wide, Ireland looked awfully disinterested). Let's hope tomorrow's team gives us a boost and shows way more attacking intent and defensive solidity. A view point I largely agree with. Another thread asked which players would you like to see moved on.Ireland is quickly rising up that list for me.

Seems to be the coach notes for the game, would be fools to start any Prem game with Johnson at the moment

How'd Tex do today? My stream was shit and only caught the second half. He was decent, probably one of our better players, once again though, it doesn't mean he should be starting any games soon. However, if you're going to judge on one game which some are doing re Johnson then you'd say Tex is better than Muni, which obviously isn't the case.

Has the physical attributes, I heard the announcer mention his quick pace. Any comments on that?

Arnie and Diouf seem to be more and more important to us! Without them there is no pace in our attack! Which Arnie ? The one that plays 75% of the season where you cant tell he's on the pitch or the one that plays 25% of the season with the fire in his belly .

He certainly looks a lot better at cb than lb but he's still probably 5th choice cb and i'd like to see him out on loan somewhere.

Don't want to see anyone leave until Ryan is in good form with his back.

Always struck me that sport in general is one of the few 'occupations' where the people who are watching ( because they are generally not talented enough to actually perform at the highest level) sit in judgement on those who ARE employed at the highest level. I wonder what the judgements would be all of us on here had their professional/job abilities judged by people who knew little about or had no ability to do any of those jobs. Would we all be happy to be told we are 'shite' or should be sacked or should think of packing in the job? When I was working, I didn't mind criticism/constructive suggestions about my standard of work BUT if the local butcher, ice cream salesman or garage mechanic did the same, not sure I would lend much, if any, credence to their comments. (Apologies to all butchers, ice cream salesmen and garage mechanics out there) (Suppose if you've paid to watch, you're entitled to judge?) I doubt there are many on here that haven't been playing and watching for as long as they could walk. That may be so but I played cricket for 22 years and have watched it for nigh on 30 years thereafter but, whilst I may have opinions(as others do), I still wouldn't expect Alistair Cooke, Ian Bell or Jimmy Anderson to take them very seriously. More credible if the same opinions came from Michael Vaughan - ie someone who's been there and done it.

I agree with all of that, particularly the last line, but we should remember that tomorrow's team will also be scratch team, not what is intended Sunday 9th. I'm delighted Wingie got his goal. I'm really worried Johnson is going to be a dead loss and free wheeling to retirement, but it's early days.

Johnson. Now there is a man who just got all his defensive angles and decisions wrong. or even Johnson AND Muni (with Muni being the worst player on the pitch today) yes, Johnson wasn't good at all but can we actually have some balanced and honest views instead of people desperately trying to prove their agenda as if one-upmanship is somehow more important than the game itself! I have no agenda. I was commenting on the goal that we conceded hence the word 'just'. That was my balanced and honest view. p.s. I watched the 2nd half and I thought Johnson was poor..along with many other players. I have no opinion about agendas/one upmanship so will leave that to you.

Just got a bit fed up with people happily slagging johnson off and ignoring how poor muni was so their agenda fitted but you're obviously not 1 of them. cheers for explaining and apologies (although my point still stands to some on here if you read their comments but not to you i realise). No offence intended

Pre-season games are completely meaningless in the greater scheme of things. They're just a blending exercise for the new lads who have joined and a chance to get a bit of match fitness. It will be a completely new ball game when the chosen eleven take to the pitch next Sunday and there's 25,000 passionate Stokies cheering them on. Why do supporters read so much into them?

Anyone else get caught in some bother? Big mither on the tram coming back from the game. Wasn't really mither. They stuck us on a "special" train then left us to swelter in the heat whilst they tried to wait to cram every Stokie on the train. Some people got fed up waiting so a big group ran off were soon rounded up by the police and were crammed back on.again. Then as the train eventually made its non stop trip to the city centre a freight train crossed the path of our train causing it to stop just at the very time a couple of mental case locals on the roadside were jumping up and down offering on the whole train. The doors were opened and about 20 or 30 of our fans piled out to give chase, some of whom looked like they were physically exhausted by the effort of sprinting across the road. Everyone then got put back on the train by the police with one or two getting battoned around the knees and we continued on our journey without further incident. BM
