I really thought we looked shaky all over! None of our players looked comfortable on the ball, and we hardly created anything from open play! I know Arnie, Charlie and Mame will give us more creativity, but this performance was scary! What will be our back four next Sunday? I'm really not sure who Hughes will pick for the back four any longer! Cameron has by far been our best defender in the friendlies and deserves to play! Johnson hasn't played enough, Pieters doesn't look to be back to full fitness either, and What about Shawcross?? .................Butland............ Cameron...Shawcross?...Muniesa...Wilson? ............MVG.......Whelan........ Walters.........Adam............Arnie ................Diouf................ Cameron looked decent at cb not RB, he shouldn't be anywhere near.

you got to respect your elders dear poster above - as for myself - as much as I was excited by what I saw at Wrexham - that today showed our other side a simple conclusion - there are some completely dreadful players now inhabiting our squad clearly not good enough for the premier league at best we get rid - at worst farm them out on loan - quickly ! Im Thinking Sidewwll and Texierea - both completely fucking awful - no other words and Glen J - here's a tip - get a fucking tackle in son or, your dead fucking meat in front of your own Stoke fans No issues with Tex today. He played well. But correct on the last line, dreadful pussy footing around by Johnson. The ball was there to be won.

?????????? at one point has anyone even said that? how does it even form part of the argument anyway???? listen i'll break it down for you (as you're obviously a bit dim...i have the phone numbers of some people that may be able to help you with that ) everton spent more than we did last season they are traditionally are a bigger club than us they finished BELOW us last season so, with all that in mind how can your argument be that Everton CAN question whether they'll come 6th because they spend more and are bigger than us given the fact that last season PROVED that spending more and how big you traditionally are means NOTHING in terms of where you finish in the table do you get it now? wait till the 9th of August pal. You are my friend though aren't you why do you keep going on about the 9th August exactly? is that when the final table is unveiled?? you're a ickle bit special aren't you fella

Very happy that Afellay got some game time today. Bringing him up to fitness and getting some games under him will be vital it he is to become anything like he once was. However, most important thing today for me was that Odemwingie got a goal. I think that this could be a massive thing for us this year, his impact the season before last was massive and I think that, after a year out, that could be great for his confidence. We may well need to call on this guy as an impact player a lot this year, I hope this goal is the first of many!

Stephen Ireland was probably the worst player on the pitch. It is only a friendly but the way he turned backwards EVERY TIME, couldn't trap a ball, couldn't pass, it was awful. We need to ship out a couple of people and he would be my first choice. Diouf second? No I thought he did well near the end of the season though I would still try and sign a striker if a good deal becomes available because I think he is very inconsistent. We have a lot of players who play in similar positions and we are still in the game for Yarm and Shaqiri. So we need to offload a couple. Ireland hasn't contributed enough for some time and should have been fighting for a place today but was simply awful. Given that we also need to replace Nzonzi I would also send Sidwell on his way.

I'd put money on the "poor fuckers" that are out there not giving a flying fuck about the result, just like you shouldn't either. I havent mentioned the result - I have said that stoke were shite though, which we were. Gouranga.

Interesting set of challenges there for Hughes. I don't agree that had Johnson tackled it would have been a penalty. He pulled out and that was piss-poor - and a very bad sign. I thought Joselu showed some skills, as did Affelay. Walters was very poor. Pieters, OK, perhaps not quite fit, but OK. Texeira was nowhere near as bad as I expected, it was good to see him show like he cared. Oh yes, Sidwell was a disappointment after playing well in the previous friendly. Good for Odemwingie, took his chance well - should give him a good shot of confidence. Not all bad by any means, but I agree with whoever said we need to focus on defence at this point.

Texiera is not ready for the first team, he needs loaning out, he was dog shit. Johnson was his typical self, decent going forward but too many defensive mistakes. Muniesa was missing shawcross next to him, pieters was good, afellay and van ginkel looked good and quite promising, Ireland was shit, Walters worked hard but didn't really do that much. Sidwell was alright, joselu didn't get any service but looked good when he had the ball, odemwingie made a good impact with the goal, butland couldn't of done much about the goals but did alright.
This was a weak team, we had no arnie, no shawcross, no diouf, no Adam,no bojan and whelan. Our key players were rested for tomorrows game so I'm not surprised we lost putting out a team like that. Expect our strongest side tomorrow against porto and hopefully no fucking nob head commentators. You can all stop shitting yourself, it's a pre season game and hughes would never put out a team like that for a league game.

In what way mate ? The only effort he could of made was the tackle and if he'd done that it was a definite penalty .....Wilko used to do that and he continually got slaughtered for it instead of waving him by just try and get a block on it mate.I'd rather a defender give a pen away trying to tackle than not bother at all He couldn't try and block it mutts as the lad moved it quickly and the only option was the tackle with the ball not at the players feet ....result would of been a penalty Really harsh to point the finger at him mate ( not that you are )

Tex did ok ?// no issue ???? Tex the clumsiest brazillian on the planet ? very possibly sorry, but today he made Justin Whittle look like Franz beckenbaur I genuinely thought Tex was our best player today Tony. MVG looked promising in spells, great engine and movement off the ball, although he made a number of misplaced passes. Affelay looked better once he moved inside and played a few quality balls in. That was about it really though, save for Odemwingie's goal.

He still looks our best alternative there as well, at least when Johnson has got so few games under his belt during preseason. He doesn't deserve to be right back at all, he's done absolutely nothing to keep his place there, in fact he's done so little that the manager has tried to replace him twice, let's hope Johnson works, personally I'd rather Bardsley, I was disappointed with him last season but he is the lesser of the two evils for me.

We all know he's quality because he's proved himself last season. Tex has hadn't his chance yet so we can't judge him as shit as friendlies tell us nothing about either player.
