Who scored our goal? Apologies for not having the Tim to trawl back to whatever page it took place Odem. Great news. Another step on his road to complete rehabilitation hopefully.

Tex did ok ?// no issue ???? Tex the clumsiest brazillian on the planet ? very possibly sorry, but today he made Justin Whittle look like Franz beckenbaur Yet was our best defender....... Shows how little friendlies mean To be over critical, he was at fault for both goals.

Muniesa made to look shocking by what was around him - the boy has talent -that is plain Tex - is a mistake - end of Muniesa was very poor today because of his decision making both on and off the ball but especially his distribution. Can't blame anyone else, good to get it out in a friendly

instead of waving him by just try and get a block on it mate.I'd rather a defender give a pen away trying to tackle than not bother at all He couldn't try and block it mutts as the lad moved it quickly and the only option was the tackle with the ball not at the players feet ....result would of been a penalty Really harsh to point the finger at him mate ( not that you are ) Maybe so mate just wish he'd have tried(pen or not).Really concerned about our back four at the minute with the lack Ryan mate,do you share the same concerns?

We've only got one other right back and no one seems to want him so I don't know who you're wanting. after seeing what johnson can do, i'd play cam or bards there, i know its a friendly and results mean nowt but performaces mean everything and johnson was very poor for me as were others, he's prob not match fit yet after just 2 games and a longish lay off due to injuries, he's not ready to start games in the prem yet Poor signing just a cheap option again, he is a wank defender most people knew that before Hughes signed him, some very strange decisions have been made since last season our defence looks dodgy on paper and in reality today, yes it's a friendly however you should still be able to carry out your job in a professional manner, Muni needs a strong no nonsense CB alongside him problem is if Ryan is out we have no proper replacement.

He deserves to play beeing in the middle or at right back! He still looks our best alternative there as well, at least when Johnson has got so few games under his belt during preseason. He doesn't deserve to be right back at all, he's done absolutely nothing to keep his place there, in fact he's done so little that the manager has tried to replace him twice, let's hope Johnson works, personally I'd rather Bardsley, I was disappointed with him last season but he is the lesser of the two evils for me. Thought Cameron did quite well at right back after Christmas. Our creativity going forward is a much bigger worry the way I see it! Anyway, as we ended the season on a high I would pick the same team as started against Lpool. Need to replace Bego and Zonz of course! Butland and MVG or Sidwell instead of MVG?

Texiera is not ready for the first team, he needs loaning out, he was dog shit. Johnson was his typical self, decent going forward but too many defensive mistakes. Muniesa was missing shawcross next to him, pieters was good, afellay and van ginkel looked good and quite promising, Ireland was shit, Walters worked hard but didn't really do that much. Sidwell was alright, joselu didn't get any service but looked good when he had the ball, odemwingie made a good impact with the goal, butland couldn't of done much about the goals but did alright. This was a weak team, we had no arnie, no shawcross, no diouf, no Adam,no bojan and whelan. Our key players were rested for tomorrows game so I'm not surprised we lost putting out a team like that. Expect our strongest side tomorrow against porto and hopefully no fucking nob head commentators. You can all stop shitting yourself, it's a pre season game and hughes would never put out a team like that for a league game. What did Tex do wrong exactly?? In the 20 minutes I watched, he couldn't pass wind (no one could), he kept fouling people and was all over the shop. Just 20 minutes though and everyone was bollocks.

Johnson could do fuck all about that If he'd lunged in and conceded a penalty you fuckers would of slaughtered him He did not do his job he is there to defend he did not end of shocking signing, but hey he was free so that is all that matters.

Plus points: decent 90 mins from sjw and odenwinge was great in his second half cameo lovely well taken header to give stoke parity. Minus points we look rusty all over the pitch muniesa should have seen his mistakes result in goals ( they hit the post) Johnson is a luxury - made it into the opponents' penalty area in the first Half but gave the ball away attacking down the right on three occasions when odenwinge came on up front he was covering for Glen. Their first goal was quality - no mistake from us - their winner a minute from time was poor defending from us.
I appreciate its early days but I am interested to see how this squad is going to click on the first day of the season. Sunday sees an arguably stronger XI. Getting game time is good but I can see why mark Hughes teams always do better In the second half of the season.
Let's hope all the sloppy passes and mistakes are taking place pre-season that's what it's for.
I admit to some trepidation v Liverpool who have a lot to prove - here's to a repeat of the leeds utd 2-6 and 2-7 scores in the late 1980s although I don't feel that is likely right now.

There was a thread on here the other day saying we should all keep strong and united if we lose 5 games on the bounce. Looks like we need that advise after a narrow defeat in a pre-season friendly . Always struck me that sport in general is one of the few 'occupations' where the people who are watching ( because they are generally not talented enough to actually perform at the highest level) sit in judgement on those who ARE employed at the highest level. I wonder what the judgements would be all of us on here had their professional/job abilities judged by people who knew little about or had no ability to do any of those jobs. Would we all be happy to be told we are 'shite' or should be sacked or should think of packing in the job? When I was working, I didn't mind criticism/constructive suggestions about my standard of work BUT if the local butcher, ice cream salesman or garage mechanic did the same, not sure I would lend much, if any, credence to their comments. (Apologies to all butchers, ice cream salesmen and garage mechanics out there) (Suppose if you've paid to watch, you're entitled to judge?)

Stephen Ireland was probably the worst player on the pitch. It is only a friendly but the way he turned backwards EVERY TIME, couldn't trap a ball, couldn't pass, it was awful. We need to ship out a couple of people and he would be my first choice. Diouf second? Diouf?? Based on what, the fact he's our best striker, top goal scorer...! Rubbish

Crouch, Diouf, Arnie all competing for places, hopefully we will see a few

Why are all the Porto Players called Super Bock Porto players do not have names on shirt, or sponsor on front, instead Super Bock on back is a Portuguese beer. Love the chant at the end about getting you more pissed than stella... From Wiki. Super Bock is a Portuguese brand of strong pale lager (bock) from the Unicer brewery which produces a range of beers under the same name. Established in 1927, Unicer is based in Leça do Balio, just outside the city of Porto, Portugal. Super Bock is the most popular beer in Portugal (42% market share, September 1998)[citation needed], especially in the north of the country, and competes well against Sagres and Coral (Madeira) in the rest of Portugal. It is the only beer to have won 26 consecutive gold medals in the "Monde Selection de la Qualite".[citation needed] However, Monde Selection awards are non-competitive and only products that pay to enter are judged. It is sold in 90% of restaurants and markets in Portugal,[citation needed] and in twenty-one countries including Angola, Bermuda, Canada, Luxembourg, Mozambique, Spain, United Kingdom, Israel and the United States. This beer has a cult status among English football supporters; many discovered it during the UEFA Euro 2004 championship in Portugal. However, its history with the supporters of Manchester United goes back into the early 1990s thanks to games against the likes of F.C. Porto in the UEFA Champions League and Boavista F.C. in the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League. The fondness for "Bock" has even developed a chant for trips over in Portugal – "Super Bock, superstar, gets you more pissed than Stella Artois".[citation needed]
