It is when we get £7m for Nzonzi and £8M for Bego... makes no sense. Points to tying them in on 4 year deals on signing and renewing at 2 and we then may get what their worth is if they want to go. And in our case if they want to sign an extension . Begovic and nzonzi both ran down there contracts . Had both of these players signed an extension they would have undoubtedly had release clauses anyway It wasn't as if we didn't ask them, you can't make them sign.

Not one premier league club can stop a player leaving , Suarez signed an extension and a massive pay rise , he was gone a year later . It's a flawed system but on occasions it can work in your favour

Liverpool are certainly going to be a much more difficult team to beat this time around.
I think we will do very well to get something out of the game.

Could go either way In the first game to be fair , they could fly out of the blocks or struggle to gell .
What would help is a missing Milner as we had no Answer to him last time out against Man City

Liverpool sign 'Emile Heskey' all over again
amazing bit of deja vu here
Liverpool fans I know aren't exactly over the moon either (well- the ones with half a brain that is )
myself - Im truly delighted all that money has gone to waste (again)
being honest, I reckon - he'll (Benteke) will get 12 - 15 goals next season - lets see

Benteke is never a £30m player he is £10-15 if that. Too inconsistent and injury prone and will struggle. Ah well, Brendan spunking more money up the wall. I wouldn't send him to the shops!

It reminds me a bit of Torres and Carrol where Man City went mental and Liverpool ended up with more money than they knew what to do with.

He's worth more than 15m! U having a laugh? I'd put at least 20m or more on him and in today's market in the bpl it's probably not far away from the right amount... But I have to agree that it is inconsistentcy knocking has value back! If he played for us we'd value him at about 25m... bego was valued by us at around 20m plus last season after a good season and Arnie was being touted at nearly 15m as a Liverpool after a good end to the season, Which springs to mind on the subject of Benteke because he couldn't stop scoring in the last few games and was the only player that could actually score for villa... When he had a goal drought so did villa! I reckon they'll really struggle without Him And worse still they don't have Delph and vlaar might leave too... They may be in deep peril this coming season unless they replace these positions instead of wasting the money on a wing back that is unheard of!

This player has everything in the locker to be as good as Zlatan.
Those of you saying he's not good enough are simply daft. Name me a player outside of the top 5 in the works who could score 1 in 2 at a side like villa who create fuck all.

Pisser, if the 140k a week is right then with wages and bonuses and whatnot, he'll cost the same again - total deal around 64M all in.

Worth every penny of the fee if he was going to the right team for him...Liverpool are not that team.He would score 20 plus at Manchester United be in the Champions League and maybe have a better chance of winning the league..to my mind Man Utd have dropped a bollock not going for him.

Austin QPR created far more for Austin than Villa did for Benteke and Benteke has carried that club for three years. Austin had a fantastic season and is worth £15m, Benteke is a fantastic player and worth more than £32.5m

I can't believe this board at times. Benteke is a cracking player who will get 20 goals for Liverpool with the correct supply. Sure, £32 million is steep, but how many players aren't overpriced in today's game?

Benteke for his price or:
Sterling Carrol Lukaku Schniderlin Lallana Balotelli Di Maria Veron Bony Ideye Lambert
We live in the modern era and in the modern era Benteke is value for money!

Benteke is lethal if you know how to manage him. When Lambert lost his way at villa, he lost Benteke too. Sherwood reignited Benteke and that saved all the arses at villa last season. If Brendan can revere Benteke like he did to jaws, then we better watch out. But amazed dippers have not replaced Gerrard or Mignolet...

Not like-for-like, but Milner is about as good as they could have hoped to replace Gerrard. Hopefully Benteke won't be wasted like Carroll and Lambert were.
