I know it's been said in this post but just catching up. Unbelievable that on 6 August a decision like that made. Has shawcross not been completely honest so he could have a summer off then another couple of months. So while getting mega bucks he has or will be off for four to five months on full pay. Maybe synical thinking but to me it stinks. We might be better off without him anyway. Can't pass a ball to save his life. Not scoring from set pieces but has let in more since Pulis has gone. Stoke 1 Liverpool 3 - Benteke 2 You should be ashamed of that post. Back surgery isn't really fun and all other viable options should be taken before jumping to surgery, the timing isn't great but it is what it is. Get well soon Captain!

So, having thought about this now since the announcement a few hours ago. I have calmed a little. Certainly, a loan deal is still a favourite option for many. However, what type of player would we possibly be able to get that has a better pedigree than what we have? Thinking about it, whilst we need our captain, we could be ok and we do have players on par with those that could potentially be available.
GCam: Proven Prem Player, Proven International. - Will probably get the nod Wilson: Proven Prem Player, Proven International. - Is capable of playing there but I have not seen him much on the right of the two. Wolly: Young ball playing defender with potential and also with previous experience at International level. - I think right is his preferred position anyway? Tex: Young, unproven at Prem level but has potential. Has to be the least favourable option but we'll never know.

Stoke 1 Liverpool 3 - Benteke 2 What? Old School...change your name to just Old School. You are no Stokie. Either that or your post is a big sarcastic point that I totally haven't got. As someone has already said, you should be ashamed of that post. Our Captain has to have a long period off injured and you think he has constructed it? Like he'd have a fucking choice in the matter? The lad is worth millions to our club and you think we'd leave it to chance or to the opinion of the lad with the bad back? Get real.

I mentioned that I actually heard Ryan say that he would not take part in the Asian Cup, and that the 'scuttlebut' in Singapore was that he would have very little game time before the season started. It's now obvious that his injury is more serious than first thought and the fact that he's seeing a specialist is a real cause for concern. Not that it's 'knicker-wetting' time yet, but let's hope the defence can gel without him
NOW it might be 'knicker-wetting' time
Although......if we can stop Benteke actually GETTING the ball!!??

Looking at the roster options, my preference would be to bring in a CB before the transfer window closes. I don't trust Wilson and Wooly to get the job done over a long stretch of games.
On the bright side, the schedule certainly seems to be in the teams' favour - of the first 11 games we play all three newly promoted sides and of the top 6 we only play Liverpool, Aresenal and Tottenham.

I don't know. But a proper Shawcross replacement is more important at the moment by a mile, so needs to take preference.

If or should I say when traore comes in then I'd say that's that position filled, can't see us wanting Yarmolenko then. We're more than likely to tell the player sit tight and we'll try again in January or on a free when his contract is up. Traore will come in on the condition he gets reasonable game time i'd imagine. If the money is there then dembele and that celtic lad sound the ticket for me

If we go for someone, we need an experienced leader in the heart of our defence. Who is available that offers that though? You're not going to get anyone on the cheap who, in all likelihood, would only be a regular for three months or so. It's a tough one, but I think we do need to add. Muniesa's hamstring troubles concern me and then we're left with a flaky looking pairing who are littered with regular errors. Perhaps we can nab someone on loan?

Of course there is money available - we've not spent any yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've spent fuck all for 2 and a half years and we're seriously asking if the need for emergency centre back cover will compromise other deals. Can't even understand why Coates needs to make the point. There is fucking buckets of money!

To me we need to loan someone until January.

Michael Dawson for me from Hull, he reminds of Ryan with those diaoganal balls outwide and he's as tall as him and English and he knows what this league is all about.
We need decent cover and partner him with Muniesa and keep Cameron at right back for now until Johnson gets fitter.

Of course there is money available - we've not spent any yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure it is but why would MH risk his own reputation if he could strengthen his defence, he has to stand on the touchline shitting bricks while his team score goals but concede soft goals. If we don't bring in a centre half there is good money to be made as a betting on the "both teams to score" slip on our fixtures this season I'd say, I just hope we can outscore teams because foer the sake of bringing in the right signing for centre half I can see a lot of single points coming our way from a good chance of three points. It makes no sense not to strengthen and for that reason I'm sure we will.

I reckon Bardsley will play instead of Johnson but the rest is what he'll probably pick but the problem is NONE of them are dominant especially in the air.Teams will have a birthday from corners and free kicks against us,very very concerning This is true I guess. Geoff will have to step up and show his aerial ability, which is the one thing I really feel he lacks and Muni will just have to outjump the attacker Joselu was very good at defending corners v Koln, he seemed to get on the end of a lot of what came in.

Samba,Curtis Davies,Michael Dawson at a push. Michael Keane?
We could shop abroad but we need a prem hardened player
Don't see any obvious candidates at Prem clubs who we could get myself
Johnny Evans is no leader.

Exactly what you would expect him to say in support of Hughes.

Grant Hanley from Blackburn? Has he developed since they were in the Premiership where he seemed highly rated? He's captain there.

Indeed. MVG is superior to N'Zonzi in every single aspect of the game. Based on what evidence? To some people evidence is as irrelevant as goals.
