Easy to dismiss this as pie in the sky or dreaming. But football is a great example of points make prizes. We need a virtuous spiral. The aim has to be around 70 points which sounds like a huge leap but is winning 7 more games than last year. This in turn raises our league position, our profile and ultimately our income. Getting into the higher position should see us on tv more again raising profile and income. OK a leap from 50 points to 70 but not that daft when you think of some of the points we threw away and how well we did with often a makeshift team.

The whole 'we threw away points' thing doesn't work for me. For a start all teams throw away points over the course of a campaign and from the other point of view we also gained points as other teams threw away points against us. E.G Beating Man City. I don't see that becoming a regular 3 pointer. We lost and gained in equal measure.

If you look at Swansea's performance last season, they were not as good as Stoke against top and middling sides. They did better than Stoke because they did not lose to bottom third teams. www.soccerstats.com/team.asp?league=england&teamid=30 Home Away 1 Chelsea 0 - 5 4 - 2 2 Manchester City 2 - 4 2 - 1 3 Arsenal 2 - 1 0 - 1 4 Manchester Utd 2 - 1 1 - 2 5 Tottenham 1 - 2 3 - 2 6 Liverpool 0 - 1 4 - 1 7 Southampton 0 - 1 0 - 1 8 Swansea City 9 Stoke City 2 - 0 2 - 1 10 Crystal Palace 1 - 1 1 - 0 11 Everton 1 - 1 0 - 0 12 West Ham Utd 1 - 1 3 - 1 13 West Bromwich 3 - 0 2 - 0 14 Leicester City 2 - 0 2 - 0 No Swansea losses from 14th place downwards, home and away 15 Newcastle Utd 2 - 2 2 - 3 16 Sunderland 1 - 1 0 - 0 17 Aston Villa 1 - 0 0 - 1 18 Hull City 3 - 1 0 - 1 19 Burnley 1 - 0 0 - 1 20 QP Rangers 2 - 0 1 - 1

Ignore the threw remark if you wish, the concept remains the same. If we could reduce the injury level of last year, winning 7 more games would put us on a different level. I still maintain that is doable, not easily but not deluded as some believe.

I'm not saying that we can win the league but why couldn't we? Chelsea won it last season and we've beaten them before.
If we can beat Chelsea then it's likely that we'd beat the teams below them and smashing the lowest teams by 3+ goals. Stoke City Invincibles 15/16.

When Stoke got promoted for a short time after I thought "shit I hope we don't do a Derby" but it was clear we were never in danger of that. Since then we have progressed and the last couple of seasons have been cracking last year with all due respect was awesome. There is however a feeling that we could do better and the Manager and Club look to be trying to sign better quality players all the time, 4 yrs ago no way would anyone think a Bojan, Kono or Shaqiri would ever play for Stoke or even look to us as a realistic proposition but it's happening now and long may it continue. There is more to come at Stoke and we are one star away from opening the floodgates for a golden period at the Brit.

The main issue I have is the whole 20+points / 7 more wins for next season. It's just not realistic and won't happen. We've got more chance of winning Euro 2016.

No bubble to burst mate but being linked with them is a plus as far as I see things. I think a few years ago it would have been laughable to think of the likes of Kono etc but not now and that for me is an indication as to how far the club have come, IMHO there IS more to come and it would only take one "star" player to sign and others will come. I know it's all about money and I except we may well never spend £20 million on one player but who knows I for one hope and think we will become an exciting team to support for years to come.

For me Bojan is a much bigger name than Kono mate. Shaq is a big name though. Even with a couple of household names (Bojan, Crouch) it's still difficult for us to sign certain players. Personally I think we'll start seeing some exciting talent coming from the reserves / youth team based on who we're/we've signed this summer.

Agreed and at the time Crouch was a massive signing as was Bojan but their presence at Stoke will help us with new signings. I don't for one minute think Lionel will sign but players from the "next level" will look at us rather than dismiss us out of hand. At the end of the day only Stoke can pay the money to sign the players so it's down to them but they are trying and to some degree succeeding.
