Everyone seems to have misinterpreted Hughes quote and wet their pants over it! He's good with the media and therefore he said the best thing he could have; we have good options there already (Adam, Cameron, Sidwell, Shenton?)- this comforts our current squad. Plus we also are looking to bring someone in which is the likely option imo Non of those are good options, thats the point. The point is that even if they aren't, Hughes publicly has to state they are! He can't slag them off can he

Although it's not the kind of player I want leaving Stoke, I really don't feel that gutted. I doubt Bego or Zonz are bad eggs but the negativity around wanting to leave (mostly Zonz) can't be good for bonding. The last player that left that I was truly gutted about was Thorney.

I'm gutted by this news, but it was kind of inevitable. N'Zonzi's the best midfielder I've ever seen at Stoke- replacing him will be very, very difficult.

I know Pulis gets stick for a lot of his signings, but he's pulled off some excellent ones as well. For me, N'zonzi is right at the top of his list with Fuller, Shawcross etc in terms of the impact he's had for the price we paid. A fantastic piece of business. N'zonzi has been the heart of our team since he joined. Everything goes through him, and his composure and ability to relieve pressure is absolutely pivotal to our style of play, and is criminally underrated by those that think every player in the team is there to score goals or stop goals. He has been an excellent addition to our team and his last season with us was his best. We can look back fondly at his final appearance for Stoke; perhaps the best individual performance I've seen from one of our players and it was capped off by curling the fifth goal into the top corner before half time. I didn't like his attitude off the pitch, the summer histrionics were tedious, but he was sublime on the pitch and that's all that really matters. He didn't let us down when he put on the shirt. Sadly, our best players will eventually outgrow us: his desire to play in the Champions League isn't something we could give him and from a career perspective he did what he had to do and he's now playing at a top Spanish team who are at a much higher level than us, where a player of his talent should be. I, for one, hope he does well in the rest of his career; he has done easily enough to earn my respect for his talent. All the best Steve, it's been a pleasure. I logged on just to like this. N'Zonzi used to annoy me for constantly slowing down play. A summer or two ago I'd be happy to cash in on him. That's why I'm not a football manager! I never realised he just needed better players to be around him! I hope he does well and I will follow his career. Not a full Stoke legend but a hugely impressive player to have graced us with his presence for a few years. Also worth noting N'Zonzi is the first player in a long time we've lost to a bigger club. Something that will happen more and more if we're to progress! Enjoy what we have, while we have it. It's the modern way! Gutted today but there are gems out there to be found both in terms of replacing N'Zonzi and in general. Let's hope Hughes and his team can unearth a couple! Wonderful goal. For every one of them, there was a dozen shockers though.

Absolutely gutted he's gone.
The best midfielder at SCFC since Alan Hudson (though it has to be said not really in Hudson's class).
Now he's gone I wish him and his new club nothing but ill fortune.
Fuck him and them.
And yes I am a bitter old man, but I am trying to be a better person.
Honest.

It would have been easier to take had it been in a previous season but we saw the best of Zonz last season.
Just sad that he was so moody and classless, never better exemplified than not turning up for his POTS award.

Been going for 30 years though so considering all the midfielders I've seen in that time it still gives a rather worrying sense of perspective on what we've got to replace.

Who to replace him though? He's a big loss.

I wish i was man enough to wish him well, but im not. Like when an ex gf leaves you, cant help but hope bad things happen and she comes crawling back with her tail between her legs begging for what she once had. (She never came back )

I must be an insensitive bastard.
It's taken me till this season to actually warm to him so I can't feel too upset. I've never liked the end of season 'I want to move' ' my sons better than Stoke attitude' .
I'm not convinced he will do that well at Seville, I think the speed of the English game suits him better. Time will tell.
I'm confident we'll replace him and continue to progress. Exciting times.
Bego's in the same boat for me too. Been a bit naughty back in the day and I can't forget it. I'm looking forward to watching Jack progress and take the #1 position. I think it's exciting having the England U21 captain as our goal keeper.
