I ask that in all seriousness. The likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea etc obviously have players far better technically than England, but watching England these last few years I genuinely think the current Stoke side would have beaten that England side fielded today.

No doubt for me, some good individuals at England but it's so far from a team its untrue and sadly it has been that way for a while.

In all honesty I think most premier league sides first 11 would beat England

I would say very roughly Stoke would win 4, lose 3 and draw 3 in any given 10 games so on balance just about yes.
And while that is great fun I really don't think it's a good thing, the paucity of English talent I mean, we seem to be seeing if we can follow Scotland down the plug hole.

Man for man, the England players are probably better than the Stoke players. It then comes down to whether the players gel as a team and how good the respective managers are. So, Hodgson or Hughes? Stoke victory I believe.

I think there is a certain amount of stoke bias.
Who from Stoke would get in the England team?
Bojan, N Zonzi, Bego - probably (certainly in squad) Maybe - Ryan, Marc, Arnie?
But we'd have a chance because we are a team.
Tbh I'd probably back England in a one off, but over say 10 games I reckon we'd win 2 or 3 and draw the same

No chance, that England side is full of World class players you know, or so we are led to believe week in week out.

I think we'd beat England about the same number of times we'd beat Liverpool or Spurs over a 10 game period.
We'd definitely have the upper hand at The Brit I reckon.
England are fucking terrible at the moment. The worst side we've had since Taylor was in charge.

However, you cant fully judge England on that one performance and I don't think that it would be a given if we were playing a motivated English side, but we'd definitely give them a game.

We'll qualify with ease and then come up woefully short when it counts. Again.

We'll qualify with ease and then come up woefully short when it counts. Again. This is inevitably always the case. There's a huge disconnect between qualifying against the likes of Lithuania and then playing Italy or France in the tournament itself. Qualifying is meaningless, essentially they're all dead rubbers if we can get through unbeaten with the current team. Scrap the qualifications for Tier 1 sides and run the UEFA tournament every 2 years. Let the European Tier 2 sides go through a more meaningful qualification scrap. I simply do not enjoy watching England play San Marino, it's a mismatch. International football needs tweaking and we have the perfect opportunity to do some right now!
