Bashing young English prospects just because they've signed for a big team. It's very typical behaviour of football fans in this country at the moment, moan that we have a shit national team but then right off any youngster that is given the chance and signs for a big team. They could spend 50m on a foreign striker that wouldn't guarantee them anymore success than signing Ings and clubs should be praised for taking a chance on homegrown talent in my opinion. Sent from my C6603 using proboards I wouldn't 'knock' the lad because he had a good season in a struggling team. My worry (for him) would be that he's moving to a much bigger club with much higher expectations and I don't think he'll suit their manager's style of play at all. Almost before the ink was dry on his contract, Rogers indicated that there was no place at Liverpool for the big striker he had and duly packed him off to West Ham. He then (amazingly) signed Lambert who also (clearly) doesn't fit in there and now he's signing Ings who won't suit their system either. Danny Ings has made a good start to his career and he may go on to be a top player but Liverpool (IMO) is not where he'll flourish whilst Brendan Rogers is in charge. I expect him to be sitting on his backside far more than he plays to be honest. Having said all of that, I don't blame the lad for leaping at the chance to join them. He's young and he'll back himself to be successful there and, if all else fails, he's no doubt getting a very good contract and will be young enough to make his mark elsewhere in the future if it doesn't happen for him at Liverpool. Regardless of how we might see it, these young players have to grab their opportunities when they present themselves.

I think Rogers was incredibly lucky to have Suarez on the books when he took over at Liverpool and it's glaringly obvious that Liverpool are a 'pale shadow' without him. I accept what a huge blow it was in losing him but Rogers spent well over 100 Million pounds on players and made Liverpool a much worse team last season. In fairness, their defence was bloody awful the season before when they came close to winning the title.

I would've thought he'd be a decent signing for us, provided he didn't want stupid money. Thought he was quite a tidy player who could hold the ball up a bit and at the same time run the channels quite well. Might not necessarily been starting every week but always good to have options.

One of the main reasons Ings has decided on Liverpool could well be that around Xmas time he started "going out" with a Liverpool lass (glamour girl/showbiz C lister-type) and he has been spending a lot of time (socialising and stopping over) on Merseyside ever since.
Spurs put a fly in the ointment by bidding £12 million while Liverpool have only offered to pay Burnley £4 million. Now the talk is that Burnley will get about £7/8 million decided by a tribunal. Softens the blow of losing him a little.
