Do you know who the agency was, I have always been curious? It certainly wasn't Eddie Opara at Pentagram, New York, or someone of that calibre and deserved global reputation I know that much. I've got one of my students on a twelve month placement there at the moment and their standards are sky high. Just saying. I presume it was an outfit already known to Rawlins and he got a 'good deal'. Since he made his pile by founding a highly successful IT sales and marketing consulting company and then selling it at the top of the market it always seemed strange to me that he signed off on such a tacky effort, a real schoolboy error in truth. Now he has gone I think it would be appropriate to brief the job again to a couple of respected agencies and see if we can't get it done properly this time.

Never heard of Eddie Opara, is he a good drawerer? Just a bit yeah. That FedEx thing looks a bit shit though.

It screams what the fuck is that animal at the bottom meant to be to me. What is it? It's a bull. Juve is from Torino and the name of the city comes from the word 'toro' which means bull. I sided with Unicorn, I'm gutted.

I know of a perfect one in based in Manchester and another in the north west of England. Plus I'd redraw it myself given half a chance.

Just a bit yeah. That FedEx thing looks a bit shit though. Damn clever and talked about constantly. The fact it's mentioned in the context of football speaks volumes.

People are free to dismiss Picasso just as long as I'm free to say they don't know what the fuck they're looking at if they do!

In the list of priorities this is way down. Having a red collar is more offensive to me.

It's not a badge. If you are called Stoke City and play in red and white stripes, adding "1863" beneath the words Stoke City and red and white stripes doesn't make it a badge.
Just a very banal statement-of-the-bleeding-obvious.
We should incorporate a staffordshire knot at the very least to broaden our appeal in mid/south staffs.

It's straight to the point, 'Stoke City', 'The Potters', '1863' and red and white stripes all transferable onto a small badge that has become instantly recognisable as Stoke. I love it. Got to admit, I don't see a problem with the badge we have now.....I quite like it!!!

It used to a badge of honour to me (every pun intended) that we had a Camel on our crest. The new one feels like it was designed by a committee who's knowledge of Stoke City is entirely from the pages of Wikipedia.

The fact it is blue has nothing to do with Iceland! The badge was commissioned by Phil Rawlins and designed by an agency in the States. The badge represents the 3 things that SCFC is famous for. The red and white stripes, our founding date and our heritage. It was designed to be simple and easy to replicate on different medium. We own it, unlike the City crest. It is our principal branding statement and if was commercially important to change it. The blue provides a frame, a contrast. If a child can copy it easily then it has done the job. It is instantly recognisable and understood globally. I seem to remember that the powers-that-be decided to drop black from our badge, and replace it with blue, because black was considered an aggressive colour and us Stokies were considered to be a bit too naughty at that time.

This. Away fans used to shite themselves when they saw that black bit on the badge on my scalf. ;-)

The old badge represents Stoke as tired and nostalgic. The new one represents a new start and optimism. Lol, bollocks. It represents a 5 year old with a set of felt tip pens. Drop the pathetic blue potters bit and it's nearly there. You say that, but just lastnight I was talking to a girl in her 20's & asking what is my accent, she said is that where Robbie is from & asked if he was our most famous son, to which I exclaimed Josiah Wedgwood & she said Who! We need to keep The Potters
