So what does it actually mean? We have three stripes on the badge, do they represent the tower blocks of Hanley? The fighting spirit of the three musketeers? Or nothing at all? Obviously Stoke City FC is our club's name and 1863 is the year we won the cup, but what about the rest. Does anybody know?

Don't think it means anything. The city's crest was replaced with a more basic, easily identifiable one for marketing purposes I always thought?

Stoke's traditional strip, is a red and white striped shirt. Founded in 1863. Nothing more romantic than that, except that it also happens to be the greatest football club in the world, and I am privileged to support it.

Incorporate a kiln for the middle stripe, The Potters for Vis UNITA Fortior and change blue to gold maybe would improve it vastly.

I like this badge, it's fine. Think it's a bit dull. Would love to see the old city crest return. Did the city use the old Stoke crest as their city crest or was it the other way around? Perhaps Port Vale might use the city crest in the future? Could it happen?

By the way, 1863 is when the club was formed, not the year we won the cup. That's 2016.

Think it was changed when the icelandics took over and they wanted the blue in it! The old badge was much better

We also don't own the rights to it so anybody could use the crest and make their own Stoke merchandise.

I like this one for sure, the Staffordshire knot and the local firing Kilns, yeah! But hey, what about this one... Anybody care to explain this? It looks like ancient hieroglyphics to me. A pot, Camel, Scythe, Bird and a Pig's head at the top. When and why did we start using Vis Unita Fortior? Very strange combination.

I think the bird could be from the Albanian flag. Do we have any Albanian connections?

The elements of the crest are taken from the individual arms of each town within Stoke On Trent. The pot is the Portland Vase from Burslem's, the Boar is from Stoke-Upon Trent's, The Camel is from Hanley's, the Eagle is from Longton, the scythe from Tunstall and the actual cross itself it from Fenton's. These are all very ancient emblems dating back to Medieval times, so their origin is anyone's guess.

It was a Rawlins rush job to get something cheap and cheerful to easily gum on the shirts.
Heaven knows why it is as much blue as it is red or white.
A dismal way to throw away 150 years of history in all truth.

I like the badge as an image honestly and to me personally that's all it is. It's a way of identifying our club, and it's the team and the city of Stoke that matter not the badge that represents it imo.
