Personally I would prefer to applaud our players for the whole match rather than give Gerrard even more focus.
Couldn't care less about him.

Fantastic job though... would give us that "most hated" tag back from the media for sure!

I think you're privileged to be seeing Gerrard's last premier game. Give the man the respect he deserves

I think you're privileged to be seeing Gerrard's last premier game. Give the man the respect he deserves Thanks, but no thanks. He's never played for Stoke, never will, and owes me nowt. And another thing, at the end of the match he better not come back out and hijack OUR celebration. He had his day last week, tomorrow is our turn.

I think you're privileged to be seeing Gerrard's last premier game. Give the man the respect he deserves Firstly he had his send off last week - he'd be stupid to turn up tomorrow. Secondly I don't care what the worlds media thinks I'll be there tomorrow as I always am at Stoke games to support Stoke & in particular to recognise 2 excellent servants to the club Wilko & Tommo - whether they play or not.

He has cancelled his boxes for tomorrow's game so that would surely mean he's not starting at least

Anything other than applause will make us look small time & inbred, irrespective of what we privately feel. The Global Press will be gathering at The Brit on Sunday and it does our Club absolutely no favours by slagging off Gérrard. Think about it. This Quite amazed how determined some on here are to put their own personal agendas and prejudices ahead of the interests of the club. There is a difference between that and this. It can't be that difficult to get the difference. “It is a huge thing for British football. “He has been a fantastic servant to his club and to the game at the top level. “It is right that it should be recognised but we will be saying to everyone that we haven’t done badly either this season. Well, I haven't heard a truly NOISY ( or even co-ordinated ) "Delilah" since the first Prem season ( at home, that is ) so that's not accurate As for all the potential Gerrard songs, they may amuse some to sing but he really isn't going to be either bothered or affected is he, so what is the point ? Well he seemed jolly well affected a few weeks back at Chelsea if his bitter post match interview was anything to go by, he may be a bit of a hero on merseyside but hes no where near in the Beckham, Scholes or Lampard bracket for me, in fact other than achievements for country you can throw Giggs in there too. my view, he has remained loyal to his home town club and played well for them in an average side that cost billions, he has plyed OKish for England and now he is securing his familys future by playing the money game in the US.......basically a loyal has been that could have achieved far more in a better side i think his family future was secured years ago.

I just hope those with a touch of decency and sporting spirit win the day here. I don't want him hailed as some kind of superstar 'saint' because I've seen much, much better than Gerrard but I do want Stoke fans to do the right thing and they all KNOW what that is. Some need to take a good look at themselves IMO.

I will glady applaud when we he walks out, and when he leaves the pitch (I'm assuming he gets substituted) but if you expect me to applaud his every pass and cheer if he scores, this is never going to happen. He's an opponent, end of. And, as I've said before, if he is on the pitch at the end, he needs to make a sharp exit as today is our day, he had his last week. If this offends, I make no apology. I support Stoke City, NOT Liverpool.

What you initially suggested i.e. applauding him prior to, and possibly after, the match is (IMO) just about right and I don't think anyone, at any stage, has suggested doing any more than that. I just want Stoke fans to show that they are the equal of any others and not to get them singled out as morons and idiots (which some on here would gladly do, it seems).

He's got fuck all do with Stoke so why are Stoke expected to give a shit ? He's an opponent playing for the opposition, nothing more nothing less . it depends on what think football is about? Obviously it means different things to different people. Is it just sheer tribalism? The quote from our own manager show that you can both very competitive and respectful. They're not necessarily conflicting.

He's got fuck all do with Stoke so why are Stoke expected to give a shit ? He's an opponent playing for the opposition, nothing more nothing less . If you are a fan that is entirely fixated on Stoke City to the exclusion of any kind of interest in the wider football world then 'fair enough' and you are entitled to your opinion. I am 100% behind my club and have been for more than 50 years but I also have an interest in football and I hope that my support for my club has no impact whatsoever in my being able to offer a reasonable and balanced view of all matters 'football'. Of course Gerrard is nothing to do with Stoke which means that I have no interest in 'bigging him up' or affording him the level of adulation that some might have. By the same token, it also means that I have no 'beef' with him and can at least recognise that he is worthy of a modicum of polite applause from people who claim to be 'football supporters'. I think it's an entirely reasonable view for a football fan to take regardless of which club he/she supports but you're welcome to your view. I just hope your view is overshdowed by those who think as I do, on the day, and that it's not our fans' poor sportsmanship that makes the headlines tomorrow.

I can get why it's a special day for Liverpool fans but that's because he's a Liverpool player. He has no connection to Stoke . It's got nothing to do with us. Each to their own I suppose but he/it means nothing to me so he won't be getting any applause. My respect and applause will be saved for our own lot

Nothing against Gerard but him and Liverpool mean nothing to me as a Stoke fan. GĂ©rard has done nothing out standing and he certainly hasn't had an impact on me or SCFC and is therefore irrelevant. Im sure most Stoke fans won't have a jizz fest over him but those few that do are well within their rights and I'm well within my rights to not get involved . Each to their own

My respect and applause will be saved for our own lot I think that is fair enough. There is a difference between focussing on our own players (which I think is the right way to go) and trying to stir up abuse targeting Gerrard including aspects of his personal life etc, which just comes over as childish and small minded. Whatever you think of SG that doesn't reflect well on the club. Our fans being focussed on our own players is what everyone would expect. I think people are getting over excited by the media circus and wanting to respond to that rather than the football. The media is just that.....a circus, they are over the top and create a distorted picture of everything, this is no different. That is not going to change today.
