I really do hope Hughes isn't given the bargain list with which to shop from.
Not that he hasn't done some very good business in the past using that system but now, surely, we can at least go all out for the right player….i.e. Charlie Austin?

Talk Sport quoting La Gazzetta dello Sport: Stoke are seen as the favourites to sign the Italy international - with scouts believed to have watched the forward against Juventus on Saturday.

The way I see it is that MH looks on Mame as our no.1 striker and rather than spending big money on a back up he's looking at decent cheaper options. Hopefully the bigger money will be spent on first teamers at DM, RB and winger.

Okaka didn't play against Juve at the weekend. The plot thickens Obiang did. As did Roberto Soriano. Alfred Duncan, on loan from Inter, also made an appearance...

38 goals in 92 games for a 20 year old is a pretty decent record don't you agree? plus, he is contracted to Juventus, just because his opportunities are limited due to the fine form of players like Tevez doesn't mean he isn't a hot prospect does it? just look at players like Lukaku and Sturridge in England, players who couldn't get a kick at Chelsea but were obviously talented. I'm not saying he's in that class but I reckon he has a very bright future. But hey, that's just my opinion. GF, my original post was recommending him. I obviously rate the guy, but to be titled 'Italy's next big' thing is a bit much IMHO.

4 goals in 33 appearances! He's prolific then!!! To be fair Adam from the midfield has 5 in 26!

If we really mean business, if there is truly ambition to reach the next level, if all the talk that Hughes will be given money to spend this summer is true and not utter bollocks, then the man we should be doing all we can to acquire is Charlie Austin. He's perfect in all accounts. A proven goal scorer at premier league level having bagged shitloads of goals even whilst playing for a crap team full of oldies and has-beens. Certainly premiership level but perhaps not good enough to attract the interest of the very top teams. So with a club like us he'd fit in perfectly. Otherwise all we would be doing is to continue to shop in the bargains basement so don't expect any improvement on last season

QPR would be twats to deal with I reckon and I'm not sure what he's worth….to them and to us. And what about his probably inflated salary? I've have no answer to either of these questions but can't help feeling he'd be overpriced. I could see West Ham being in for him although how they'd square that with Carroll I don't know and Sakho has played well for them. Swansea may be interested too and perhaps Southampton. That said, I do like him and feel he'd fit us well.
