Your concern for a billionaires wallet is touching.
Nobody got rich by handing out freebies, our owners are one of the best in British football so let's enjoy what we have They are great owners, but that doesn't and shouldn't stop PAYING fans wanting more. The way fans are treated is nothing short of a disgrace given the money coming into the club.

Gambling is a boom industry worldwide and fortunately british companies are very good at it. Horse race gambling has been a hobby of mine since the sixth form and one of the great things about the UK has been the freedom to indulge.
If the coates family weren't major players someone else (possibly foreign) would take their place and stoke city would be poorer for it.
The only area of concern for me is that whilst these are great british companies I suspect their off shore registrations may be limiting the amount of british tax they pay.

Those people have a choice at the end of the day. Maybe, although I dare ask ever wonder why you tend not to see betting shops or fast food restaurants in more 'affluent' areas? They have people betting hundreds of thousands, so I don't think it is just the working class, when you see how much footballers gamble, it's all sorts.

Isn't Bet365 basically owned/ran by Denise mainly. While the club is owned/ran by Sir Peter and son.
Hence the bet365 empire/funds are not there for the taking.

Yes, but doesn't mean they're all equal. Denise is the founder, CEO and majority shareholder of Bet365 with over 50% of the shares. She's also not really involved with the club unlike PC and JC. So I imagine that whenever PC or JC want to make a significant investment from bet365 that they need to run it by her.

Peter owns less than 10% of Bet365 whilst Denise owns over 50%. The club, via its holding company. is virtually 100% owned by Bet365 - of which, remember, Denise owns over 50%. But Peter and his son sit on the club board and make most of the day to day decisions regarding the club. But, as Denise owns over 50% of the company which ultimately owns the club, she wields the REAL power over the club in that, if she didn't like what the board was doing she could, presumably, step in and ensure that things were done her way. So far she seems happy to let the club board get on with things.

So in conclusion, Bet365 does not = Stoke City, and just because the company makes money doesn't mean the club can spend it.

Denise is the majority shareholder of 365 so whilst she probably has very little input day to day, I imagine any major decision's need her rubber dildo stamp. The thing to remember is although they are fantastic owners compared to most of the field, the value of the club far outweighs the £60M debt. If they sold tomorrow they would make a substantial profit whether with or without the training ground and stadium.

The reason for this is an interview (post-match I think) TP did in the Feb/March before he was fucked off. I forget the actual phrasing but the bit that caught my attention was when he said "if she thinks..........then let her carry on" (or summat like that). I was (very) surprised to hear him mention a female and realistically it could only have been Denise, from that point on I was pretty sure his time was nearly up.

Yes, my post was to correct any any misapprehensions which might arise from your comment that the club was "owned/run by Peter and his son". It is certainly largely "run" by Peter and his son but ultimately "owned" by Bet365 in which Denise has a majority interest.

With you on this one Puggerz. Coates should be splashing the cash more both on and off the field. Hughes has worked miracles given how little we've spent in the past 5 or 6 transfer windows. Coates should't be doing anything it's his money that him and his family have made. It's completely his choice how he spends it and I'm eternally grateful for every penny he's given the club already, and will do in the future. What a bizarre statement. Why are you grateful for every penny? He owns and runs a business that you invest in. You therefore have every right to request expenditure and ask questions. That's life.

So you go into Tesco's every couple of weeks and spend £45 on your shopping. So in your eyes you now invest in Tesco's and have the right to request a better music system, improved car parking and topless check out girls. Good luck with that one but if you do get your demands met let me know which Tesco it is. Customers whether paying for bread or football games are just that and may if they wish go somewhere else (FOUTV!). Unless you are the missing investor who owns the 2%+ of the shares of course.

End of the day, the club is worth more now (and in the future still) than it was when PC bought it. Irrespective of whatever apparent debt there is between the club and bet365 property holding company (or whatever). Regardless of which Prem club you are, the spending MH has made so far is well below what could and would be expected of an established Premier League team. I don't think it's too much to expect an available net spend of 20m a season for transfer funds. It's what Tone got, and that was prior to the increase in TV revenue which is soon going to increase again. Whether that is available to MH or if he decides to spend it is another matter. I personally believe what the club says in terms of right player for the right price.

I don't for one minute think that any of us on this board would like our own personal financial status be bandied around for discussion by all and sundry. While I think gambling is the ruination of many families, the Coates family exercise their given right to utilise this as a very successful business and some of the profits of which have undoubtedly aided the football club I love. Therefore I thank the Coates family sincerely for their involvement and wish them every success for their businesses.

But as it becomes more about the 'brand' than the game the glory hunting pull gets bigger. Scudamore said during the Moyes era that not having the shit in the top 4 was hurting the brand of the PL. The Coates' as you say have the right to spend their money how ever they want and supporters can have opinions but that's about as strong as it gets. Concerns can be presented by the SC but there's no right to have them acted on. Did we just agree there?
