Currently reading A Brief History of Seven Killings set in Jamaica at the time of the attempted assassination of Bob Marley in 1976 before a peace concert intended to calm things ahead of a general election. Just read a bit about how Marley was annoyed about the factionalism in Jamaican politics; socialism, communism, Marxism etc (too early for Thatcherism!). And how all these "ism's" divided people who should be coming together. And he wrote about it in Get Up Stand Up.
Always liked this song and remembered this line, just never realised how brilliant it was!
Any other great single line lyrics jump to mind?

I always found the line from a song from the 80's by Snap ( I think ) called the power a bit odd. "I'm as serious as cancer, when I say rhythm is a dancer" What the fuck was that on about. We used to say " I'm as serious as a frontal lobotomy, when I say the rhythm has a gotten me "

But maybe not. Can't help thinking the great man let himself down with this less than inspired lyric;

Guess this is the sort of thread the late lamented ************** would have been busy in! But in his absence I'll throw in another gem.
This time the Bard of Salford John Cooper Clarke and a line from his tragic love song I Married a Monster from Outer Space;

....or how about "wiggle wiggle wiggle like a bowl of soup"- Bob Dylan 1990. This thread was going to go one of two ways - if it got going at all of course. A serious consideration of deep, meaningful powerful emotive writing or a celebration of silliness. Anyway the wind blows (though) it doesn't matter to me...

There is a fondness for Bob Marley and his music world wide , but one has to visit West Africa to truly appreciate his adoration across this part of the continent .
His music is played 24/7 . You never hear anything other than Bob Marley . Music is Bob Marley.
As a result any fondness I once had has now turned to boring contempt.

Any single line from Jamie T - Sheila, 2 of my particular favourites are
"Good heavens you boys, blue blooded murder of the English tongue - BLUGH"
And
"Well done jack glug down that cider, you're right she's a slut and you never fucking liked her"
