Would a season long loan be out of the question? Would suit all parties would it not?

It's not us that leaked it!!!! I know that but it seems that we always have transfers leaked and it has to be the way we are handling it. No other club experiences this other than the top 6, and most of them are just rumours and even they can complete deals in more silence than we can! Everyone is linked and transfers are leaked everywhere. You just notice it more because you're a stoke fan. We do get players on the quiet but some are out of our control

Two huge public rejections? No squad improvements, we've signed a keeper, a striker and a CB, are they not going to be part of the squad? I still think the squad is weaker from the end of the season tbh. But it won't be by the end of the window. Don't help him

Bound to happen when the player in question is a higher profile signing? Very likely for higher profile player. If player going to one of our top 6, agent happy to keep quiet as he has done well for his client. If the bidder is outside top 6, then agent likely to 'leak' to try and stir the big beasts into action for his client. For lesser known players (Joselu. Payet (WHU) and others), agents just glad to have got their client in to the Prem on high wages and fees - so no breaking silence. IMHO!

People are reading too much into things, complicating matters, believing the crap that is being put about by attention seekers and ill informed journalists. We obviously got close to agreeing terms in Jan, parted on good terms. Things haven't worked out for him at Inter and he is open to joining us - we know that - hence our bid. I am sure we are again agreeing terms with his team, but on the basis that Shaqiri is given some time to mull things over and see if a champs league team from one of the top leagues in Europe match the offer and the personal terms. Maybe we will give him a week or two I don't know. Some journalists will say he has turned us down etc because it has not happened yet etc - they just need to write stories. But there is a prospect of this happening unless a Man City, Man U, Arse etc come in for him. It won't happen overnight and I am sure the player is waiting it out a short while Stop talking bloody sense. The knicker wetters on here will never learn. We are the worst club in the land at sorting out transfers. Our transfer team are shit and it should have been all sorted out in 5 minutes. Jesus I wish people would calm down. If he comes fantastic, if he doesn't we move on.

Ffs, I understand that he wants to keep his options open but why can't we either keep it private to avoid let down and being laughed at by the world of football? We never seem able to do( apart from Joselu, but that's the first time I've seen it happen in recent memory) but other clubs can. We also never seem able to shake off the tag TP got us, don't know why but it's costing us signings. im sounding a bit like biscuit but I hope MH can do it. What makes you think that the potential transfer of Switzerland's most famous player from one of the biggest clubs in Italy to a club in the most hyped league in the world could ever be kept private?

Reading some of the negativity and impatience on this thread, I'm not sure what fans actually expect? First and foremost, Stoke City won't be the "dream move" for 99.9% of professional footballers. That is true of most teams. We all like to think players have a desire to pull on the red and white jersey, and I think many do when they actually get here and start playing, but when it comes to transfers we're just one of many options available to a player. That is true for most deals but it becomes even more apparent when you start to target the players we're going for. Top flight players aren't going to jump at the chance to sign for us. Most players will take their time and weigh up their options. That doesn't mean they're messing us about or using us to fish out a move to a bigger club. It's just part and parcel of the game. I laud the club for having the ambition to try and get to the next level. None of the deals may come off but at least we're giving them a good go. I'm sure we could easily pick up many decent players that would come in and fluff up the squad, but what's the point in that? We've done brilliantly over the past two seasons and we're reaching a point now where it's going to take a big effort to go even further. That's quite clearly what the club are trying to do. The club doesn't publicise these deals. That's just the world we live in and a by product of social media. As for clubs laughing at us? Who really gives a fuck? When did we become a set of fans that is bothered what others think about us? Plus, we've got Bojan so they can all fuck off Times are good. Let's have a bit of patience and let the management team try and take us one step further.

Who realistically are the teams seen as a different level than us across Europe...surely he's got to be wanting to play in either Italy, Germany, Spain, France or England. Off top of my head I'd see at something like..
Italy: Juve, AC, inter, Roma, Lazio Germany: Munich, Leverkusen, Dortmund Spain: Barca, Madrid, Athletico, Sevilla, Valencia, maybe Villareal France: PSG, Monaco, Lyon, Marseille England: Chelse, Citeh, Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spuds
How many of those can be ruled out straight away...,

No other club experiences this other than the top 6, and most of them are just rumours and even they can complete deals in more silence than we can! I think on this occasion with it coming from Sky Sports Italia, it 100% has come from the Inter side either agents trying to say "look he is available" or the club saying "we are willing to let him go come and get him" to other clubs. Our failed bid in January I think was from us as more of a publicity thing if anything. I would love it if every deal went like Joselu did but unfortunately these days there are too many fingers in the pie and money hungry agents trying to get the biggest deal.

Be clear I'm negative the transfer team because I believe they will deliver on their next level rhetoric That doesn't make me a cunt but if you get a thrill typing it knock yourself out . It actually makes me a sceptic about the transfer team not our team , manager or owners who I have he greatest admiration for. You've predicted that we'd be in the bottom three by Christmas for the last two seasons - the team and the manager have repeatedly made you look like a right mug. Ergo you've had to turn to different pastures to spew out your negative bile on.

I would say more like 09.9%, the rest I am sure would settle for £80,000 a week in a top 10 prem side!

Not sure if this could help in any way but Hughes spent time on loan at Bayern Munich and this was a stepping stone to his move to Man Utd.
Shaqiri moved from Bayern to try and get more games I believe, this hasn't worked out at Inter, so Stoke could be a good "stepping stone" to move to a "bigger club"

What I can't understand is why aren't any other clubs in for him? He's a player I rate very highly and I just can't fathom why the likes of Liverpool wouldn't be in for him to replace Sterling for example. You would think a host of clubs across Europe would be taking a serious interest in him.
I applaud us trying for him but ultimately I just can't see us pulling it off. Fingers crossed though!
