He won't be staying at Inter, Mancini has very nicely said that there's no space, they've been very active in the window and they accepted our offer with zero fuss, he may not be coming to Stoke but he won't be playing for Inter On a proud Stokie note, he won't be doing much better than us, failed at Bayern, rejected Liverpool, joined Inter and failed there, 6 months later we have a bid very publicly accepted and as of yet no hijacking, no nothing, no Liverpool reigniting interest, bugger all Saying he failed might be a tad harsh because he wasn't given much of a chance at either, we all know he's a top top top footballer but he has to show it, he won't be showing it on the bench (at best) at Inter, he needs guaranteed game time and we can offer him that I'm not having any of this "we're not appealing, why would he want to come" bollocks, we did wonders for Arnie and did what European giants failed to do for Bojan, if Shaqiri wants a stage to prove that he can do it then Stoke is the perfect place, not to mention the millions we're willing to throw at him to ice the cake Arnie never has or will be as highly rated as shaqiri. Bojan star status had well and truly died following failed stints at several clubs in several countries. Players like shaqiri, Kono and roberto especially are a cut above Stoke City at the moment and if we achieve to get 1 or more of these 3 then we have massively over achieved and sirs Hughes, Scholes and Cartwright will deserve all the credit they get along with Coates who we are lucky to have who is willing to spend the cash to get them here.

Even if he was beginning to read the writing on the wall and knew that he was on his way out from Inter, he has nothing to gain by telling his current club or anyone else that he is keen on us. This could all just be posturing and hoping for a better offer elsewhere or more "encouragement" from Inter.
In the end he might not actually want to come but it might be his best move in the circumstances and he may yet realise this. Far from over this one.

That should be end of him as far as we are concerned, seems like he told Stoke a few days/even weeks ago that he wasn't coming,so all the speculation has been via journalists trying make a livin! If Arnie starts season as he ended then we are ok without this player anyway, plus Odem fit too

If it stays as it is, Walters or even Diouf out wide (please don't do it Sparky) will start over Odem.

Our best chance of getting better players, are the ones at bigger clubs, where they are prevented from getting playing time because they understudy big name players and haven't yet done enough to attract too much attention. Obviously more of a risk, but this window has shown that we aren't a big enough name to attract the bigger players and money isn't enough.

The Kono saga wasn't for lack of trying and one of the main reasons he didn't come was the third party, not anything else. And this Shaqiri deal is not over yet. As it stands we are the only deal in place for a player that is not scheduled to be in the 25 player squad. People on here are so negative- there is always another plan even without these players and we still seem to thrive. It is a great time to be a supporter and we all act as if we are in a relegation battle every season.

There's at least four websites now saying all the same thing , that being he wants to stay and has ruled out a move to Stoke.
I don't know if our local radio station has reported much on the events of the last few weeks , but Ive certainly not heard much .
Anyone else shed any light on Radio Stokes reporting of the events ?

I'm really at a loss as towards the last paragraph, Hughes a massive yes, as for Scholes & Cartwright based on exactly what do you base the statement on. Hughes identities his preferred choices, we (allegedly) speak to their clubs and the players representatives (allegedly) put an offer forward and ......err nothing... It's a PR stunt everyday of the week.

I love it, even if there's only a very slim chance even the thought that people like Shaqiri/Bojan etc could play for our club is still ridiculous to me. I'm very used to spending a lot more time justifying transfers in my head, a la "i'm sure sidwell will probably be a very solid signing for us, and on a free"

When you see teams like Wolfsburg refusing him (if true) then it's difficult to see one of the European Giants coming in for him. I think we'll still be an attractive proposition for him at the end of the window, if he's still not made his mind up by then. I don't think the queue for him is as big as people think and i definitely think the Atletico rumours are bullshit.

Seems to me if he had wanted to come here it would have happened Look at the other teams he is trying to go to, all are facing the third party issue. That is bigger for us as we would have had to have Kono buy him out. There were numerous reports that he had agreed to sign for us but never put pen to paper... It might not be the only reason but it would be stupid to discount it as a significant factor

I really like Hughes but I think Tony Scholes is absolutely wank at finishing deals. Other teams can do it relatively quick, but Scholes just doesn't seem to know how to attract the next level player. I have no fucking clue what Cartwright does, but he brought in Butland( not sure who else) apparently, he seems a bit clueless aswell. Just hope that MH can seal the deal, the others clowns can't!!

Do they go into hibernation during the summer or summat ? Not that it matters as their questioning techniques are nil and void for the most part anyway. A pretty poor show compared to other local radio station sports departments who give regular updates . I've given up with them altogether !

I have no fucking clue what Cartwright does, but he brought in Butland( not sure who else) apparently, he seems a bit clueless aswell. Just hope that MH can seal the deal, the others clowns can't!! Hughes will give the club a brief on what he wants (position/age/experience etc) Cartwright and co and hopefully use their contacts to provide a list of players meeting that brief (including willingness to move, transfer fees if applicable, wages required and any other caveats) Hughes will scan the list and tell the board whose transfer(s) he would like the club to negotiate. Scholes will then have authority to negotiate fee with club; followed by negotiations with player (club's ambitions, terms, contract details (length, guarantees, etc etc) Now I have NO idea how much of the above actually applies but all of them Hughes, Cartwright and Scholes, can only work within the brief with which they have been authorised (maybe a few latitudes with some parts) so even if the other club agree to sell and even if they agree the fee, there are a myriad of other minutiae that can affect talks. Of course, you could go for lesser players who will not have so many options and may readily agree to sign but that's up to you........... IMHO

Interest mumf , hope he has good luck with that , once a club has excepted an offer its finished , he's not in their plans whether he likes it or not , players that come out and say they want to "fight for their place" once an offer had been accepted are very rarely still at the club in the coming months ! Not saying he will end up at stoke but don't think he will be with inter either !
