I'm finding it difficult to know when I am reading the truth and when I am reading some journalists version of the truth. If that last link is the truth, hopefully someone at the club will confirm it soon.

Well, there you have it folks... Hackett: Done deal / Yes SLP: To be decided by Wednesday (actually club wanted decision by Monday but I'm giving a couple of days extra for the announcement) GF: No deal I have it on good authority he would rather drag his nuts through broken glass than sign for us. but we are offer a lot money and the other deals might not materialise and he isn't wanted at Inter so

I have asked two Italian journo's and they are adamant Shaqiri is still undecided. Articles saying he has rejected us guesswork at this stage.

He obviously doesn't . He's using the situation to his advantage .

He isn't going to stay at a club actively trying to sell him. Players generally don't.
He needs to take this stance to put him in the strongest bargaining position to try to get a pay off from Inter and a better deal from his new club.
That doesn't mean he's coming to Stoke but it's very rare a player's club publicly accepts an offer then he doesn't move somewhere.

As I said above, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to get to exactly what the truth is. I'm sure Shaqiri really does want to stay at Milan - but, if Mancini is serious, it could turn out to be a very poor move for Shaqiri. Yes, he can sit on a contract if he so wishes, but if he doesn't get games he isn't going to get a CL club offering him a good contract in a year or so when he will be the forgotten man. Strange as it may seem, we may offer Shaqiri the best option of a) a good salary for the next 12 months and b) a guaranteed route back to a CL club - providing, of course, that his performances warrant it. When I hear it from either Milan or Stoke, I'll believe he is staying put.

Stoke transfer report: Xherdan Shaqiri does NOT want to leave Inter MilanStoke City target Xherdan Shaqiri has revealed he wants to stay and fight for his place at Inter Milan. Mark Hughes' Potters had a £12m bid accepted for the Swiss midfielder last week but the player could not agree terms with the Premier League side. And now the 23-year-old has poured cold water on any hope of rekindling that deal and insists his future remains at the San Siro. Shaqiri, who joined Inter from Bayern Munich in January, has struggled to hit the heights for Roberto Mancini's men so far but is determined to prove his worth in a Nerazzurri shirt. According to FcInterNews, the former Basel star has confirmed he turned down the Potters to see out the remaining four years on his contract with the Serie A giants.

This 'rejected the move to Stoke' line has been showing up in articles since pretty much news of the bid. 'Rejection' is a bit of a grey area unless he's told us decisively to piss off.
Who knows if it's true?
We certainly don't know for sure it isn't

If reports are true that he isnt coming and REALLY REALLY doesnt want to, its quite depressing that we're seen in that light. The article in the Liverpool Echo the other day seemed to be quite sarcastic when talking about the choice of joined us or Everton and suggested that it was no brainer...that will be the everton who we did the double over and finished higher than in the league...managed by the bloke who is doing a damn fine job at turning them into Wigan...part of me envies the American Football teams and Baseball teams when they trade players...no ifs or buts, simply told "youre going there and thats that"...the current system just keeps the leagues stagnant with the elite at the top and the middle of the road teams having to piss in the wind to try and get anywhere near them..

Why is it so hard for people to understand that this is a massive decision for the player?
If you were a player of good pedigree playing for one of the biggest names in world football and the option was to move to a foreign country to play for an unfashionable mid table side, how many of you would 'jump at the chance'? For example would we expect a player like Shaqiri at one of England's top clubs to join someone like Sassuolo in Italy?
Anyone who thought this would be over in a few days is kidding themselves and from my point of view, the fact it's still going is a good thing. If he was going to make a decision in the first couple of days after the bid, there is only one outcome, he'd have rejected us. So the fact hat we still have a shot is a good thing.
He may well end up elsewhere or even staying at Inter but ive seen nothing concrete to say he has either rejected is already or plans to do so imminently.
Those of you saying he doesn't want to come, well that's not rocket science is it? Why would he want too? If he eventually feels he can use us as a platform to move back to a top club, as soon as he can, then that's the only outcome we can hope for. If any of you expect him to come running over to sign at the first mention of Stoke City have got their blinkers stuck on.

Do we believe he never wanted to come here and is refusing to leave his club OR he entered negotiations with SCFC but could not agree terms?

Theres allways Andros Townsend for 15 M. £15m Townsend/Irons link Posted by Hugh5outhon1895 on July 7, 2015 in News, Whispers Andros-TownsendAndros Townsend is a regular arrival in the West Ham silly season transfer news. He is again raised as a possible arrival in some morning newspapers although the stories look like a near repeat of those we were seeing in October 2014. Back then he was seen as a replacement for Matt Jarvis who – it was claimed – is edging towards the exit door . In fact he wasn”t THEN and he isn’t NOW as ClaretandHugh reported yesterday.

The talksport story seems to be based on this.Atletico Madrid and Stoke City have come forward in recent days, with the 'Inter for Xherdan Shaqiri. Offers heavy, one of which, that of the British team of less than 17 million euro, has been accepted by the Nerazzurri, but rejected by the player. But as FcInterNews.it collected by the will of the former Bayern Monaco it is just to stay in Milan.
The player of Kosovar origin is convinced by the new Inter project, considered winning former Bayern and Basel, and who is convinced of being able to play his chances. In short, if the Nerazzurri intends to dispose Shaqiri, you will not find fertile ground in the Swiss elf, regardless of the type of offer received.

He won't be staying at Inter, Mancini has very nicely said that there's no space, they've been very active in the window and they accepted our offer with zero fuss, he may not be coming to Stoke but he won't be playing for Inter
On a proud Stokie note, he won't be doing much better than us, failed at Bayern, rejected Liverpool, joined Inter and failed there, 6 months later we have a bid very publicly accepted and as of yet no hijacking, no nothing, no Liverpool reigniting interest, bugger all
Saying he failed might be a tad harsh because he wasn't given much of a chance at either, we all know he's a top top top footballer but he has to show it, he won't be showing it on the bench (at best) at Inter, he needs guaranteed game time and we can offer him that
I'm not having any of this "we're not appealing, why would he want to come" bollocks, we did wonders for Arnie and did what European giants failed to do for Bojan, if Shaqiri wants a stage to prove that he can do it then Stoke is the perfect place, not to mention the millions we're willing to throw at him to ice the cake

People really are deluded if they think Shaqiri should be jumping at the chance of joining us. Agreed! Any top player with a good rep would be plain stupid to commit to us this early in the window. People will point to Bojan but not every player is like him and not every club as good to their "sons" as Barcelona are. Bojan had lost his way and needed a new challenge, he knew of Hughes's long term admiration of him and obviously had spoken to Muni to get a good feel of the place. That was a one off type of deal, to get someone like Shaq or Kono across the line is nigh on impossible for clubs like us. It can be done but it's highly improbable.

Does Italy have the same 25 man squad limit like the Prem.?
If so and Mancini doesn't want him in the official registered squad as he has enough players, Shaqiri is going to have a hard job "proving himself".

I think what we are quite clearly seeing is players liking the look of the money they can get from us and other prem clubs but being put off by our status as unfashionable. We are capable of out muscling some of Europes top clubs which seems to be throwing some players; they clearly want the money and the status of being with a top club. Just shows how the Sky money is starting to have a perverse effect on the transfer market. How many players will want to play Champions league but earn half than what they could for the unfashionable teams in the Prem. A test of conscience.

Craig Bellamy has revealed he has not spoken to Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini for 18 months - and blames the Italian's man-management style for the breakdown in communication. The 31-year-old striker - expected to be left behind when City's first-team squad fly to Los Angeles for pre-season training today - claims his career prospects at Eastlands stalled within days of Mancini being installed as successor to Mark Hughes in December 2009. He claimed: "At present I expect to go back there and stay the whole year. And if Mancini is still there I'll probably do very little. Obviously I won't be involved with him and the first team. "It was tough (when Hughes left) - it was like losing someone. It was probably as bad as losing a family member in some ways. I even struggled to eat for a few days. "It was a totally different structure which affected me completely. Mancini told me to stay with the team all the time. We had longer training sessions, but with no intensity whatsoever. "He seemed to know my knee better than I knew it myself. He tried to explain why I had problems with it and what I should do about it. When I told him my knee was hurting, he tried to tell me it wasn't. "Mancini wanted me to come in another day and do some work - but I told him I'd finished my work that day, that I was keeping to my own schedule. "That was when he started about my programme, that I couldn't follow my own schedule while he was the manager - and that I had to do what he was telling me. "He said 'if you don't you can go back home now. And don't come in again'. I replied 'okay, no problem, I'm going home then'. That was a week after he'd arrived - and then he never spoke to me again."
