Wolly wasn't going out of contract, we had to buy him. Well.....we didn't "have" to buy him.....but I know what you mean. I kind of hope we did!

The text quoted is the newspaper version of what someones representative is alleged to have said. Assuming it is word for word perfect and the translation is exact, it doesn't say they haven't received an offer it says they haven't received a "concrete" offer whatever that is. In a negotiation it could be considered that a "concrete" offer is one that is at least broadly acceptable to both parties. It means they want 850m3 of lean mix per week instead of money. Obviously thinking ahead to after retirement from footy and building foundations for the future...

What I think is becoming clear is that we are nowhere near signing either of them.

I do like the way we won't allow ourselves to get bullied by agents. Just a shame other clubs don't do the same.

Nixon is going to be made to look like a right idiot It certainly appears he's jumped the gun. Not for the first time either. That's not to say he won't sign but it's not quite as he was saying by the looks of it.

Mark Hughes want upgrades A listed players In.why wait around keep looking . This notion of doing all our business early in the window is a fine theory. Unfortunately, unless you are one of the top few clubs, players will wait as long as they can to see if a better offer turns up. That is why so much business is done on the last day of the window. The players have most of the power in this system.

Looks like a nothing story to me, apart from Coates' comments about Tommy and Wilko, any one of us could have written it, based on reading this mb.

Seems to be banging the same drum, I think what he's saying is true but he hasn't a clue if any other clubs are in for him. It's not as simple as jumping on a plane. Why would he do that so early in the window? This will drag on for weeks.

Why would he do that so early in the window? This will drag on for weeks. Yeah, I think the outline of Nixon's story is probably true - we're obviously massively in for him and even John Percy confirmed he'd met Cartwright last week. And I can even buy the medical stuff. But it is harder to buy that he's agreed to come and we're just waiting on him getting on a plane to Manchester. I'd be surprised if he wasn't keeping his options open. Alan Nixon @reluctantnickohi alan any more movement on the two possible stoke signings? cheersOnly know of Konoplyanka of those two. is it getting closer cheers for the replyGet on a plane. Sign the contract. Visa. Permit no problem. Rest done. nothing in this agent Alan?No idea what he's on about. Stoke were over last week, did all they had to ... player due over to sign. a ny more news on Konoplyanka for Stoke? All of those involved seem relaxed. Most of work done in advance anyway. Need him on a plane now.

Surely he can sign a contract from Ukraine? He's doesn't need to come all the way here especially when his medical is already done.

linkThe future of Konoplyanka will be determined next week The leader of the Dnepropetrovsk team Yevgen Konoplyanka can pursue a career in his current club. As it has became known to Football.ua, a few days later the father of Konoplyanka will hold talks with the owner of the Dnieper Igor Kolomoisky about the future of the Ukrainian national team winger.
According to our information, the parties will meet on Tuesday or Wednesday. The subject of the call options will be a new contract with the player's club Dnipro.
Perhaps the Dnipro offer Konoplyanka two options - a long-term contract with a large sum of compensation and a high salary. Or a one-year deal with a low klausuloy, but a very high salary. Thus, the club can receive for its leader a certain amount in the event of a transfer.
Recall that the contract with the Dnieper is completed this summer and he can reach the free-agent market.
Interest shown in the Ukrainian winger clubs from Italy (Roma, Inter), as well as a number of clubs from England (Tottenham, Liverpool, Stoke City).

Eyewitness's of ours saw a player on May 18th that matches Affeley at CW in a silver X5, pics on our site. Konoplyanka is 100% a target and talks have taken place and our contacts have confirmed this. Whether Alan Nixons reports that a deal has been agreed but no confirmation till July goes is something I cannot confirm. But defo 100% both Kono and affeley are targets and both have had talks with the club over a move

Seems both are genuine targets, but won't be taken to the cleaners by agents as Scholes still holds the abacus on how much we spend. Momo may have his say in Tony but we are in a better place than most premier league clubs and still competitive.

I have no problem with Scholes and it's entirely sensible to have a tight control over financial matters. It hasn't exactly hindered us too much so far. I guess my question was more along the lines of do you have any idea of if the players/agents will likely be using us to entice offers from bigger clubs rather than seeking improved terms from ourselves? I'm guessing we'll set a certain degree of deadlines with contract offers?

Been reported that we're now looking elsewhere due to wage demands. 100k a week? Get Moses and Delofeu in and we're sorted with wingers! We also have Arnie and Odemwingie to play there. I see Walters as a striker and with Diouf, Crouch and Odemwingie (could play up front as well) we should be fine there too! I think Diouf will only get better and better for us and I also hope to see Odemwingie back to his best again!

I hope PO can get back to his former self but it's not a given and neither is Arnie's form if his head goes down. It's been mentioned that wages are maybe an issue in the Afellay deal too. Seems that we've hit something of a glass ceiling. Can Hughes find another Bojan?
