If we got Odem back before the end of the season, who knows? 8th and even 7th might be a real possibility. He has been out for 6-7 months so is not going to be able to comeback immediately the same player as he was last season. He will likely need 2-3 months after he is back playing before he can reach any sort of level he was at before so I wouldn't expect anything this season. I think the fact he will be back this year will help him for next season providing he gets a contract. Why not? No, he won't be fit, he won't be anywhere near he was, but his ability on the ball won't have been lost. He will still hopefully have the technique to change a game. A 50% Odemwingie is still a very useful asset!

Dare to fucking dream what this season could have been. Simply amazing what we've accomplished with all roadblocks we have been forced to endure. Honestly feel, with a fit and healthy squad next season, it could be truly magical. Spot on a couple of decent additions and keeping hold of our best players could take us top 8 if we have an injury free season. Keeping Hughes is key too. We're getting to a stage now where we're strong in nearly every department and have very little deadwood remaining. It would be lovely if we could start next season with a front 4 of Odom...............Bojan.......,,,,,,,,Moses .........................Diouf.......................... With all due respect, this scenario has me dreaming of finishing higher than top eight next season. We're top 8 now, brother. I'm thinking top 6, minimum. As I've said before, let's go hang out in the high rent district. Let's go breathe in that rarified air. See how the other half lives. Can you imagine? Those fuckers wouldn't know what to make of us.

Seen an article today where Bowen States that Odemwinge could be back before end of the season, something to look forward to, when he and Bojan are both fit

A 50% Odemwingie is still a very useful asset! His whole game will be affected by the injury as he will not have kicked a ball in 7 months. He needs fans to be patient and not expect him to be anywhere near his previous level either physically or technically for 2-3 months. Next season after a full pre-season hopefully he will be back to his best. Fans who expect him back to a good level this year are the same ones who will criticise him after 2 games. A fit Odemwingie is quality but he needs patience to allow him to return to his best the same as Bojan will.

Good news, I hope he is right. Not that I expect him to pull up any trees if he does come back before the season ends, but the mere fact that he gets a few minutes game time this season will give him an incentive to work on his form and fitness throughout the summer to come back firing on all cylinders for the start of next season.

Personally Odem would be upfront for me with a new winger. I think if Hughes gets the players in he wants to get in, Wingie will become more of a squad player next season - not least because he can play in most/all of the front 4 positions. He'll start some games and others he'll be on the bench as an impact sub. To be honest, I think that would have happened even if he hadn't had the injury - plenty of players do go one beyond his age but they don't play as often as they did when they were younger. Scholes and Giggs were used very carefully by Fergie in their later years. I don't think Wingie will mind that - he'd probably rather play 20 quality games a season at the top level than be a regular starter in the ultra marathon that is the Championship.

MH: Prior to him having a slight set-back when the surgeon wanted to look at his knee again and see why he was getting a reaction. A small procedure has been done and it's affected the knee in a positive way. If you asked me four or five weeks ago I wouldn't have thought he would have a chance to play this season but now I think there really is a chance.

I've only just read this. He reckons he could play again before the end of the season. If it's old news, sorry.
