Maybe its because I was watching on a stream and had the benefit of replays, but the ref didn't do a whole lot wrong imo, his decisions seemed to even out over the course of the game. Also the linesmen got everything spot on as far as I coUld tell. Have to disagree, all 3 officials were dire, there was an incident in the second half where the ball on the dug out side was at least a foot out when Moses had it.

Well, over to MOTD. They replayed and replayed the Matic incident.
Bet they bottle it

Swarbrick was far to familiar with their players for me and you could tell that this was the 4th away game he reffed them this season.

Let's get one thing straight. Trevor Francis does not like Stoke. He is one C! Unfortunately I had to listen to his commentary but slightly disagree with your assessment as a C is useful and he isn't. I have never heard anyone so blatantly anti Stoke.

Andy Griffin said that the tackle was a very nasty one and intended, ex pros know what is happening and what the intent is and Figueroa knew exactly what he was doing. I wonder if a big thing will be made of it tonight on MOTD and trial by TV will be for something that has happened to dirty little Stoke for a change, on second thoughts maybe not, fuck all will be done the tackle won't be shown and Hughes interview will be edited out so there's not mention of it whatsoever. Gouranga.

The tacle on peters was very cynical and very nasty , left his boot in for peters to kick bang in front of the Lino , he didn't even flag

Also the linesmen got everything spot on as far as I coUld tell. The ref and the lineman on the dugout side were a bloody disgrace. The lineman may as well not been there. He did not have a clue and how the Hull player got away with the foul on Ireland right in front of the linesman is a complete joke. Those clowns should be nowhere near a football pitch. Two soft yellow cards for a Stoke players and nothing for a foul that has probably put Ireland out of the game for a couple of weeks. Cheers GB

Mark Hughes fumes as Stoke's Stephen Ireland sidelined
"We have lost Stephen for any number of weeks. He is in a bad way. "He has a slice on his calf and needed 12 or 15 stitches. He has come in at half-time, rolled his sock down, and everyone was taken aback by the severity of the gash," he added.

I've said it time and time again that the FA will only get their act together when a player sues them for neglect.
The game can't continue by employing such useless tossers to referee.

That linesman in front of us near the dugout is a disgrace. He's clueless every time he comes to the Brit. Hughes absolutely slaughtered him. Special mention to the referee, aided expertly by McShane. Had a word with Swarbrick after the Moses nothing challenge and subsequently carded Victor. Joke. That useless fucker never made a decision all game. He didn't know which way to flag for throw ins. Twat.

So Mourinho provokes a national debate . All we get is Shearer pulling a face and saying "It's a nasty one".

I was expecting it to be worse tbh after the descriptions.
It's like Barnes', I didn't think that was a red.

I definitely called that wrong, clearly intentional. Having said that if you dish it out, you have to be prepared to take a bit back, both nasty challenges.

MOTD coverage was pretty fair to be honest. It was a very bad tackle on Ireland but they made clear you reap what you sow. Ireland's tackle on Meyler was pretty awful too.

I really hope he's not out for a while as I really rate him. Obviously had stitches but I'm a little unclear as to how you need to treat the injury as he managed to play on till HT. Surely he can't be out for the rest of the season.

My guess (and that is all it is a guess) is that he will be out for two or three games at the most. I suspect Hughes may have "laid it on a bit" last night because a) he was angry and b) he wants the FA panel to review the incident.Having seen the photograph below I take all of the above statement back. I'm gobsmacked Ireland managed to play on after the tackle. Respect!
