I'm loath to tempt fate but we are at a position of strength at the moment, we are as solid a Prem team as possible outside the top 6, we are a stable, solid well run club but we are stagnating and need to expand to move on. Build the new stands and we will fill it I have no doubt, we are on the brink of something special, in recent years we have played at things and hesitated go for it Stoke our stock is at it's highest we are a cracking club.

Things is they won't sell another 1500 ST's as they are to dotted about so if a family want to buy say 4 seats together its not that easy. Fill the corner in and hey presto plenty of seats in blocks together. Me and my old man are together but my cousin is two rows further forward and my best mate is just above disabled section in the boothen as we couldn't get four together when they started coming again. This is exactly the issue that is preventing the club from selling more tickets. Everyone on this board can recognise that, so for Mr Scholes to say that they will only consider filling in the corner if they sell an extra 1500 STs is crazy. He must know what seats are currently available and how difficult it is to get seats together. Unfortunately, his statement says to me that the club have no immediate interest in filling in the corner. Cheers GB

Scholes has confirmed that we sold 20,600 season tickets for this season, so we need to get that up to over 22,000 to expand. Fair enough, but as one if two others have said, are there even 22,000 seats to sell as season tickets as it currently stands?
Capacity is 27,600. Take away visiting supporters section (2,800), corporate and officials seating in block 4 and 13 (1,500) and the 5% that I believe we have to hold back for non season tickets and that leaves us with 21,900 seats left for purchase.
In other words, it's not happening.

I am fully in favour of us expanding capacity, but I can't believe that the club haven't been warned that to get their next safety certificate, they either sort out the traffic chaos after the game or they REDUCE the ground capacity.
Any major incident at the end of a game that needs the emergency services is going to turn into a disaster. Just like we all knew that fences at football grounds were an accident waiting to happen then so is the traffic chaos that starts 10 mins before the final whistle.
The potential solutions are pretty simple. Other clubs manage it. How about a one way system around the Health/Gym place. What about a time for exit from any car park that is clearly advertised beforehand eg South Car Park 15m after final whistle, Trent car park 30m, private car parks, rugby club 45m, etc. Subway for pedestrians beneath the roundabout by the Health/Gym place. Properly managed 2 lane flow of traffic after the game on all roads out. Traffic leaving directly for A50 West has to use left hand lane and has to turn left at incinerator roundabout. Traffic going East A50 has total access to turn right at traffic lights as slip road for other road users is closed.
Once we have addressed these things, I would extend the Boothen backwards to match the main stand, build up that corner, rebuild the dressing rooms and tunnel there and ensure the concourses are spacious. I would also put a statue of Mama behind that goal celebrating his winner vs Villa.

Out of interest how hard was/is it to get 2 or more season tickets together for a new season ticket holder?

With the TV deal making the gate receipts even less important, I think the club should take the long term view, fill in a corner each season.give tickets away, if needs be, to schools, unemployed etc., and grow the attendances slowly.Even if people get in for free they will spend money, and they can use it to foster the next generation of supporters and maybe in towns on the periphery,e.g. Stafford, Congleton and Crewe, maybe Shrewsbury.

Seriously, how many people are going to get a ST to be sat on their own for a year? I honestly think if we had a big section of extra seats that we'd fill it because people would go down with their friends or family.
Stop dithering Scholes, get it fucking don. The ground is and always been an unfinished mess.

For the Brit itself, swap the away and family stands, then fill in the scoreboard corner using it for either Stoke or away fans depending on the allocation, like the middle of the south stand is used now. The couple of blocks in the south stand next to the corner could still be used by away fans during cup games. I'd also install a better form of segregation, a bit like they use at Arsenal, instead of using that netting stuff which takes up half a block of seats.
As for the traffic situation, build a bridge over the railway line so you have a road linking the stadium roundabout with the one next to Sainsbury's. That way, traffic heading south can avoid the A50 completely. This idea will cost a fair bit but it may also benefit the businesses on both sides of the railway, so the government could get involved.

I think I read recently gate receipts represent just 8% of out total revenue

I would put away fans in there . Get them away from the tunnel give that whole end to Stoke fans I doubt they would put the away fans next to the family area. Put the family stand next to the tunnel then, away fans in the new corner, then the Sentinel Stand has the extra seating!

What they said they were planning to do when they published the plans for the corner was to move the family area sideways so it included the new corner thus freeing up space nearer the centre of the Novus stand for normal ticket sales. I do agree that the away fans should not be near the tunnel but it doesn't look as if that corner is going to part of the plan to move them. Maybe the Main Stand/Boothen corner when it is developed (in 2025?!!! ) will include new changing rooms and the tunnel. That's just my idea though, I doubt the club are planning to do that.
