Seemed a different team after half time yesterday, definitely more attacking can see this being a bloody hard game to be honest. If Sherwood (No matter what the opinions of the guy are) can bring Benteke back to his best like he did to Adebayor at the end of last season then we could be in for a shit time if the defence shows it's vulnerabilities like it did on Saturday!
Consider me worried to be honest. I think my side would be: Bego; Bardsley, Shawcross, Muniesa, Pieters; Moses, Sidwell, Nzonzi, Arnie; Diouf Walters

Fair point regarding Muni, guess it will be Wolly then just hope his confidence levels haven't dropped too much after the last two games. Getting a lot of unfair grief on here for me.

Muniesa has a pulled hamstring so at least 3 weeks out
Hopefully Walters can play
Ryan 50:50
Both teams appear to vulnerable to fast breaks against them.
I'd settle for a score draw right now

For all we know the stoke players could be more up for this game after being embarrased at the weekend. Put it this way if we were Villa I wouldn't fancy playing us after this weekend.

We can expect a fired up team with all its players giving it everything they have to impress the new manager. This game is suddenly a much more daunting one than its been for a few years now,and throw in the fact that we have more players out injured than I've ever known and I can't see us winning to be honest. I'd take a point right now if offered.

I think the reverse could be true too if you take a look at our injury list and a worse case scenario of no Shawcross, no Walters and no Pieters, not to mention no Muniesa. It really could be bloody….and I'll be there to witness it.

Muni wouldn't be anywhere near the starting 11 for me. Was he really that bad on Saturday? He gifted a chance to getstede but apart from that, he looked to be winning the battle. All the problems came down Cameron/wolschied channel rather than bardsley/muniesa side.

It's surprising to me that no one has challenged my choice of Diouf & Walters ahead of Crouch! Thought I would get some stick for that

Without even thinking about it, I can remember one brilliant full blooded header that he won, shortly after he gifted the chance to Getstede, which would have seen them through on goal had he lost it. I'm not saying he played well by any stretch but I was just wondering if he was as bad as some seem to be suggesting. I like Muniesa and I think he is a good centre half when deployed next to Ryan but for me, at the moment, he doesn't have the discipline to be a centre half for us. He tries to do too much when his sole objective should be to defend the width of the penalty box. I remain convinced that long term, midfield is his position. He has every single attribute going to be superb in that role.

Thought I would get some stick for that I wouldn't entertain starting with Crouch away from the Britannia Stadium. Hopefully Walters will be back, fit and ready to lead the forward line from a central position.

I'm more worried about what kind of Stoke we can expect. After the last two performances I can understand that, but I still think we will beat Villa. 2 nil to the mighty, mighty potters.

All the problems came down Cameron/wolschied channel rather than bardsley/muniesa side. The goal where he pulled his hamstring,it was Muniesas clearing header that went straight to a Blackburn player who then put King through.Muniesa was subsequently out of position and in trying to make amends for his mistake and chase back he pulled his hamstring. Muniesa was as bad as anyone on the pitch.....we had 3 defenders each putting in their worst performance of the season

Well the players will be keen to impress the new manager and he's told them to play with "less fear"
We need to be disciplined

At this point, i would be well happy with a draw to steady the good ship. Preferably a nil nil so our defence can get some of their confidence back. Villa will be well fired up for this one. New manager, desperate for the points, a chance to do a double and a relative local derby. However our lads will want to avoid the double over them, be determined to put Saturday to bed and stick it to the media once again.
Now you watch it be a four goal draw!!

I'll be chuffed if we get anything out of this game. I can't remember the last time we went into a fixture having conceded 8 from our previous 2 games. We are wobbling like a jelly right now.

Villa will be a whole new animal now, typically, in time for the Stoke game.
If we let them control the game we could get soundly beaten. We really need bodies back in the side.

we can expect Villa to come out all fired up until we score then they will start to fall apart.
Sparky will have read the riot act to our team and hopefully we will have a few back from injury. Not a must win game but one to restore confidence.
