If a steward hit me or someone I know then I'd kick off as well. Moronic behavior if you got involved without any of these reasons though

Have to say, think this has been blown out of all proportions, from what I saw a Stewart needs a sacking for being a dick, and that's it. He deserved a twatting, if he did not then he if due one , people on here at times do my head in. How old are people on here. Was at the golden cup from 11.30 onwards and made a mention to the two coppers delboy and crouchy at what a fantastic job they had done. Told them we get treated like shit from other old bill so they get a reaction. These two lads were top notch.just with a mention.

Whichever way it happened the police will be delighted with it. I would even suggest it was put to the stewards to be confrontational. The bad pubilicty against the police and the blackburn advisers even made a slot on Gillette soccer Saturday with the panel saying it was a ridiculous decision not to give more tickets in an empty stadium. Imagine how they would have looked if there had been no trouble at all? Well played out police and stewards. Pure fantasy

Well played out the Stokies who behaved just as the police suspected. Recent events at Leicester, or possibly after the palarse game won't have helped. Our last few trips to Manchester(that said most of our trips to manchester) ended in trouble. Last night trouble around the stations. I witnessed some over zealous policing to, one Stokie pushed to the ground, and I've offered to be a witness. In the whole though I saw much more anti social behaviour from our chavs. I grew up watching Stoke away in the 80's and 90's, it was a bit of a different era. If you got stuck in and the police waded into you, it was a fair cop. Today the chavs seem to want to showboat and threaten £8 stewards, but at the first sign of getting stick want to moan. Walking up the road singing we are Stoke to kids and families is small time. Throwing a flare over a group of mixed supporters is possibly, Rock Haaard!! At every level it's an embarrassment!

I was also at the Golden Cup at 13:00 had a laugh and joke with a very amiable police sergeant there, who said they were trying to keep things low key and would have friendly words in ears if things started to get out of hand in order to nip things in the bud. Great attitude and I am led to believe far different from Greater Manchester Police, shame therefore that things kicked off in the ground so badly.

I was in row 20 with my young son in the corner where the trouble started. Some facts from that part of the ground. Throughout the match the aisles were full of "fans" who decided not to take their seats, why? Several "fans" around us were counting down to the 30 minute mark in the first half. Why? I know the answer to this one. The bars in the concourse re-opened then. And not one or two drifted down but many of the "fans" left for the concourse. AFTER 30 MINUTES???? Don't forget that there were an additional 8 minutes making 23 minutes of the first half they missed.WHY??? Add to these 23 minutes the half time break of 15 minutes that makes 48 minutes of drinking time. That's if they all returned at the start of the second half. Some of those I saw returning were very clearly glazing over. As I said I was in row 20. Many accuse the stewards of starting the trouble. NOT TRUE where I was as scuffles and arguments and full blown fight broke out in rows 21, 22 and 23. NO WHERE NEAR THE STEWARDS.
THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT FANS. THEY DISGRACE STOKE CITY FOOTBALL CLUB and put of decent supporters from ever going to away matches again. We have tickets for the Villa game, but my son is still so upset from what he saw yesterday I'm not sure we'll bother. How sad is that.

As a sensible ,intelligent and honest spectator i have never been involved violently or even gesticulated graphically. I do feel a bit safer when the opposite spectator than myself the hard man up for a graphic gesticulate is there to help protect me and my friend. Hey not everyones the same if there was just a crowd of my class about then police, stewards and the catering staff would be out of work

If they don't like somebody doing something in the ground they should film them & then IF neccassary show the video evidence to the scum in black & white who can nab them after the game with evidence to back up the stewards claims. Chances are the stewards handled it wrong and it escalated.
My bet is the lads they tried to chuck out in the first place were not doing anything that doesn't happen up & down the country every week. Been there done it myself these stewards are cun7s. end of.

Of course there might of been a bit of colourful language going on and some dick head out of the stoke end who never goes to games decides to take his kids and he doesn't like the language so he complains. That's exactly what happened to me. Fucking scum, if you don't like the football atmosphere don't go, simple.

They should have stayed down in the concourse drinking all match like me and my mate did. It was warm down there,we didn't see any of the match so we didn't get wound up and the police and stewards down there were very friendly.

Tin Hat at the ready.
No matter whether we believe that the Police instructed the stewards to be 'proactive' in the winding up of fans or not the Police will feel fully justified in denying any additional tickets because of the loutish irresponsible behaviour of people who follow our football. I am not sure what makes people pay good money for match tickets transport and food etc to then go and get bladderd before or during the game to the point at which they believe they can take on the world no matter whether any disagreement should involve them or not. Why on earth do people feel they should punch, wrestle, fight with their own supporters? Ok the guy next to you has a different opinion than you it's allowed this is not a communist state where free thinking is not banned. If they want to get bladderd, act hard, then do it up Hanley on a Friday night when a lot of people around will at least be expecting idiots not able to show any restraint not a football match when men women, children wanting to enjoy supporting our team. They should not have to be left in tears fearing for their safety from others who believe it is acceptable behaviour to be involved in anything and everything. By all means enjoy a drink at the game but show some restraint, self discipline but please don't follow our football team if that's not possible I and many others do not want to be associated with you and I certainly do not class you as supporter. Supporters would not treat fellow human beings in such a disgusting way. Flares have absolutely no place at a football match in the hands of lunatics that think it's acceptable to indiscriminately throw them. No doubt the'scum, filth, haters we are stoke we do what we want brigade will disagree' we'll all I hope is that they don't continue to follow our team or that I D cards will make us all feel safe to travel to support our team.

It was a bit of pushing and shoving. Let's have a bit of perspective here. Some people posting about these events, foaming at the mouth like rabid Daily Mail reporters do not help the situation. Sensationalising these incidents does not help.

I was in that corner just a few rows up from the trouble. Looked like handbags mostly, my only worry was for the woman who had collapsed. Each person will have a different view on events but mostly it was a non story in my view.

With regard to the actual Subject of this thread.
"And now you know why the police refused the extra tickets"
Had there been say another 2000 Stoke fans in the Upper Tier would it have made any substantive difference to the pushing and shoving that took place with the stewards at the front. I wasn't there so I don't know but I would hazard a guess that it would not?
