In terns of the CF spot, he certainly hasn't "made it his own" so far and, as we regularly see, he therefore gets pushed around across the front, despite LMH agreeing one post match presser that his best position was up top in the middle, no question.
Right now (injuries aside) I'd play SJW there any day of the week, which tells you something.
All that said, a sure fire, top notch CF is going to cost a lot of B365 pocket money and assumes we can land one, even if we chase them round all July & August like Benny Hill after some totty.

I don't dislike him and there's aspects of his game I like but at his age do things like your touch really improve? Do you see him getting radically better? You don't score 1 in 2 in the Bundesliga by chance is all I can say! Something to his game isn't there at the moment that's for certain but I think it's a confidence thing as much as anything Why do you say that though. What do you base it on. Did you see him week in week out. Do you watch the German league week in week out?

I watch the German league fairly frequently thanks to BT Sport and it's not miles away from the prem in terms of physicality or quality... They're the most similar of the top leagues if anything 1 in 2 in that league is no mean feat.

Swansea persuaded Bony to join, Southampton likewise with Pelle, Norwich with Van Wolfswinkel.....okay, maybe the last one was not the best example. I fail to see how a decent young striker in the Dutch or French league, at least one not at a Champions League club, maybe not so much Italy or Germany, would not be interested in signing for a top 10 Premier League club on £50k a week. Surely someone like Luc Castaignos, Cheick Diabaté or Mark Uth would jump at the chance?

Diouf isn't a kiddy, he's 27. And we didn't sign him because he was cheap n' cheerful, we'd been prepared to spend a fair wedge on him the previous January. But we didn't so I'm not sure what your point is? Sent from my C6603 using proboards My point is that "what do you expect from a free transfer" is disingenuous. That isn't why we signed him, because we were scratching around for freebies.

Cameron put a nice one in for him last night (outside of his foot as ever) and Diouf decided to run in the opposite direction when it was clear where it was going. He also made a perfect intelligent run of the shoulder of mangala that Muniesa completely ballsed up in the first half. No player is perfect and it would cost you a fortune to find one that is close to perfection. His movement of the ball is great he is constantly looking to get in behind it's not his fault our midfielders are not intelligent enough to see the space. The problem is Diouf is a player that plays of the shoulder looking to get running space in front of him, the way we play doesn't allow this its normally coming in from Arnie or moses or knock downs from crouch which doesn't allow us to make use of his best attribute which is his pace. Sent from my C6603 using proboards See I think his movement off the ball is really disappointing. He too often makes the wrong decision timing-wise. He's the kind of player who should have brilliant movement, but too often he doesn't.

Surely someone like Luc Castaignos, Cheick Diabaté or Mark Uth would jump at the chance? Not saying we can't attract one J., (& yes, RVW is an abysmal e.g., second only to that lump B'ardiff bought in recent times?) but classically the Hurdy-Gurdy league in particular is notoriously hit & miss wouldn't you agree?
So, given MBD was also a gamble (that currently looks to have not paid off), had 'goals' in him and was from what most would acknowledge to be a far superior league, then, I suspect everyone will be pretty circumspect about such characters.
Also, we are currently waving goodbye to that kind of a wedge for MBD already anyway, so shelling it out all over again for ano 'maybe' might not be the attack plan this summer?
But yes, given that we won't be waving £15 - 20M around plus £50 / 60 / 70K ++ a week for anyone, we logically have to gamble - at least until we grow our own Harry Kane.

He plays on the right much better than he does in the middle which is saying something, he does better there because he doesn't have his back to goal he can just run onto balls instead, so until we get a decent right winger in I'd play him there over Arnautovic.

If we play more through balls or more balls over the top for him, he will score goals. His goals in the Bundesliga prove that.

The biggest problem is his complete unsuitability for the main system that Hughes employees....and his touch.....and his decision making......and his anticipation......and finishing. But apart from that

I sincerely mean this but he's a far worse player than a certain Cameron Jerome and earning a reported 65k a week. Without a doubt he was an absolute joke last night, there's loads of examples throughout his time with us but last night.... First half ball thrown into feet, no pressure, mis controls and pretty sure they broke, scored, disallowed. Complete air shot, second half WTF was that Goes clear on goal and.......falls over. Shocking, shocking player. He was fouled as clear as day.

He's getting some unfair stick at the moment, the lad is very strong and lightning quick. If we can work on his ball control, link up play, 1st touch, finishing, heading, awareness and vision I think we may have a player on our hands!

He gets himself into some fantastic positions but his finishing and striking of a football is terrible.
I think everybody is now well aware of his ball 'control' issues. I noticed it in his first game, first touch like Lukaku!

He was a free transfer Ffs. What do people expect Maradona? If we'd have spent a ridiculous fee whilst breaking our wage structure maybe you'd have an argument. Sent from my C6603 using proboards Free transfer, maybe, but his wages would make your eyes water. He will be at the top of our wage structure, of that I have no doubt (so £45-50k a week). For that I'd really want a striker with a damned sight more quality. He has disappointed me on the whole (save for the Man City wonder goal). While everyone is being churlish....even his finish at Man City was not convincing. Scuffed shot through Hart's legs.

Diouf played in his correct position will be a consistent goal scorer for us. Just needs a little more time to really start gelling. He and Bojan are a great combo.
And Dutch Stokie/Jimmy is a cracking lad so lay off him.
