Everyone claimed he would do well as part of a front two.
Hmmm that turned out well didnt it. Worst looking strike partnership ive seen us have in the prem, did crouch and Diouf complete one pass to each other the whole night?

His body language towards the end of the game was worrying. That and his inability to trap a bag of cement.
Hopefully this will be his 'settling in' season and next season he will be on fire.

Was just starting to settle in front of Bojan but then the African cup of nations messed up the season as it does for African players every other year but you are all quite right couldn't score against the premiership champions fook him off we're doomed

Very harsh thread this. I thought diouf played well and linked the play up well.
Don't suppose his one miskick is clouding peoples judgement though?

As a staunch defender of him all along I'm close to writing him off. He's useful with his pace and work ethic but for a player with his record in Germany he just doesn't seem like a top level striker. His touch isn't there. His confidence isn't recovering. He doesn't anticipate knock downs or rebounds.

Was very unlucky not to get a penalty although if the Aguero one wasn't, the Diouf one probably wasn't.

I had big hopes for this player but have to admit he isn't looking the part so far. However I don't think we play to his strengths - we don't seem able to thread balls through into space for him to run beyond defences (and there were one or two clear opportunities to do that last night) and the others don't seem able to pick his runs, the obvious one being between him and Cameron last night which resulted in quite a lengthy discussion between them. Agree he is looking frustrated - he needs a goal or two !!

Stop start season hampered by injuries, being played out wide and going away to the ACON and you're almost writing him off 7 months into his Stoke career? Seems a bit knee jerk to me.....

He kicked the floor. Diouf's wasn't a penalty either but it was a clear foul, albeit, commited outside the box.

He never starts 2 games on the trot in the same position
He's a centre forward and has through injuries to Odimwingie and Moses has started prodominently on the wings
Cut him some slack eh

He's tried and failed in this country before, I'm afraid he doesn't suit the English game at all.
I'm sure if he goes back to Germany he'll be prolific again.
Shame really as he's a trier and good character.

I haven't seen the penalty incident closely, I only caught the MOTD replay which looked like big Phil had been overly contact'y with him. Funny that though, Aguero never dives... y'know? Never cheats at all.

I don't think there is any 'writing him off' folks. He is contracted to the second half of 2018 Since no one else will match his wages he is here to stay. We bust a gut to get him and somehow the coaching staff are going to have to work out how we tease some meaningful action out of him over the remainder of his tenure. That's how I see it anyway.

The amount of times it was blatently obvious that he needed to be running in the channels and didn't was ridiculous. Should of been another midfielder in there.

We need another striker that's not Crouch or Walters. Diouf can then be useful back up or try to forge a partnership with the new guy. I like Mame but, in common with a few others, don't feel he's had a run in the right system. I'd rather see him in a front two with Walters from here on in.

I refuse to say anything bad about him, he'been shuffled around far too much and been asked to play in unnatural positions out of necessity
When we've played 20 games next season and he's playing in front of Bojan for all 20 i'll judge him

He never starts 2 games on the trot in the same position He's a centre forward and has through injuries to Odimwingie and Moses has started prodominently on the wings Agreed. Besides never starting two games on the trot in the same position, he rarely plays a whole game in the same position. That won't help his confidence. Had Pulis done this he'd have been "hanging him out to dry". As somebody says elsewhere on this thread, he's here on a long contract. The manager and coaching staff wanted him, waited a long time to get him, are paying him top whack, so it's up to them to settle him down into his best position and get the most out of him. Otherwise, Diouf will be the new Palacios.

He's been earmarked to become the next boo boy since day 1. No he hasn't, but he doesn't help himself with the majority of his performances. I had never seen him play until he arrived and I was expecting a "finisher" in view of the goals he had scored in Germany. Sadly, I was wrong.
