it makes sense because he is contracted with us until june 2016, he is not out of contract at the end of this season, so from now until the end of the season we can see if he is still up to standard at the premier league level or not. he is off the wage bill and there will be a loan fee. he is at a club in leicester who are far enough below us to be no threat to us but he might help leicester take points off other teams that are. as hughes is currently playing him only as 5th choice then the risk that we may need him is quite slim and cameron and tex could also cover centre half if needs be. I Know. It makes no sense because we're short at the back as it is and there is no recall option. I also look down the table, I want to help no one down there. And exactly Geoff could, that's enough to make me shit my pants and want to hide under the stair. Awful centre half, worse than Wilson there.

Hughes clearly has faith in his options at centre half with a choice of 4 now. That should be plenty to see us through to the end of the season. Loaning Huth to a Premier League club enables him to get games at the level we are playing at thereby enabling us to find out if Huth is able to recover from his 15 month spell on the sidelines. People keep saying he's off but Hughes said he wanted to get Huthy out on loan at a suitable club so that he could get game time and then return to the fold at Stoke City. Why would people doubt that this is the intention? If he goes to a Premier League club and does well, we get the opportunity to bring him back into the fold at Stoke or at least get some money for him should we decide he isn't what we want anymore. It's win/win I would say and offers us the best chance of seeing Robert Huth in a Stoke City shirt again.

We have a lot of players who can play in central defence like Shawcross, Wolly, Muni, Wilson, Cameron, Pieters and even Wilko! Think it's the right decision to let him rebuild his match fitness for another PL team. That said, if Huth can come back to the level he was before the injury he would be first choice alongside Ryan in my opinion!

Hughes had faith in Wilson, that's a massive mistake and Wolly hasn't filled me with confidence if I'm being honest. But I remain 50/50 on him. And he's broken up the best centre half partnership we've had in his tenure up. It's safe to say when it comes to the centre halves, I aren't fully with the manager. I aren't arsed if I never see Huth in a Stoke shirt again tbh, Shawcross and Muni are the partnership to take us to the next level. But it'd be nice because he is such a good centre half when fit But we need a recall option. With the fitness issues we've had and the options we have, we need it.

Ryan. Wolfie. Muni. Geoff. Wilson.
Looks like Huth is behind these 5 so it's clear he will not play.

Did Huth and Upson play together very often for us? Because Pearson reckons Upson his winning his long fitness battle so maybe we might see them together again?

I hope time will show competition is very limited Do you believe Tex is good enough for the prem? More than convinced now the question is if he can prove it and convince the coaching staff..

Like this pic from the Sentinel from Huthy's time as the child star of late-80s East German soap 'Barfuß ins Bett'

The important thing is to get HUTH fit and ready for next season, standing next to Shawcross, be it with a Premier League team or a Championship side. As long as he comes back fighting fit and chomping at the bit

Enjoyed looking through that, Sentinel do some really good stuff. Reminds you what a huge player he's been in establishing us. Total respect for him - he definitely put it all(and a bit more) on the line every week and there aren't many about who do that!

Kinda makes sense. We've played them twice so no issues there and we're (hopefully) not going to be competing with leicester at the bottom.
We've got plenty of cover at the back and no point in paying his wages to be a benchwarmer.
To be fair he looked fit as a flea but rusty - gametime will do him good.

Gonna miss the big German bruiser if it is to be that he ends up elsewhere at the end of the season.
He's never given less than 100% (and he's often given more when you consider him playing on after some serious knocks to his head!)
A top, top defender who turned into Ian Rush in the opposition 6 yard box with his uncanny centre forwards instinct.
Fantastic player and a real Stoke hero.
Good luck to the Massive German Youth.
