I think it's important to mention that the debt accrued during University is inactive and only begins to be paid back upon reaching £21K a year annual. It's written off after 30 years I think too regardless of income if it hasn't been paid back in the intervening period.

To be fair when they can't organise recycling in the one place they have an MP and above average support how can they be trusted to sort out the rest of the country. Well like i say, i don't know enough about this local issue enough to pass comment in their defence. I could offer a scenario though. Perhaps due to the draconian cuts the Tories have imposed on local councils that if they did decide to spend money on a new recycling scheme to dispose of garden waste then they would have to close down daycare centers for people with learning difficulties and all youth clubs. Harsh decisions to be made in order to bail out the Cities mistakes at the expense of public services. I don't know, it could just be an incompetence, but i'd bet things are not as quite as simplistic as you'd wish to believe. I often find that things tend to be as simplistic as you make them , or want them to be .....whatever political slant you choose to put on them .

One of the bad things I see from the debt that's built up when going through Uni is that students don't seem to have the same money worries. When I was at Uni many years ago I didn't have a car. Couldn't even afford a news paper. Lived off of tins.... There's a house next door but one to us now that's been rented out to students at our local Uni for years. A few years ago, none of the students had cars. Nowadays they all have cars - and usually cars that are less than 2 or 3 years old. When you have to have £30k debt when you finish, does it really matter if it's £40k, or £50k. Not when you're 18. It just encourages bad habits.

Well that's true I suppose , it's all about the type of debts that they run up , running around in new cars is not what I consider a neccessary part of going through University .

The point is though if they want to bring the green utopia to Britain they need to conplete the job in Brighton their home turf first The Main Street in Brighton has one of the highest air pollution in the EU
