Are you really trying to compare The Falklands with World War II? Torys do I'll have to take your word on that, as I've never seen anyone Tory or otherwise trying to compare the 2. This country continues to, and will always owe Churchill a great deal and to see some of the snidey words written in this thread shows the people concerned in a very poor light. He singlehanded lifted this country whilst at it's lowest point and showed the rest of the world that Britain wasn't yet beat. Theres a book called What If, where historians speculate on what would of happened if key events had not happened. The chapter about Germany winning the war makes pretty terrifying reading, and Churchill takes much of the credit for this not turning into reality. He made many mistakes, just like the rest of us, and many of the things he said & did certainly don't fit in with the "enlightened" thinking of the 21st century. But when it really mattered & the chips were down he showed himself to be the Greatest Ever Britain.
