I have one real fear here and, it is based upon going back some years to when we played Northampton town or someone in the 'autoglass ford vans paint trophy' or something like that
Hoekstra was showing he was a class apart around then - (just like Bojan is right now) - and we (Gudjon Thordason) played him against a lower league
bunch of cloggers on a ploughed field - a totally unsuitable call
result - he pretty much got his ankle / knee was it ? busted up by some semi pro clogger and never quite recovered from it
SO
next Monday Id be very deliberately leaving Bojan out of the team - more a game for the likes of Glenn and SJW to battle through using their more agricultural approach to match up the opposition

Halifax that was. Rochdale are not a bunch of cloggers any more than Wrexham were. Bit lightweight if anything.

Happy to be corrected - even so, we need to protect the likes of Bojan

Best to go around the east side instead of west side? Prestwich is probably the one to answer that mate Tricky one really as the M60 at the moment is horrendous at rush hour. Whichever way you come round the M60 all I can say is try and leave plenty of time to get there. I'd probably lean towards going round the Stockport side of the M60 as it's probably the lesser of two evils with the Trafford Centre traffic/M62 traffic and the roadworks up towards Simister Island.....

I've driven down the M6 today, quite sure I saw signs for junction closures for 17 and 16 every night starting at 20.00 on Friday this week, anybody else see it?

Hi Stokies
A few threads about the upcoming game, all responses here.
1. Pitch. Our pitch is a decent one, we don't have the problems of years gone by and we've not had a game postponed for a couple of years at least. There was a pitch inspection of Saturday because it had snowed lots, was still snowing around lunchtime etc.
2. Matty Lund. He won't be getting skinned by anybody as he is out for most if not all of the season, dislocated shoulder.
3. As above, getting around Manchester is a nightmare, make sure you leave yourself enough time. The roadworks means more people going around the East Side, the roadworks means more people going via Oldham/Rochdale, it's a mare. If going via the Oldham/Rochdale route beware of 2 speed cameras on the Oldham to M60 Junction 20 stretch
4. Stand. You get the biggest, no obstructions to view, all down one side of the pitch. If a miracle does happen and we do beat you, please leave it in the condition you found it not like the naughty Sheff Weds fans a couple of seasons ago.
5. Dale. 5th in the league and having a laugh. We've a team assembled of youth team protégées and accumulated freebies, not a penny spent on transfers
5. Pies. Still good, but not as good as decades ago.
6. Chippy. Still there, outside the away stand.

Where is everybody going pre match as not too many pubs close by. Noticed there is a Wetherspoons about a mile away walking distance.

They usually close off the sliproads whilst the work is ongoing, I live off J17 it's a common occurence. The motorway will be passable just slow going no doubt.....

I'll go for a few changes, but still a strong team. Butland Cameron Wollscheid Muniesa Wilson Whelan Nzonzi Moses Ireland Arnie Crouch Bench: Sorro Bojan Adam Sidwell Shenton Bardsley Walters The plan is, If we're winning comfortably we bring Shenton on. If not we bring Bojan/Walters/Adam on to finish it off. Ideally anyway.

Para! Are you heading up for the game? Meet me at the Polite Vicar etc Not sure yet to be honest. I highly doubt Rochdale has a flaming great local pub, offering a wide range of dishes served all day, seven days a week. Famous for chargrilled food served on sizzling skillets, offering great value food in a welcoming and friendly local pub. If it did though, I'd definitely be there.

Surprised with how many people want to go with Cameron and Adam in the middle after the Wrexham game. Neither showed any fight or desire.

My local has salted peanuts and cheese and onion crisps, it's a no brainer. We do have a posh chef I'm told of (Andrew Nutter) but he rightly put his posh restaurant on top of a hill miles from town so us normal folk don't have to worry about him and his kind.
Get thy backside up north, it will be a great night*, we've got a player who looks exactly like Peter Crouch so we are going to kidnap the latter pre-match and swap our lad into your squad to give us half a chance.
The home ends are reportedly not far off selling out, probably because Mark Hughes used to play for Man Utd I think.
Applies to the rest of you as well, possibly your cheapest away trip of the season, proper football like what you were all used to in League 1 before you got airs and graces and left Vale thinking that Tom Pope was the next big thing in your wake.
You might even get into a pub at an away game without 20 police per fan. Can't promise on that one though, not under my control.

You'll need to walk up to Market Street or Shudehill as the East Didsbury to Rochdale tram doesn't go via Piccadilly

For those who would have gone by train, there are late trains back to Crewe from Manchester, but then it will have to be taxi from Crewe to Stoke. If it helps I know of a few who are doing this.
