Seeing Crouchy's goal against Manchester blue brand on another thread has got me thinking what my favourite ever mental was. Fuller away at West ham was up there, obviously Sidibe against Villa. But I'm going with Lawrence away at Coventry. After that I was certain we'd get promoted. Happy days.

This is a toughie. Between Steino at the Vale and Oulare's arse at Ninian. These are the moments we suffer for!

One of my favorites along with the crouch volley, fuller's versus Villa (amazing) and Deano's last minute versus West Brom it was followed by this...

The most memorable - Kavs goal, our first, against Bristol City at Wembley, I was in the toilet and missed it, I still remember the noise

It was indeed. What made it so mental was the context, the hostility in the ground, it was electric. This was the start of our renaissance. The 640 Stokies who kept the faith will never forget that night I'm sure.

Carl Beeston v. Newcastle Boxing Day 1989 - last minute winner. Best and worst mental ever as it went on for ages and was truly mental but I got crushed against a barrier in the Boothen End and felt like i'd broke all my ribs.

Whelan at white hart lane, or whelan at villa park were both special.
And when Shotton scored in the 90th minute at the hawthorns I swear I ended up about 5 rows in front of where I should have been!

Diao at Portsmouth was a good one
Shotton at West Brom
Fuller at West Ham
But got to say my favourite was Whelan at Villa first season, Jesus Christ, I ended up standing on the advertising boards by the pitch, that was crazy.

In recent years - Whelan at Villa by a country mile. It looked very bleak and we were thrashed and looking like we may not survive
The whole stand just went in to meltdown
Still bugs me I never kept the clip 'its Whelan, it 2 - 2'

How about your favourite non-mental! Mine was Kenwyne's goal - our third, against Bolton in the semi-final. Hardly celebrated at all. Just stood there with my gob open in shock, like a goldfish. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. I recovered in time to have full-on mentals for the next two goals, though I couldn't really relax until the fifth one went in.

Paul Barnes equaliser at Birmingham Decent call that. I had forgotten how good that one was but it comes behind the Ninian Park effort following O'Connor's equaliser in the play-off semi final for me.

I'm struggling to pick a favourite, but I haven't seen a mention of a fairly recent one that surprised me at the time with it's intensity and longevity. It was Liverpool away, FA Cup 6th rd nearly 3 years ago and I'd taken my lad and his mate from Newmarket who was a Chelsea fan, Suarez scored first and we thought we were doomed and then Crouch equalized and the Stoke fans went absolutely nuts, we were still celebrating where we were after they'd kicked off for the restart I was knackered.

Tony kelly late equaliser at Liverpool in the 90s in league cup I think it was. Falling over the seats is a real experience. Also steino at the vale. Best mental ever. A pitch invasion is always a good indicator of a mental

This is one of my all time favourite mentals. I was stood on the serving hatch at the back of the stand and went it went in joined with the other Stokies going mental in the gangway. It was capped off whilst waiting for a lift back, back at the Vic Ground, with Mickey T pulling up and his car needing a push. My Mate and I pushed his car to get it started with Mickey giving it the horn and a wave once he got going again. Recently the Whelan one at Villa as ended up miles away from where I started arse over tit hanging over the advertising hoardings. The Stigger Foley one at Brighton is another one that is fondly recalled. It kept the unbeaten run going and the terrace was good place for a mental taking some casualties as we went

Just stumbled across this as well. The last going in on 97 minutes roughly after the Barnsley player took 5 minutes to walk off the pitch after being sent off. Boxing day as I recall. Cracking.

Funny how most of the best mentals are away
Very few at home have the same level of intensity - No doubt that its the 'adversity' things that really whips it up

Peschisolido winner at Chelsea. That was in the temp stand bit wasnt it...? A goodie that was !! There was a guy in front me who was shouting CONSTANTLY "skin another up rudy baby" (at Ruud Gullit) He must have had a few 'camberwell carrots' himself

Yeah it was a temp stand, cracking atmosphere all game, Steino was on the bench for them, Wise had recently had his Taxi altercation. Plenty of Chelsea boys getting carried out near the end of the game.
