His career has really gone down the drain hasn't it. It's a shame really, he doesn't seem that bad of a guy you never see any bad press granted he's not done the job his price tag determined but I think there's still a good player in there his confidence must be shot to pieces a bit like Bojan was said to be

Another one we could rescue...? Or is he beyond it?
There is a footballer in there somewhere.

I genuinely wouldn't take him. He was mentally and physically finished a year before he left Liverpool. Very sad, but not the sort of player we should be drafting in as our top earner.

You never lose skill. It's unlikely he'll ever find it again but it's in there somewhere. He needs to go back to Atletico if they'd take him or somewhere where he could become the main man again and feel settled. I suspect he'll just go where the money is, though.

Wages would be a stumbling block
He needs to be at a club where he will be (almost) guaranteed a place in their starting 11 as well as a lot of tlc

Wasn't his game mainly based on his pace? My dipper supporting mate reckoned he lost it after he returned from a bad injury when playing for them not long before he was sold to Chelsea.
He must have struggled to adapt his game like others have when their pace has gone.

Apparently (and obviously) we have been linked to him.
Never going to happen but I actually think contrary to many it could work very well.
I don't think his situation is comparable to Owen (well not completely) and he still has time on his side.
Somebody COULD get a real bargain but it's not without its risks.

Harry will be on the phone to see if he can get a deal done, then deny it until the last day of the transfer window. He is obviously after a forward, been linked with Defoe and Robbie Keane recently. It's the kind of risk QPR would take, like Samba last time they were in the Prem.

I agree with all of that apart from the bargain part. It all depends on how much of his wages Chelsea are willing to pay. Step up, 'Arry.

Fernando Torres to Stoke? Ffs Is it really that outlandish? He's gone to Milan, they're doing pretty badly, they don't want him and want to get rid of him early. He's pretty much considered a joke in the press. Would a big club go for him? I don't think they would unless Atletico got sentimental. Would a Napoli/Everton/Wolfsburg/Valencia go for him? Possibly but it wouldn't be a given. So who would that leave? Cash rich Premier League clubs or the MLS. I don't think it will happen but I also think we'd be in with a shout when it came down to who actually would want him.

You'd think there would be a more attractive offer out there but I thought that about Bojan and yet still expected him to sign.

I think his star hasn't waned as much Bojan's did but unlike Bojan he hasn't got age on his side. He's actually a loan from Ajax away of having a pretty similar career decline to him!

He's got to go somewhere so we'd have as much chance as anyone unless one of the big clubs took a punt on him. FFP will probably have more of a say in where he ends up.

For arguments sake, if you only look at prem teams and assuming it will be a free loan, as mentioned in the articles: Man City, No Man Utd, No WHU probably would Southampton possibly but do they need him if Pelle regains/continues his goalscoring form Arsenal won't, but he might actually do well there if they took him. Doubt they really need him though Newcastle, possibly Swansea, no Liverpool, no Spurs, no Villa, possibly Everton, don't need him Stoke, we'd have to sign Moses permanently The rest would take him if they could afford him but would he go? Possibly QPR. It's hard to see him going to a prem club. There are not many that would/could take him on loan who he would pick over a foreign based team.

if he can swallow his pride and be humble enough to play for a mid table club he can get his form back.
not that i think he cant get get it elsewhere but at a mid table club there is no pressure of trying to win trophies or avoiding relegation
we would be perfect

Some have said released and some have said a loan it seems. I would find it even less likely of him moving to one of those clubs permanently, anyway. You would have to worry about the wages in either case but you would then have to worry about contract length. I can't see clubs like us, and even West Ham for that matter, offering him high wages for 3 or 4 years with the risk that he might just be no better than what they have already. Chelsea might pay for some of his wages until the end of the season but would they do it for the length of whatever contract he demands? It'll be interesting to see where he ends up but I can see it being a Spanish club, and it will be if he has any sense.

One for the dogs home ? Would cost around 60k a week. I'd risk him on loan for half a season and then make a decision on a permanent deal then
