Absolute joke. Pay £40 for a ticket or pay £400+ a year to have Sky Sports and listen to bullshit commentary.
Alternately you can stay home and stream it for free.
Hmmmmmm...

this came out last year, and i am guilty of watching [away]games in the pub.however i think it does have an impact on home attendances. at the end of the day the pubs are "stealing" and contributing nothing.maybe if some sort of compromise can be found? maybe pubs should pay a fee to the prem league which could be distributed evenly to all 92 clubs. but i will not hold my breath.

You can't roll back technology. Streaming itself isn't illegal is it? It's the public showing that is the issue. Typical bully boy tactics from a horrible organisation. The same organisation that values fans so much they want to put Stoke V West Ham on in Jakarta at 3am in the morning.

Murdoch and all his monopolistic, money grabbing enterprises should be kicked out of this country altogether. Definitely an unwanted immigrant!

Will have to be a lock in,with regulars known,to the landlord,to stop these snooping money grabbing twats.

Apart from the odd pub that hooks up a laptop to a big screen and shows a fairly jumpy stream the majority of pubs pay TV companies from abroad to show the football. The problem being those companies have paid for the rights to show them abroad. Sky pays to have exclusivity (BT sport aside) in this country and are not allowed to show 3pm games under an agreement with the Football league. The main problem is what Sky are charging pubs. Pubs aren't as busy as they used to be so need to cut costs accordingly. Foreign TV costs sub 1.5K a year to get all games Sky want £500 + a month.

There was a land Mark case in Portsmouth couple of years ago that was supposed to shake up the way we can watch live games at pubs. The land lady was using a Greek satellite station which cost her £800 a year. She won her court battle after PL tried to stop it. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17150054

A lock in would fix this y'know? Only regulars or people with some form of known Stokie background.
When the investigator, let's call her Sue Windle, turns up and asks if she can enter and she's from London. You tell her sling her fucking hook back to Sky.

Need an affordable compromise, Pirating as a whole could be solved by bringing in affordable better alternatives, it won't happen though because the people in charge are greedy
Because of services like Netflix and Spotify piracy in those areas has dropped, all we have at the moment is an expensive sky/bt subscription which at best shows a handful of our games, even though in many countries it's cheap and easy to watch all premier league games
Really is ridiculous

It's a case of others making monies from someone else's baby so in that respect I wouldn't be happy too about someone cashing in whilst I've nurtured that baby from shitting into nappies to using a toilet and wiping their own bottom.

They are the ones pumping hundreds of millions into the premier league. If I was them I'd not want to be giving my investment away for nothing. I hate Murdoch and don't have sky because I don't want to line his pockets. However, don't see a problem in what they are doing here.

The problem with sky is that when they began covering football the only ones who showed it were domestic properties and the odd boozer. Since then technology has advanced and for around £100 plus a cheaper alternative even the most humble home can have foreign coverage. The real problem is that Sky and the Premier league got so greedy they didnt bother looking down the road.

If it was not for sky we would of not been running on the pitch like looneys in May 2008.PC and his family invested into the club because they could see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Also the sky money pays so our season tickets can stay low.I don't like all this premiership clap trap, but we took the bait so we have to live with the outcome. If we were in the championship and not on the telly in the pubs, would those of you who watch in the pub start going to the ground.

Bloody great news. Can't stand pubs showing stoke home games. Can't stand them showing away games. Can't stand live streams. Ban them all I say.
Best one was the 'stoke fan' in the sentinel that said he used to be a season ticket holder but couldn't renew as he doesn't have the time now so chooses to watch them in the pub! .
I never watch in the pub and never watch a stream.

It's a godsend for many and not all Stoke fans can afford a season ticket or match day prices

But they don't want to pay for it, easy charge £10 that should pay for the legal subscription. Sorry we live in a area where wages are low, but we can afford our fags and beer and tattoos I forgot the latest mobile

I'd like to see just how much monies these pubs are raking in before they make a song and dance about how much a licence would cost them.

Would it be against piracy/copyright law if a pub provided a device such as an iPad and the facility to stream the game to the portable device ?

The bellringer on Eaton Park charge an extortionate rate for a pint on machdays and no doubt at other times too. and must be taking it in so as you can imagine my heart bled upon reading that they may have to close should they be stopped from showing Stoke matches. Well buy a fcuking licence as I'm sure you're raking enough in to pay for it.
If it's the law to buy one then fcuking buy one if you want to be legit.

Lots of people watch their own streams, that's nothing to do with what pubs are doing.

The biggest greed from these stories are: 1) landlords who want extra money from customers coming to their boozer; and 2) the fans who cant be arsed to go but expect to be able to watch
I wonder just how many there are that claim to only watch at the pub because they can't get tickets; and how many of them put themselves on the waiting list? I'd bet £10 that it would be more than enough which, done regularly throughout a season, would soon prompt Uncle Pete to fill in a corner or two!
