JoeinOz, I saw Cheetah support Saxon at Viccy Hall.2 female lead singers and I seem to recall them dragging some unsuspecting young lad on stage, making him lie down whilst one of the singers straddled him (lucky git).Weren't they Australian and whatever happened to them. Bish, my uncle who introduced me to Deep Purple In Rock dragged me off to see Whitesnake at Rafters (later to become Jillys) in Manchester around 77 too. Have it in my cd collection somewhere. I've still got. One or two early Whitesnake albums on vinyl ......one of them is quite rare as it was one of only a few issued with the lyrics on a printed card , it's worth few £ 's these days I believe , not that I would sell it

Hi Bish were they on the Sunburst label, as I had the 7" version of Lie Down on that label obtained after seeing them on the Old Grey Whistle Test. Unfortunately all my vinyl and tapes ended up going missing.

Unfortunately all my vinyl and tapes ended up going missing. When I said Whitesnake albums , I should have said David Covetdale's first two solo albums one of which was called " White Snake " the other " Northwinds " , these were both released on the Purple records label as they were funded by the former Deep Purple management, Whitesnake were formed directly after this and were indeed on Sunburst as you said ....sorry to mislead you mate .The first album released as Whitesnake was " Trouble " in 1978 , I don't know if you have heard it , if not its worth seeking out

They ain't heavy metal, but any rock fans that haven't heard Rival Sons yet are missing a trick, latest album is a classic, they're as cool as an Arctic Freezer Box
