I've never been a fan of the term " heavy metal " .....just what does that mean exactly ?....I prefer heavy rock or perhaps hard rock as that probably covers my taste in the genre as a Deep Purple fan .....no all the dinosaurs haven't died out yet ! Being a massive fan of 'proper' bands like Led Zeppelin & Deep Purple, I'll never understand how people nowadays think they're 'tame' (or basically, shit) and instead prefer to listen to all this American dross about wanting to kill themselves 'cos life is so shit. Give me some Jimmy Page violin bow playing on his electric guitar over this American shit anyday..... Papa Roach's biggest ever hit. What brilliant lyrics. Cut my life into pieces This is my last resort, Suffocation, no breathing Don't give a fuck if I cut my arm bleeding This is my last resort,
Cut my life into pieces I've reached my last resort, Suffocation, no breathing Don't give a fuck if I cut my arm bleeding Do you even care if I die bleeding?
Would it be wrong, would it be right? If I took my life tonight, Chances are that I might Mutilation out of sight And I'm contemplating suicide
'Cause I'm losing my sight, losing my mind Wish somebody would tell me I'm fine Losing my sight, losing my mind Wish somebody would tell me I'm fine
I never realized I was spread too thin 'Til it was too late and I was empty within Hungry, feeding on chaos and living in sin Downward spiral, where do I begin?
It all started when I lost my mother No love for myself and no love for another Searching to find a love upon a higher level Finding nothing but questions and devils
'Cause I'm losing my sight, losing my mind Wish somebody would tell me I'm fine Losing my sight, losing my mind Wish somebody would tell me I'm fine
Nothing's alright, nothing is fine
I'm running and I'm crying I'm crying [4x] I can't go on living this way
Cut my life into pieces This is my last resort, Suffocation, no breathing Don't give a fuck if I cut my arm bleeding
Nothing's alright, nothing is fine
I'm running and I'm crying I can't go on living this way
Can't go on, living this way, nothing's alright

Oh Yes. Saw Motörhead again last week, booked to see Slipknot + KoRn in Liverpool in January. Keenly awaiting Foo Fighters tickets going on sale next week*. Being mid-40's, I'm rooted in 80's Rock - whether that's ZZ Top (yes I know they've been going since the 70's), Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth etc., but I try not to get too blinkered like some "Classic Rock" types (f*ck me they can moan). I have a dip into 70's stuff too - Thin Lizzy (would have loved to see them in the Lynott years) and UFO. I'll have seen all the Nu-Metal big 4 by January despite being at the top of that demographic I guess. Seen Muse a couple of times and their shows are spectacular. * Anyone have a pre-sale code they can DM me?

There's still a lot of 70's bands who's music still stands up against some of the new wave shouty stuff. Bands like UFO, Stray, Groundhogs and Pink Fairies were amongst some of my favourites back in the day

Can't go on, living this way, nothing's alrightThe main riff is a rip-off of Maiden's Ghengis Khan. As for me, I'm much mellower than I used to be I can listen to Van Halen, Skid Row, even a bit of Ratt (who I used to despise!). Love Maiden and quite a lot of NWOBHM but the 80's thrash bands are my fave, particularly Anthrax, Exodus and Megadeth. I like some newer stuff too. Mystic Prophecy, Iced Earth, Cavelera Conspiracy \ Soulfly and loads of other stuff.

Been a fan of rock music since first listening to In Rock by Deep Purple many many moons ago. Used to be a regular visitor to Viccy Hall and Bingley Hall to watch many a gig. These days I prefer to listen to the softer side of rock A.O.R as its classed bands like Journey, Foreigner, FM and bands of such like. But its still good to go back and listen to bands such as Judas Priest (before they went a bit thrashy) UFO, Van Halen etc. Now not having heard the above song by Papa Roach but on reading the lyrics it seems a bit depressing to me, but if thats what you listen to then fine. The point I suppose I'm trying to make is, I was always lead to believe that music should be about escapism, to take your mind off todays life and its problems. When you put those headphones on and crank up the volume a good song should take you to another place.

I was at the afformentioned Lizzy gig.Thought John Sykes was a better fit to Lizzy than Snowy White. Even saw them at Bingley Hall with Midge Ure and Dave Flett on guitar.Have seen all from Whitesnake through to Dio, Bon Jovi even Richard Marx and FM at Viccy Hall. Good nights were had.Sadly living where I do no too bands stop off here, nearest place is Manchester, but gone are the days where a band would do between 15 and 30 dates for a tour now its 4 or 5. Give me the intimate close up places like Viccy Hall over Manchester M.E.N anyday.

I still listen to Metallica and Slayer, but I drifted into Punk (joined a band and everything! My first gig was supporting GBH at the Wheatsheaf!)
Back then people were punk or metal, now a lot of the gang all seem to like both as they matured :-)
I just like fast uptempo guitar music, or any decent not up its own arse rock and roll (massive Ramones fan!)!

I can remember paying £8 at Lotus Records to import Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt 1 - normal albums were a fiver - a big deal to me at the time!! I like their newer stuff too. Well, probably up to about keeper legacy. Their "newest" guitarist is pretty good too (Sasha Gerstner), Weikath is underrated too. Grapow was my least favourite due to his dull Malmsteen influenced soloing style. It seems Kiske has got over his hatred for metal (I'm guessing he was hungry!) and teamed up with Hansen to form Unisonic, haven't heard the album but I've seen some youtube vids of them playing helloween tracks.

Yeah have seen a few YouTube vids of them together - some decent accoustic versions about with them promoting stuff doing classic Helloween songs.
Have seen Kai playing with a few bands on stage as guest as well (guitar and singing) - this one:
(StormWarrior - covering Ride the Sky)
(Cracking dual guitar solos about 4:00 onwards!)

JoeinOz, I saw Cheetah support Saxon at Viccy Hall.2 female lead singers and I seem to recall them dragging some unsuspecting young lad on stage, making him lie down whilst one of the singers straddled him (lucky git).Weren't they Australian and whatever happened to them.
Bish, my uncle who introduced me to Deep Purple In Rock dragged me off to see Whitesnake at Rafters (later to become Jillys) in Manchester around 77 too. Have it in my cd collection somewhere.
