I think Dembele can play the holding role and break with Nzonzi in tandem. Cant believe he doesnt get in the Spurs team on a regular basis to be honest. But still we need to keep Whelan around. I would offload Sidwell and Ireland first, but it looks like Adam is on his way out

Him and n'zonzi would be formidable but wasn't he between 10-15m to Spurs?
I personally (after seeing him last night) think we need a Besic type of player if Whelan is to leave.
Personally I think Whelan should stay, he optimises the club.

Moussa in and Shenton game time. Adam, Ireland, gone. Whelan (possible) and Assaidi loan terminated. Seems possible knowing hughesy.

N'zonzi is a cracking player, but if we managed to get Dembele then I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him go in January. I can't imagine anyone at the club will be looking forward to negotiating a new deal with him and his old man given their antics over the last two pre season's, and he'll only have 12 months left come this summer. N'zonzi holding all the aces doesn't have a nice sound to it does it? If the money men are looking to not get stung, and get at least our money back (£5m?) then I reckon you would have to be looking at this January for someone willing to pay it. Obviously, it shouldn't happen at all without a quality replacement. As good as N'zonzi is though, Dembele would be an upgrade. The only thing with him, is sometimes you get the impression that he doesn't grasp just how much ability he has. Then again, I may have gone through all that bullshit, and Hughes fancies playing him on the wing like he did at Fulham

Would be a real coup if we could pull this off,but i agree that if it were to happen nzonzi would probably be leaving to help finance a deal!

Dembele would have to play the SNZ role as we now set up, or possibly out wide, although that would be a bit of a waste of his talent. I could see Hughes wanting to offload Adam and make room for Dembele. One of Dembele and SNZ would be likely to start on the bench, which neither would fancy, I'd guess. You do get the feeling SNZ thinks he is irreplaceable in the team at present and sometimes acts/plays like it. No harm to give him some real competition.

Even the players Spurs wants out Daniel Levy always demands top price. He is regarded even by Alex Ferguson as the most difficult man to deal with. If we managed to get him for less than 10 million I would be amazed.
All that said him and Bojan together would take us to new heights I'm sure.
