Would cost mega money in fees and wages. You'd have thought he'd jump at the chance to work with Hughes again, though.
Who knows?

As strange as this sounds, I've always rated Dembele as my favorite central midfielder in the premier league. He's a brilliant all round player and can play deep or in an attacking role. To my amazement Spurs have been playing Capoue and a number of other average players instead of him for the last 2 seasons. 1. How much would he be worth? 2. Would he fit stoke? 3. Did Hughes manage him at Fulham? I'd love to see a player of his calibre at stoke. Even though its wishful thinking. Does anyone else agree? I think he has lost his way a little bit, but I agree he was awesome at Fulham!

What about a cheeky loan in January?

Great player. I know him and Lennon are different kinds of players but who would you rather have bearing in mind they are both the same age.

What about a cheeky loan in January? We're all booked up for domestic loans as it stands.

Excellent footballer. Who would he replace though? You'd think Adam or Ireland would have to be off.

Would love Dembele at Stoke, seriously good player.
He wouldn't come cheap mind nor without other clubs sniffing around him prepared to pay him top whack to join them….cough cough….West Ham, QPR etc.

I'd have thought Dembele would be seen more as a long term replacement/upgrade for Whelan than for Ireland or Adam. The way we set up at the moment it is Bojan who provides the competition which might result in Ireland or Adam becoming surplus to requirements.
Certainly in the form he showed in his Fulham days, Dembele is the sort of player who I'd love to have. He's clearly lost his way at Spurs (and I think he hasn't played for Belgium since being subbed in their first World Cup game?) but, if any manager can rekindle the fire in his belly, you'd have to think it would be Hughes.

I see him an upgrade to Whelan also and a potentially major one if he can recapture his previous form, which he should be able to in our present set up.

Is he defensive enough though? When he was at Fulham he played much further forward and looked great.

This all reads very similar to the views on here (including my own) to the signing of Palacios.

Dembele hasn't got the injuries or personal life baggage that Palacios had though.. bit of a difference if you ask me.

MirrorMidfielder Mousa Dembele is also likely to leave White Hart Lane next month. A swap deal involving Aston Villa’s Fabian Delph has been mooted and Stoke boss Mark Hughes is very keen to take him on loan at the Britannia Stadium. Not sure how that'd work with Moses and Assaidi?

Get rid of Assaidi I guess.
Dembele could signal the end of the Fonz?
Unless Hughes played him where he did for Fulham either up front or on the wing.

Yeah funny to see people mentioning him being a natural replacement for Whelan, I would have thought it is N'Zonzi's position he is most naturally suited to. I really wouldn't want to lose the Fonz but if he has to go, then I could certainly live with Dembele as a replacement.

I think they could play together, Paul and given the apparent issue with Glenn's new deal (or lack of one) maybe that is as strong an indication as anything?

What sort of player is Dembele?
Not seen a great deal of him since his Fulham days, probably because he hasn't played much since his Fulham days, but I remember him more as an attacking type player rather than an out and out midfielder.
He isn't particularly old either is he?

I would be very sad to see Whelan leave us. We can't have enough of Whelan type characters around our club. He is one I hoped to see finish his career with us. Great signing, super servant and a massively underrated player by far too many.

I like Whelan and he is absolutely someone you would want alongside you in a trench. I do wish his passing was better but he brings a good deal of solidity to the midfield. Depends if he wants 3 or 3 year deal I guess. We have Sidwell and Cameron as replacements?

Whelan is what? 30/31? A 2 year deal with the option of a 3rd subject to how many games he plays in the second year of his standard deal would seem to make sense to me.
I like Sidwell as well, but he is a year or two older and was surely only ever going to be a short term option for us.

Dembele would be an incredible signing. Has the attacking drive and class that would compensate and compliment N'Zonzis natural instinct to 'hold back' in order to keep possession.
Bit of pace, bit of strength, more than a bit of ability. Get him in.
