via Graeme Routledge: "On the one hand clever politics from the school of Crosby. Appeal to certain values (fear of the other, avarice, individualism) and dress it up (as Theresa May did) as a moral crusade for Little England. Appeal to the top 25% who will benefit most financially from the tax changes, and those of course who are more likely to register to vote. Appeal to the "aspirational" middle classes, without bothering to itemise the deep cuts in public services that will be necessary to fund the tax changes. An exercise in spin resembling a Thatcherite offer, but it may well strike a chord once the soundbites have been repeated a hundred times. On the other hand, doublespeak where the self-proclaimed "workers" party remove social security from families in work. A "plan" that has no plan, no costings, but a clear dividing line for a deserving and undeserving poor. A society exposed, with encouragement to view it's most vulnerable members as a hindrance and a burden. A message that needs to be exposed for what it is.

If people refuse to help and have abolutely no interest in helping themselves then why should we, the taxpayer bother? They are a hinderance and a burden and I reckon theres a good million of them. This number will only grow and grow as more and more childen grow up in these morally bankrupt homes. The welfare state has failed the bone idle, they just can't see it.

Sorry but you are talking rubbish it was Labour that privatised GP practices and also insured we now pay 8 times more to rent the new hospitals than it would of cost to own and rent them. I'm not talking rubbish at all am I? You've just repeated what I've said. Feel free to point out how the coalition have accelerated this process then, what have they actually privatised at all ? It would have to be something massive compared to the privatisation of GP practices and ownership of hospitals.

Funny how these fucking Tories who were banging on about the deficit and fiscal responsibility during last weeks conference are suddenly celebrating a load of uncosted, electioneering hogwash. You've got to have a load of fucking magic in your head if you believe that if you work for 30 hours on the minimum wage and have a family, you'll be better off under Cameron and Osborne. It's a low grade magic trick that anyone with an ounce of common sense can see straight through.

When push come to shove then I don't think it matter about how poor Labour have been in opposition and especially at this conference season but.... ...the only comment I heard in response from Labour was a 'but how are they going to pay for it' line with regard to the tax cuts. In usual circumstances they might have a point but not after the shadow chancellor failed to address even greater revenue black holes with regard to the deficit and the leader failed to mention any of what he was doing for the vast majority of the population then it just sounds pathetic. 50% tax rates for the rich and a mansion tax isn't much of a plan for the 99% of the population as salop as previously mentioned. They've literally offered nothing having banged on about a cost of living crisis for the last few months. They are simply hopeless.

Anything which puts more money in the working cliff pockets is a good thing but let's ignore that and concentrate on labour myths on the nhs

Which "same old" Labour posters are you referring to? A list perhaps. Also what are these "myths" on the NHS? I agree Labour are on thin ice to lecture on the subject but i'm just curious as to the reports you class as lies. The biggest myth i've heard is the one from Cameron claiming the NHS is safe in the Tories hands.

That's correct MCF - the Tories are offering pre-election sweeteners but the difference is that they're letting people keep more of their own earnings rather than have it taken off them to plough into increasingly fat public sector services which support those that offer nothing. Just think, tens of thousands of public sector workers will have an increased take home wage. They'll continue to cut public sector and welfare spending as planned or maybe increase the rate of the cutting but hope on increasing economic growth. As an aside, does anyone want to comment on Bet365's recent 'move' to Gibraltar to avoid the new tax laws? Looks like our Peter isn't so fond of paying his way any more.

It isn't going to be stopping in Stoke-on-Trent not only was the council solution to add an extra stop but for it to share a line with the local commuter trains which kind of defeats the object of having a dedicated high speed line so don't be holding your breath on that one.

The debt has risen for many reasons lets not forget some of those superb deals signed by Labour, there's the contract where it was cheaper to build a second warship then cancel the order then there's PFI...........

Old school Tory redistribution of wealth at its finest. Yes it's all from austerity because it's well known not a single penny is wasted by any government department and it wouldn't be possible to make any efficiency savings would it and not one single person who works for the government is overpaid are they The estimated £7 billion cost of the tax cut amounts to around an extra 1% saving on government budgets by 2018, fucking hell I've been in jobs where you have weeks to take 10% out of your cost base.
