Sadly couldn't go or watch tonight due to work commitments.
How did our lovable big German play?

Solid as a rock like he'd never been away.... he looked a bit off the pace in pre-season, but looked back to form tonight... right place right time, every time. I think that's where he has the edge over Wilson

Not sure whether he did quite enough to change Hughes' mind but did himself no harm at all.

Certainly looked a lot solider defensively than Wilson.
His distribution was okay but in all honesty it doesn't need to be anything special given how our midfielders drop off to pick the ball up.
He was up against a bang average forward line though

He looked a bit heavy, but positioning was good.

I think it's known in wrestling as a half nelson.

Shirt pulling a lad who was going through late on. Standard one for the team.

Ye as others have said, pretty solid. As we know he's a propoer defender, something thast he will always have over Wilson, which means positionally it comes as lot more natural for the German yooth to get in the right place at the right time. He wasn't tight enough for blunderlands goal though and you can tell he's not fit yet. Monday night?...tough call as he will get done with pace, but my head says he'll be more solid than wilson

He needed to back off half a yard when the initial ball was played in and then as Altidore went to turn should have then gone tight.

Overall however I thought he showed positive signs and he looked decentish on the ball. Much more solid than Wilson and him and Ryan defend our box better when crosses and corners are put in.

I think he had a positive effect on the rest of the defence, they didn't seem as nervous as when Wilsons there and were less prone to making silly mistakes.

Re Newcastle game, A big consideration will be tracking and marking Cisse who has a lot of pace.
Decision time for MH re Muniesa and Pieters too.

jeycov. I would play Huth because the fitness will do him the world of good and coming up against pace then Huth all day because wilson is slower than slow and I've seen milk turn quicker than he does! He's a disaster waiting to happen Every match.
Welcome back Hutttthhhhhhhh

Absolutely solid, great influence but needs game time to sharpen up. Berlin Wall is back.

I thought he looked absolutely exhausted towards the end. The booking that he got was because he was absolutely shattered and a little bit behind the play. He was on Altidore when Altidore scored, but I'm not sure that there was anything much that he could have done differently. He was absolutely fine otherwise, he did a very good job of stepping in and covering whenever they got some room down our left.
He also made Rodwell wet himself and disappear out of the game, which was hilarious.

Im intrigued..

Huth and Shawcross together certainly put the willies up attackers more than Shawxross and Wilson.
Huth can strangle foreign infidels with much greater ease than the likes of Wilson ....Tis a fact.
Could you see Suarez sinking his teeth into Huth.....?

Didn't keep close enough to Altidore for their goal. See pic, in Daily Mail on other link.
