As Brazil demonstrated for decades ultimately defensive aaaard working plodders are not required to succeed. It's all about full backs bombing forward along with arrogant flair players who score goals combining invention with fancy flicks and pure carpet football. Ultimately that's why Tone ended up getting the chop while Bobby "Magic" Martinez was offered the Everton job on an extortionate salary.

Obertan was running rings round him the last 10 minuttes. Could have cost us the game. But did very well going forward.

He was great at times (especially going forward) but Obertan was beating him every time in the last 25 mins and if an equaliser was going to come it would've been down our left hand side. It's a close one between him and Pieters and he fully deserved his chance tonight but I think Pieters is the more solid LB at present.

Give him a break, was clearly knackered at the end due to lack of competitive matches. Thought he did very well, better going forward that Pieters I thought and defensively solid until he tiredness set in.

Muni had been working his nuts off defending and getting forward for 70 minutes when Obertan came on. Give the guy a break.

I love Muni.
I want to spend a weekend in a mountain lodge with him, drinking Whiskey and discussing historical events.

If he was knackered he should have been subbed, I've got a lot of time for Muniesa but he struggled towards the end of the game and there is no room for sentiment when we're desperate for a home win.

What did he do to deserve MoM?
There was a spell at the end of the first-half when he went walkabout into central midfield for about 5 minutes and seemed to forget where he was supposed to be playing.
Also getting ripped apart by Obertan at the end.
Looks great going forward, and hes worth persevering with for a time but he needs to work on his positioning at left-back

Some of his passing was outstanding he's got great vision. Looked a little bit suspect first half but improved in the second up until the last 10 mins when he was clearly knackered. Really love the guy.

I love Muni. I want to spend a weekend in a mountain lodge with him, drinking Whiskey and discussing historical events. I'd personally like to ask him on a short yachting trip somewhere just off the Cornish coast, then make a wholly inappropriate pass at him and spend the return journey in uncomfortable silence.

With games he will get better and importantly match fit. His crossing and interplay with Moses was excellent.

Was out on his feet at the end, played very well otherwise.

I can see him being the sort of bloke to politely laugh off your advances as to not create any awkwardness between you, before raising a toast to your friendship and future endeavours whilst reeling in a sea bass that you both share over a torch lit dinner with a crackling marine radio eliciting dulcet tones in the background.

Think he's better when he gets stuck in as opposed to when he defends like he's still in Spain.
Didn't do too badly but can leave space for the opposition to exploit.

Wow watched a different game to most I see.
Felt he was often out of position, stretched Wilson and Shawcross more than I'd like and very shaky when ran at.
Decent in possession but needs to sort out his defensive issues to be a regular in the premier league

Oh absolutely. Unfortunately though, I would simply end up repeating the same pass in exactly the same way. Perhaps crying as I did so; fingers tightly wrapped around the helm and implying the threat of deliberate crashing if my advance wasn't reciprocated. Terrified for his life, he manages to calm me down by shushing, although I'm still gasping for air through dismayed sobs as I paw feebly at his genitals, before finally accepting the full rejection and hunching up with my head in my hands. Knowing there's no way of rectifying the situation, we both opt to sit in silence, with only the oblivious bleeping of the GPS system and the odd squark of a distant seagull to break the soul-crushing humiliation. I fucking love Marc Muniesa.

Beautiful, poetic, and with an undertone of desire, I'm going to sleep well tonight hoping that Bojan reads this anecdote to him as he rocks him gently to sleep in his Rory the racecar bed, with his little numberplate on the front reading "MUNI 1".

He has got very good feet, but in my opinion he lacks too much pace to be more than a decent fullback I'm afraid. Personally I prefer Pieters.

never misplaces a pass, good crosser, reads the game well. outstanding for 80 mins.
Full back isn't his best position, but he could be our best signing this decade.

Thought he looked off the pace early on in the game but that's only to be expected due to lack of matches on the prem.
I think he's a great player,

Poor at the back, good going forward is all I can say about tonight, not sure he knows what to do when someones running at him, also went missing for their big chance and a min or so later, still needs to learn a bit.
