Just been talking to him at the Gordon Banks Q&A and obviously I asked about our skipper.
Clearly we all know that Ryan's infamous 15 minute debut must feature in the thinking but apparently that and solely that is why he won't get picked again during Hodgson's tenure.
Crazy that anyone can be so blinkered.
Mr Winter indicated he thought Ryan was really unlucky as he thinks he's at least as good as Cahill.
Interestingly be also suggested the Ramsey thing was also playing a part.
Thanks Mr Wenger!
By the way, Gordon was a gent as ever signing stuff and even giving my boys goalkeeping tips!

If thats true then that is one of the reasons why hodgson must be put out to pasture. The owl faced cunt.
How the ramsey thing even comes into it is beyond me. Ryan did nothing but conduct himself in a professional manner after the event and all the mud slinging that went on.

If true it really is incredibly moronic , we really are light years behind in coaching in this country , it's laughable !

Always torn over this. On the one hand I hate hodgson and wenger for their respective parts in denying Shawcross what he has clearly earnt, but on the other hand I'm aware it's actually a blessing because with each passing transfer window it's looking more and more likely that Ryan will be spending his peak years with us.

I think the prospect of Ryan getting another call up helps us more than hinders. Each time he plays,he knows more are watching because of it. That leads to him having to put in his very best each time he takes the field imo.

I often think there's also a media campaign against him when he gets getting mentioned for England due to his excellent form
That BT sport coverage ( agenda ? ) yesterday was truly appalling when EVERY centre half at every game does no different than Shawcross
I was embarrassed for them

I think it is more a case that woy has his favourite clubs and matches to watch. Is he watching Man city v Chelsea today? Anybody have a list of prem matches he has attended since becoming england manager? I am sure if ryan moved to a bigger club he would walk into the england team. Although i think there is only one place up for grabs as i do think cahill is our best defender.

It was a fucking disgrace. Every CB does it. As I speak in the Leicester Man U game it has just happened at a corner.

Woy is a prick, always has been, always will be. Shit manager too. I asked HW why the press hadn't given Hodgson a hard time in the wake of the World Cup and he reckons it was due mainly to the fans applauding after the Costa Rica game and the fact that he's a nice guy, the players like him and there's nobody else. I said had Graham Taylor or Steve McLaren had campaigns like his there would have been turnips and all sorts in the papers.

I don't know how people on here can defend Ryan? That is blatant cheating. If we are not good enough to train and compete without that, then why do we bother at all.

Winter is the biggest sycophant in the media. Never has a bad word about anyone and has pushed this 'applauding after the Costa Rican game' BOLLOCKS more than anyone.
If you want to know about England you're better off reading Neil Ashton.

If Hodgson were to assess himself by the same standards as he has been assessing Shawcross he would have resigned as soon as he dragged his fucking arse back from Brazil.
The worst performance at a World Cup finals by any England team ...ever.
Let that sink in. Then ask yourself why that was. Well the defence was fucking woeful. Other than Cahill, they were either not experienced enough or not good enough. A manager should build a team from the back. Unless you're Hodgeson, in which case you hang it off a winger, a forward who never does anything in an England shirt (and lately, not much in a Man U shirt), a midfielder who falls over if anyone goes near him and a rag tag collection of others.
Hodgeson gets off Scott free. Shawcross should not be a point of debate. The Ramsay incident, by common understanding (unless your reasoning is Arsenally warped) was a late challenge that was otherwise innocuous. The debut was a set-up. He was fucking hung out to dry by Hodgson. Where were all the other defenders when that outrageous overhead kick went in? They were watching Sharwcross busting a gut to get back to try to clear it off the line.
It is a travesty. Shawcross has every right to be royally fucked off. And if there is any justice, Hodgson will be fucking hounded out of his job for his record-breaking levels of incompetence.

If you watch games live rather than be led by media biased half wits you will see that Ryan doesn't grapple with players when the ball is in play. Tell me how many penalties Ryan has conceded? There is an agenda against Ryan and this was highlighted by the BT coverage yesterday. I really shouldn't give a fuck but I get well and truly wound up when I read Stoke fans criticizing the best centre back I've seen at Stoke...and yes, that includes Denis Smith!!!

And last night on MoTD, Lineker calling Shawcross a "tactile fellow". Why single him out when in the next breath that neanderthal from Arsenal was saying players are doing it and getting away with it all the time.
I think MoTD know full well that they haven't praised Shawcross over the last five or six seasons. The media has all but damned his reputation.
